Quarry Junction isn't spooky, imho. Its scary because of the deathclaws there which make it one of if not the deadliest places in the vanilla game (Dead Wind Cavern might be more deadly, because its tighter and harder to keep a safe distance), but its not what I would consider a spooky place. Its wide and open, and the sun shines brightly during the day. Dark abandoned buildings are what I'd consider spooky, even if there's not any hostile enemies in them. I've used to have dreams or perhaps you could say they were nightmares all the time, like constantly, that took place in old abandoned buildings, especially barns. So I can definitely get on board with the Mathews Animal Husbandry place, and the story surrounding it certainly adds to that. Mantis, I think you could easily make a part 2 to this video with another 10 locations you didn't include in this one. I'll list some of my suggestions if you want to use them: 1) The entire Repconn Test Site, and especially the basement in particular. It might be the spookiest place in my opinion. The feral ghouls and the invisible Nightkin in the basement make it pretty damn scary, but even after they're all cleared out the place is very unnerving. 2) Vault 34. Pretty much for the same reason as above, plus the feral ghouls respawn infinitely so you never truly clear it out. 3) Mesquite Mountain Crater and Hells Motel - an out of the way location I think I suggested you visit in your livestream of NV but I'm not sure if you ever went there. Its pretty scary early on because of the ghouls, and in particular a number of high tier Reavers which are a challenge to deal with at a low level. 4) The Devil's Throat. A radioactive pit full of centaurs as well as ghouls and super mutants in the vicinity. Its in the absolute top right of the map and is one of the strangest places in the game. 5) North of Mole rat ranch (a place that in itself is kinda creepy) there is an unmarked area with the Mad Brahmin and there's a tub full of gore, implaying someone had been feedng that to the Brahmin, and this is likely what makes them mad. There's also an unmarked building that you can enter and someone is using grow lights to grow maize inside of the house and then distilling it into moonshine illegally. Maybe not exactly spooky per se but kinda weird. 6) How could you forget the Vegas Sewers? Its entirely possible to play the entire game and never visit the sewers, or even be aware they exist, but if you do go down there it is a pretty scary place full of ghouls, rodents, and fiends. 7) Goodsprings Cave. A mysterious place without much going on, except for some corpses and a few coyotes. I made a video about it. A less scrupulous youtuber would just simply blame the coyotes and move on, but I think there could be more going on there. 8) Camp Guardian - Ranger Station Bravo will inform you of how they lost contact with the troops stationed there. When you go there you find the place abandoned, but there are logs scattered about that hint at some sort of monsters living in caves in the mountain. The inside of the caves are scary, but everything leading up to it builds up that suspense as well. 9) Vault 3 - This vault and what happened to it sort of vindicates the fears Overseer Jacoren had in the first Fallout game, because Vault 13 could very well ended up the same way. Unlike any other fiends in the Mojave, these aren't immediately hostile, but knowing what the acts of genocide they've committed to the inhabitants that once lived here, makes this place very spooky, in my opinion. 10) Broc Flower Cave - A very spooky place south of Novac, full of giant rodents as well as Lady Jane's pack Brahmin, which in itself is very mysterious as it has the severed head of the Lincoln Memorial statue strapped to it which apparently was broguht all the way to D.C.. This isn't the only mystery of the cave, either. There is the unique varmint rifle called Ratslayer, as well as a lot of scientific equipment, suggesting some sort of experiments went on here and that a scientist once lived here. This cave is not far from the Wrecked Highwayman and not far from Novac. There are fan theories that No-bark is none other than the Chosen One from FO2, because he's the right age for it, Cliff Briscoe has "That Gun" in his pawn shop, and the wrecked Highwayman broke down just to the south of the town, so everything leads the Chosen One to this town and from there the trail goes cold. Anyway, whether No-Bark actually is the Chosen One or not, he does say that he is a scientist and that a "cave rat" taught a magic spell. The mention of cave rats and being a scientist would seem to potentially connect him with that cave. But of course the evidence is all circumstantial. But regardless of whether its true or not, Broc Flower cave is indeed a very mysterious place which I'd love to have some more answers on. 11) Gibson's shack - This is close to Old Lady Gibson's junkyard, and inside there's a computer that Veronica and Elijah use to communicate and a skeleton on the bed, and a machete stuck in the wall with a severed finger attached. This is another mystery place I'd like to get some answers about. I guess it isn't really spooky per se, but it is something I'm very curious about. I posit that corpse on the bed could be Old Lady Gibson's husband. She mentions him being dead and the shack is near her house and it is called "Gibson's Shack" all these things make me think it is unlikely to be a coincidence. 12) Camp Searchlight - A place Vulpes and his boys destroyed similar to Nipton, but with a dirty nuke which left it radioactive and turned the troopers into ghouls. I'd say this place is on par with Nipton in terms of spookiness. 13) Cerulean Robotics - This abandoned place is very spooky, and there's a robot there that likes to shove its hand up your butt. Anyway, that's about it. Feel free to use these suggestions if you want to make a part 2 of this spooky locations in NV.
