i gotta be honest, i like camping when its stormy so i want the unna or soulo :)
@@Rob-el8ti I got the Soulo because I’ve camped in high winds around 35mph and didn’t feel secure and saw videos of people using it in strong gusts and saying it made them feel secure, sort of like reassurance with a Hilleberg in my opinion though I’m sure other tents hold up well too.
Soulo BL is perfect for that Rob. So is the RL to be fair but the BL is rock solid and I’ve had both, sold the RL and have the BL now.
What an utterly weird questions, with all due respect.
'Do you need this tent for camping in the UK?'
'You'll be checking the weather forecast, right?'
Of course you don't need this tent for camping in the UK in June, if you also don't go out camping when it might be very windy.
It's actually more a 3-season tent, that can be used in summer also.
It's very useful for extremely windy and/or snowy conditions. It handles rain proper also oc.
Exactly the stuff you might encounter when doing multi week trails/hikes and you just don't know what the weather will be.
And the argument about the weight, didn't you know beforehand that 3kg will feel like hauling 3kg?
Disclaimer. I haul a 2.4 kg red label one.
(have worked for some decades before paying up it's price tag, pffar from being my first tent for that matter).
Always necessary on my hikes? No.
Would I want to be without it, when weather turns wild? No, absolutely not.
Are there plenty of alternatives for 4-season weather camping? Plenty.
Thanks for the video. I'll never buy a tent like that. I don't buy expensive outdoor gear. I buy X brand budget stuff, usually on offer or last season, and try it out. I've had a few failures over the years, but I also have cheap stuff that I've been using for a
very long time. My mat, sleeping bag, tent of which I have a few, cooking kit, clothing and boots are all what you would call very budget kit. They work for what I need them for. Naturally if I was given expensive gear I'd use it. But I'm happy with my gear, and I don't camp in very extreme conditions anyway.
@@Useaname you definitely don’t need this tent to enjoy the outdoors and go camping! Sounds like you’ve got things sorted! Thanks for watching!
Another well presented video
A few years ago, after a gap of many many years I wanted to try wild camping again, so started watching various RUclipsrs. Surprisingly, my very first video that I watched was The Scottish Wanderer, when he was camping in his Hilleberg tent, ending up having to return to his car early in the morning due to high winds. The tent was fine, but there was so much wind, sleep was impossible.
@@brianmorrison9168 yeah that’s the problem with camping in strong winds. I have seen people bail out on some videos due to high winds. Thanks for your comment.
Buying one this week! Probably in green. Haven’t decided though. How much? 🤣
@@chrishomer just taken delivery of it in red, unboxing video coming this evening. I sold the green one on eBay last week. I just preferred the red as IMO stands out better for photos.
@ ah ok. Might watch that. Thanks
I’ve owned quite a few Hillebergs over the years and for me the Soulo is the best one man tent money can buy. Yes it’s expensive but you get what you pay for. If wild camping is your passion and you want to be out in all weathers then you wont find a better tent. Just my opinion 👍
@@Paul-eu9jp I’ve sold this green one and just taken delivery of it in red, I’ll be doing an unboxing video soon. I just wanted it in red, totally agree with you 100%
@@DJVOutdoors nice one mate. I also sold my green soulo and bought a red one. Sold that one and now have a sand 😂. My Mrs goes nuts with me. Red is definitely the best colour for photos.
I wont climb mount everest, alone, so I settle for red lable tents. 😅
@@MrWipex I hear there isn’t much difference between the red and black label.
I’ll stick to my terra nova southern cross 1. Half the price & half the weight as soulo. And can easily stand up to anything the uk has to throw at it.
@@GazKendrick that’s some good feedback, I know of this tent and hear good things! Sounds like you’ve had it out in some strong winds?
Brilliant kit but would I spend 1K on a tent ⛺️ for the UK ! the answer is no but with that said many do ! And perhaps above 3000 / 4000 meters over seas it might be the kit one needs
Great watch
ATB Simon👍🤠🏔️
@@SetForAdventures thanks, it’s a lot of money for a tent, seen people get rid of them.
