It's meant to be a kind of antithesis to Holy Fire, with Luna knowing Tia feels the same darkness she feels with Daybreaker.

There's something about the line "There are no words for such a dark despair, when the only light comes from who put you there" that just hits pretty hard. It perfectly encapsulates centuries of resentment, anger, and rage from Nightmare Moon, that her jailer is her only source of light. Her jailer is her way out. I can't adequately put into words just how great this line is.
This song resembles something I went through, truly songs tend to have a meaning that wasn't always intended
That line caught my attention as well. Solitary confinement is quickly becoming frowned upon as a practice because it robs the mind of social interaction that the psyche requires to remain intact. Taking this away from an already psychotic and emotionaly unstable mind would produce only the perfect nightmare for the world to behold.

There's a rhythm to this that is more addicting than drugs. I'm usually not into this kind of metal but god damn do I love this.
idk this is probably my least liked song out of everything PW has ever made. something was just off with his voice IMO but most likely its just slightly out of my taste. i don't dislike it but I don't love it either. its an odd in between feeling.
I myself like every time of song as long as it isn't really bad or is a song with a bad meaning because I like songs with great meaning, a song about geting high is not my first choice in my opinion it would be the last.

This is either the best song on the album or the second best, after Solidarity. This one is edgy as all hell but in a good way. Also the background art is sick with animated version being even more amazing.

Twitter and Tumblr aren't good places to store or search for art. They're just newsfeeds instead of databases. I have no earthly idea why some artists only put their stuff on the internet equivalent of disposable newsprint.

I know i'm a little late to the party, but can i just say that i love that background art for this? It's not as fine or soft looking as some of the other songs' art, it's more rough around the edges and it looks a whole lot more twisted. Realy captures the raw feeling you get from listening to this song amazingly.

Drowning in feedback part just sounds off to me.
Yeah I did not get that phrase. It did sound off and a bit strange compared to the rest of the song.
I liked it, it made me think of her actions (and Celestia's) coming back in echoes to her over the thousand years she was locked away.

I mean I write music on the side as a hobby so I'm just bringing up artistic criticism is all.

Saying you didn't get the line, okay, asking for an explanation, sure, writing a full analysis of the song on your blog, great! But sending an actual "fix" for the lyrics to the artist is a bit... rude? I guess it's just me considering the number of thumbs up.
Well, harm's already done so I'll propose a counterargument. The original text has a 6-5-6-5 syllable count at this point of the song, so I'm not sure how you think you can get "seas of black" in there. I'm also unsure what the sea would be a metaphor for. There's no water-related vocabulary in the song, so if anything, using the word "sea" only makes the word "drowning" sound even more literal.
However, we also have the words _voice_ and _screaming_ in the song. A sound is said to be drowned when there's too much noise to clearly hear it. Feedback is a term also used to speak of sound that leaves a speaker only to reenter a microphone that feeds back into a speaker. "A thousand screaming years drowning in feedback" therefore refers to the thousand years Nightmare Moon spent on the moon hearing nothing but her own screams of rage, screams which only kept her rage alive. Or the feedback could also refer to Celestia's last words to her sister, the only thing Luna had to think about for a millennium.

Honestly, not much in terms of lyrics, but what is there is extremely powerful. I also love the way you vocalized on this one. I must say Betrayer is probably one of my favorites of yours. Metal and poetic. Just..wow.

I'd like to imagine this song takes place in an alt.universe where Celestia was the one overcome with envy instead of Luna and decided to trap Luna on the moon because of her envy and covered it up by claiming Luna had turned against Equestria but through out the centuries without her sister she was overcame with guilt and eventually set her free,however,1000 years of solitary confinement and feelings of betrayal drove Luna to pure madness resulting in her coming back with a murderous vengeance as Nightmare Moon

I recently started reading the “Past Sins” story and I can’t get the fact that once I finish it I’ll have to find another story to read and after that, another, and while I do think of story’s in my head that I feel would look great on paper, but I don’t have the skills to write, or type it out to make it into a good story for other people to read.
Penstroke, the writer of Past Sins, writes other fics too, especially sequals and successors to Past Sins. There's quite a bit there.