1. I have barely explored the Vegas sewers outside of the Thorn and North Vegas. 2. The Nightkin don't seem all that scary to me. Maybe it's because I always talk Davison into leaving the basement of the REPCONN test site. Or maybe it's because I have Lily around. 3. I always thought the Mequite Mt. Crater was pretty scary. I didn't find it until my last complete playthrough while I was doing some pre-Dead Money grinding and hunting for star caps. 4. Vaults 3, 11, 22, and 34 are all kinds of fucked up. I always kill all the Fiends in Vault 3 as punishment for massacring that vault's inhabitants. Vault 11 was rife with sex crimes and human sacrifice; what the fuck was Vault-Tec thinking? Vault 22 explains all the crazy plants in Zion, and the Biological Research Station's ending slide in Old World Blues explains where those plants really came from. Vault 34 is chock full of radiation and ghouls, and I only ever visit it ONCE per playthrough. I like to knock both Hard Luck Blues and the pulse gun portion of I Could Make You Care out in one shot. 5. I don't always go to Camp Guardian but when I do, it's never all that scary. Then again, I'm in the late 30s in levels, sometimes 40+ by the time I get there, with all the DLCs out of the way. 6. Higgs Village. So desolate. Spooky in that you can imagine the ghosts of the Think Tank scientists' old bodies walking around their houses. And there are no enemies there unless you're playing with the Wild Wasteland trait. That little Deathclaw is tough unless you go outside its range. Pop it with the Compliance Regulator to stun it, then finish it with a stronger weapon. 7. The entire Divide. Deathclaws, Marked Men, and Tunnelers, oh my! And those fucking satchel charges? I've tried maxing out my Explosives skill and can never disarm them. I always shoot them from afar.
I think that Quarry Junction is both incredibly frustrating and scary at lower levels (Especially when you suddenly get ambushed by Deathclaws). However, at higher levels, and considering you have the right gear and perks, the Deathclaws become much easier to take down. I usually exploit a couple of glitches to take down the Deathclaws, including one that tricks the Fat Man into firing ammo that wasn't intended for it.
The scariest thing is playing fallout for the first time, and going into primm pass to see a deathclaw as it rips your head off. I thought it was a damn demon or some shit I was freaked out.
I first played Fallout NV when I was 7 and as someone who's raised up in Las Vegas virtually everywhere was spooky for me considering I was extremely close to a lot of the places in the game. Thank you Mantis for review all of the spooky locations in the game :) love your videos man.
In Vegas, can you really just do whatever you want? My friend went there during one summer and literally emptied out the whole box of a SAW. Recorded it and everything
After going through Vault 11, that recording from Vault-Tec gave me such an intense sinking feeling. It was then I realized I was playing something special.
Great video as always! Other spooky places: Devil's throat, No Man's Land (between Nelson and Forlorn Hope), Vault 34, Vault 19 cave system and the Searchlight zone (airport and the city itself)
In my humble opinion, the entirety of the southeast portion of the map is pretty creepy. The Old Nuclear Test Site, the caverns along the cliffside of Cottonwood Cove, the irradiated remains of Camp Searchlight and its airport, and even the crashed vertibird are unsettling, chilling places. I always get goosebumps when I explore these locations.
Call me a wimp, but I think the entire setting of Dead Money is super spooky and awesome to play in the dark, with headphones on, all alone with only a beer and a bag of Cheetos for comfort.
I like how if you’re at the end of the game and a high level (idk what exactly triggers it) the guy at Sloan that tells you to watch out actually says he believes you can take them all out. Was kinda interesting when I was expecting the same response from the start of the game.
The Ultra Luxe creeped the hell out of me when I first played this game at the age of fifteen. I remember being very confused on what exactly to do during the quest or what was going on, and was considering just assuming everyone there was a cannibal and killing them all. Having the song Flame of the Ancient World playing in the basement made things so much worse. It was really satisfying to complete that mission when I came back to the game recently.
I remember the first time I went into Vault 22. Almost had a fucking heart attack when a spore creature jumped at me, and Boone (the real MVP) killed it.
So many people still play this game I thought I was the only one thank you so much @tk mantis do you think fallout new Vegas should be remastered with better graphics and more story 😅srry for me bad English
I would love to see FNV get remastered, but it is very unlikely. We will probably just have to continue to play what we have. Luckily it is one of the best games of all time.
I'd like to see FNV remastered and expanded upon, with stuff that was planned for the original Fallout 3, Van Buren. We did get plenty of stuff from Van Buren such as Caesar's Legion and Hoover Dam but why stop there?
There are so many good things about Fallout New Vegas and it's spooky locations as one of my favorites. Personally I never get scared while playing Fallout New Vegas personally one of my favorite things to do is to go into the Quarry with like 5 pistols and try and kill the deathclaws. Normally it works LOL. Anyway I have no idea where I was going with this so you have a great day mantis.
Love these spooky videos hope you do one for fallout 1 2 and 4 (maybe 76 but that may be difficult) Also I thought you were going to say vault 11 was heartbreaking because of the dead mantises
@Jordan Pilz Yeah. And it doesn't matter if I use console commands, if I'm very powerful or if they're dead. They keep freaking me out. The moment I ran into them for the first time I got nervous about exploring the rest of the world.
I covered what was really available. As this isn't a full-blown lore video, I wanted to have time to talk about each place, but not have the video be super long. Some of these places, like Lone Wold Radio, do not really have much to say about them. Thank you for the feedback Baka!
@@TKsMantis I get that, it's kind of hard to talk about Lone Wolf Station when all there is a lone trailer filled with scrap. Some of the other places you could have gone a little more in detail though.
remains at the Matthews Animal Husbandry Farm indicate at least three (iirc) people died there. two were in the house and one had their head skewered on a jutting piece of metal on a fence
I liked the mix of Art Deco and mission revival architecture but kept getting lost in the Villa portion of the Sierra Madre. Everything looks the same. At least in the town square and immediate surroundings, you have signposts telling you where everything is. But in Puesta del Sol and Salida del Sol, there's barely any variation or notable features to tell you where you are. The map on your Pip-Boy only tells you so much. Once you're in the casino/hotel portion of the DLC, it's smooth sailing.
Maybe you should do a video of the creepiest places in Point Lookout next time. Also Matthews animal husbandry farm left an eerie but mostly sad feeling for me because of the starving Brahmin. I love animals and it kinda made me feel a bit depressed about it.
TKs-Mantis you are very welcome Mantis. Maybe also covering some Fallout 1 or 2 content so,etiquette in the future if it's possible for you. I hope you have a great weekend
And you get even more spooked in Vault 22 when you find a room with baby bad and stroller and one spore carrier... Always gives me creeps... Honorable mentions: Cottonwood (buz mostly Cottonwood crater), Deathclaw Promontory, Searchlight Airport, Vault 34, Sewers of New Vegas, Camp Guardian, Jack Rabbit Springs, Hells motel exterior...
Vault 34, at least i think it’s that, the vault outside new Vegas filled with ghouls is creepy as hell. Completely destroyed and filled to the brim with the radioactive undead
The most spooky location is hands down the lone wolf radio shack. I say this coz originally the developers was going to make a recording over a hidden radio station that would crop up every night at 2 (if i remember correctly) playing out the murder of a random child each night leading ro a quest for the courier to stop said murderer. But the quest was scrapped due to how much it would cost in voice actors and the sheer darkness of the quest. A avid investigator however uncovered the files of this quest in the source files. Give it a look and you could find the story of lone wolf somewhere obscure. :)
So, Trash at the nuclear test site is supposed to be dead? In my game she's very alive. If I talk to her she just says "What?" And I cant say anything else to her. So that's kind of interesting.
For me the spookiest location was the game itself when a song like big iron began to loop infinitely and you just cant move or do anything And then you slowly realice that you dont quicksave before that.
Nice TKS mantis I'm getting the cosmic mantis shirt as soon as I can And Packing a bowl in your honor I better get back to packing my Bowl Now and enjoy the show peace TKS Mantis keep it up Only smoke rings here are the ones from the Kush I'm smoking G 😂
For me, it doesn’t matter how geared up I am, no matter over how many times I’ve been here, I will always have hesitation when going to vault 22. Shit’s scary lol
Deathclaws, all you need to make a place spooky. Because all you need to make a place spooky is to make it a death sentence just to enter the place! To bad deathclaws are to adorable in fallout 4 and 76...
Do you remember the resident evil 2 game? I used one track from the original for Vault 34... definitely ups the fear factor in the game... oh and I did the same for Vault 22.
Oct. of 2019...time to release a Fallout NV video. I am kidding, Fallout NV truly is something. It's one of the few games where the: "It's good now" excuse is acceptable.
@@TKsMantis Fallout NV was a buggy mess at launch. The version on GoG and Steam now is not the same that was at launch. Hey I love Fallout NV but it had a rough launch.
@@koriharpoon3357 I didn't say it wasn't filled with bugs lol. I said it has always been a great game. The story, RPG Mechanics, and overall vibes make it one of my favorite games to this day.
I never understood those who felt cemeteries where creepy. The truth is there is basically not a single piece of ground that humans use today that has not already been a place for a human death or burial site. Not to mention other animals, and other forms of life.. I tend to find cemeteries for the most part to be quite peaceful if anything. Especially at night. But that is me.
Most locations in New Vegas are spoopy just because of all the creatures that live in them. I really wish that there was something "dunwich building" spoopy.
I think there was some *super spooky creepy story* about how originally the guy running the radio station would give you a quest in which he would ask you to literally kill a child. But other than that story, I don't recall Lone Wolf actually being cut content.
Quarry Junction isn't spooky, imho. @Jordan Pilz Yeah. And it doesn't matter if I use console commands, if I'm very powerful or if they're dead. They keep freaking me out. The moment I ran into them for the first time I got nervous about exploring the rest of the world.
I was kind of hoping you'd go more into detail on some of these locations...
I love this game and i love your videos man, keep up to work you do i see you poppin off anytime soon for the fallout community
For years I've looked for a video like this, thanks Mantis. Glad to see you're back with your regular content.
- Oddball TV/ Ray Noble
Thank you for your kind words buddy.
@@TKsMantis No problem mate, just glad to see you're back into making the content you enjoy making and I enjoy watching.
Well made vid man
Back at it it at it again pimp I like it
Thanks, Jesus.
remains at the Matthews Animal Husbandry Farm indicate at least three (iirc) people died there. two were in the house and one had their head skewered on a jutting piece of metal on a fence
Dangerous doesnt mean scary.
That said, Quarry Junction is not scary, its just dangerous
Finally a spooky fallout new vegas countdown
In front of the dinosaur when somebody has a red beret on...
Sierra Madre was my favorite DLC aesthetically.

Keep this stuff up mantis.
Keep up the good job
Thank you.
Reconn test sight with the nightkin randomly jumping at at you and the vibe in general should be here.
I just got done with vault 11, like a hour ago before my game froze.
Quarry junctions: I am the most dangerous place in the Mojave
Courier: [laughs in anti-material rifle]
Anti Materiel Rifle + weapon mods + perks + explosive ammo = dead Deathclaws
They seriously should do a remaster of this game with all dlc included
Nope. Still a masterpiece but a second New Vegas would be nice.
Maybe you should do a video of the creepiest places in Point Lookout next time. Also Matthews animal husbandry farm left an eerie but mostly sad feeling for me because of the starving Brahmin. I love animals and it kinda made me feel a bit depressed about it.
All of Point Lookout is pretty spooky, so it would be fun to find the creepiest parts. Thanks for the suggestion, Macey!
TKs-Mantis you are very welcome Mantis. Maybe also covering some Fallout 1 or 2 content so,etiquette in the future if it's possible for you. I hope you have a great weekend
Keep up the good work
Did you ever cover the dlc locations in another video?
I think Trash was a nod to the Return of the Living Dead character of the same name .
Amazing video.
Thank you for your kind words.
Just the video I didnt know I wanted to see. Just as Im enthralled in the wasteland right now and its the spooky season ^_^
Quarry junction where boys become men and men become salty men
Men become meals
What do you think of the Elder Scrolls games
So, Trash at the nuclear test site is supposed to be dead? In my game she's very alive. If I talk to her she just says "What?" And I cant say anything else to her. So that's kind of interesting.
If u attack boxcars ge stands up
According to ingame dialogue, Nipton was a shady, unfriendly town before the legion attack.
Lone wolf radio always creeped me out
Same for me Josh. Just sitting there, all spooky and what not.
For me the spookiest location was the game itself when a song like big iron began to loop infinitely and you just cant move or do anything
And then you slowly realice that you dont quicksave before that.
Awesome!!
9:22 "Bitch, I eat people!"
Surprised vualt 32 isn't here, the radiation ridden dark destroyed vault filled with the zombified husk of its residents
Deathclaws, all you need to make a place spooky. Because all you need to make a place spooky is to make it a death sentence just to enter the place! To bad deathclaws are to adorable in fallout 4 and 76...
Adorable huh?
Have you not seen their adorable little lizard face! Just makes me want to hug it! Granted I've always liked reptiles so it might be a bit biased...
Do a top 10 scariest vaults for Halloween
ALL OF THEM
Vault 11 is something out of The Twilight Zone.
The entirety of Dead Money.
Spookfeast good job (:
Thanks a lot!
Dead wind cavern. I was recently foolish enough to go in, not knowing what was there...
Another scary location imo is lucky 38
When I saw Quarry Junction at #9 I shit myself because what is scarier than a fuckton of Deathclaws in New Vegas? XD
weary traveller? or Courier 6?
Do you remember the resident evil 2 game? I used one track from the original for Vault 34... definitely ups the fear factor in the game... oh and I did the same for Vault 22.
RE2 is a great game!
This game is 10 years old!
Still one of the best.
Scariest place the area where Bonnie springs is at with the I 15 to New Vegas.
Oct. of 2019...time to release a Fallout NV video. I am kidding, Fallout NV truly is something. It's one of the few games where the: "It's good now" excuse is acceptable.
Good now? This game has been gold since release. I hope you aren't surprised when I cover the first two Fallouts in this series lol
@@TKsMantis Yeah. I was actually just playing Lonesome Road. NV is a wonderful game through and through.
I used 67 Mini nukes To Kill Deathclaw
Quarry junction easy tutorial: Go to the small pond in the back left of the quarry and pick up the fat man from the water. And let them explode
I forgot lone wolf radio I went there and left after not being able to use the radios
Spoopy
I never understood those who felt cemeteries where creepy. The truth is there is basically not a single piece of ground that humans use today that has not already been a place for a human death or burial site. Not to mention other animals, and other forms of life.. I tend to find cemeteries for the most part to be quite peaceful if anything. Especially at night. But that is me.
Isn't it odd both vaults 11 and 111 had a sole survivor.
Are we going to overlook the name of a location “ANIMAL HUSBANDRY”?!?! 0_o
Petition to rename behemoths to "big 'ol super mutants"
Crazy ppl are still putting up videos for this game
I uploaded a Fallout 3 episode before this one.
personally i think vault 22 should be higher. but i guess not everyone has a specific phobia triggered by that cursed hellhole
The most creepy place is the atomic wrangler after wang dang atomic tango
What's up TKs Mantis? How are you doing today?
I am well. How are you?
@@TKsMantis I'm doing quite well, thank you for asking!
Only one thing is scarier than any location in the Mojave, that is the moldy Power Armor helmet.
No, it's when you have a kid who writes Fallout 76 on their Christmas list.
Oh no..That's dreadful..
Wowzers
@@Professional_Ghost I think that's when you buy him fallout 3 and put it in the 76 disc case, it's a kid they'll get over it.
@@skullnsuit7808 HA HA HA HA!...
Are there more spooky places?
Most locations in New Vegas are spoopy just because of all the creatures that live in them. I really wish that there was something "dunwich building" spoopy.
I agree.
Wasn't Lone Wolf just cut content that they didn't have time to fully implement?
I think there was some *super spooky creepy story* about how originally the guy running the radio station would give you a quest in which he would ask you to literally kill a child.
But other than that story, I don't recall Lone Wolf actually being cut content.
you can find Trash alive
