@@bluntly- Yes and no, because I mean the super-stale, super-white bread that is meant to be toasted. Here in germany, we call it (losely translated) toast bread, or toast, even if its not toasted.
For anybody wondering: "The Old Neighborhood" remained open for 2 years after the episode aired. The owners sold the restaurant in 2016. A new restaurant called "The Butchery" is now open at the location, offering steaks and seafood. They opened around 2023. Kati Allo is also closed. The restaurant shut its doors just days after the airing of their episode in 2014 on Kitchen Nightmares, stating it was closing for "remodeling". While their doors never opened again, a new restaurant called "Kalamaki" took their place. They opened in July of 2014. Bella Luna also closed their doors in late 2014. Reasons for closure was reportedly a dispute with their landlord. Another reason for their closure is the accusation that they were selling alcohol without a liquor license. The restaurant did have a successful run after their episode aired but it lasted only 3.5 months. The owners mentioned upon their closing, that they planned to reopen Bella Luna. However, at this time, nobody knows if those plans will ever come true.
I hate to tell you this but as a person that worked in restaurants. The health department calls months ahead to schedule their visit meaning every place I’ve worked we clean top to bottom the day before then do whatever the rest of the year. I’ve even worked in a restaurant that failed an inspection and nothing ever happened with it.
health inspections are a joke in some places where i'm from my general manager from my old job just talked to the inspector for about 20 mins and then they both signed off on a good inspection. there was fruit fly maggots in multiple places and mold with dust as well, we served fish that was supposed to be fresh and raw but was not and definitely not at the right temps. we definitely should've failed and be shut down but we passed 🙃🙃
29:00 they begging because they want Gordon to renovate that place for free, and they want to sell that place at higher price with the new decor and furniture. And yeah that place already close long before the show aired. every episode also the same. 90% of the restaurant they visited closed.
It's far from free. Ramsay and his company do these things in exchange for a significant equity into the company. If they close or sell the place, a significant portion still goes to him and if they stay open he continues to get a portion of it.
The first episode, that restaurant actually was still open and remained open for 3 years after the episode aired, They did eventually sell the restaurant in 2016. While it is true that many Kitchen Nightmare restaurants do close, there are also many success stories.
The coolest observation I made of the 1st family, (The Old Neighborhood) was the son hugging & supporting both parents, & the parents supporting each other. No in-fighting, just a lot of support for each other. Also, everybody seemed to be locked in on what Gordon was telling them to be wrong. They were a good family, who simply lost their way, until Ramsay came to The Old Neighborhood. Great episode!
As one who has managed (not owned) a couple restaurants, you absolutely SHOULD. I tried my best but as just one manager, I alone couldn't do much because everyone else was set in their ways including my bosses.
I hate to tell you this but as someone who has worked in many restaurants. Health inspection reports and numbers mean nothing. The health department notifies the restaurant MONTHS in advance when they are going to perform their inspection. So naturally every restaurant has a big clean the day before and doesn’t give a shit the rest of the year.
@@janaR457thankfully I’ve never see it as bad as kitchen nightmare but it’s crazy to me that they schedule the visits months in advance it totally defeats the purpose of the check. Its crazy that some owners think their food is delicious and than get upset when the most famous, well renowned chef in the world thinks its gross, they are absolutely clueless and have no idea why customers arent coming in. There is A scottish restaurant (the abstract) but i can’t find the episode anymore. But that is straight michalin chefs in a kitchen. Everything is 100%. They were too posh for their town though 🤷🏻♂️
There are some, but mostly in UK version. America has to have a lot of drama and I am not sure if any got some good food (one got nice desserts made by mom of the owner).
A lot of these places are in America. While it is true the health department will shut you down. You don't often get a visit from them ever. Most of the places with good grades actually prepare extensively for there visits and then call them to get a visit...it's rare they do shit spontaneously
Why would any reasonable consultant try to save these places in the first place? Once you have neglected hygiene so much, you will end up doing it again and again. Cleanliness is an ongoing habit. These people are far beyond any hope of rescue.
The first people put the restaurant up for sale advertising what ramsey did litterally as the show aired, and it finally sold in 2016. They basically just used Ramsey to make more money.
The Kati Allo renovation of the restaurant...the reveal is one of my favorite moments on this entire show. I love seeing people that happy ❤️ the show did a gorgeous job with the restaurant

me but w pre made chicken nuggets and frozen smiley faces that would be served to a 10 year old
Bro. Untoasted toast and tuna right out of the can.
same im eating supermacs rn
@@Abfallkannibale "Untoasted toast" sooo, bread?
@@bluntly- Yes and no, because I mean the super-stale, super-white bread that is meant to be toasted. Here in germany, we call it (losely translated) toast bread, or toast, even if its not toasted.
They went from being the most obstinate to the most humbled people.
When Gordon heard they cleaned five day before he got there he literally stumbled back into some boxes like it was a movie.
Father❤ Yahweh is cmoeing
Gordon loves to touch all sorts of dirt from untouchable places 😂
the second he finds something gross his hand just goes straight into it like wtf 😭😭
im confused do health inspections never happen in these places cause it doesnt seem like it
Pretty much nopw. They don't really bother unless there's reports or you request them.
Usually they are planned meetings so the owners know when they’re coming. They do just enough to pass.
I swear everytime we'd get inspections we would always fail them
I hate to tell you this but as a person that worked in restaurants.
I like the part when the two got a dressing down from Gordon, and the Son gave his dad a cuddle, so sweet.
I love the person who manages this account. You are perfect
Every owner in this show. "The food is not the problem!"
I'm not a hoarder, I just don't like throwing things away
Literally the definition of a hoarder 😂
UPDATE: After filming it was revealed that Alexa and Randy had both been having affairs with Fiona!!
What
HAHAHAHA 🤣
wait so Fiona was playing both of them:,)😭
@@emmacottaa Yes...She ain't no dummy!!🤣
Which episode is this?
The coolest observation I made of the 1st family, (The Old Neighborhood) was the son hugging & supporting both parents, & the parents supporting each other. No in-fighting, just a lot of support for each other.
Also, everybody seemed to be locked in on what Gordon was telling them to be wrong. They were a good family, who simply lost their way, until Ramsay came to The Old Neighborhood. Great episode!
I love the concept of gordon helping other people and giving tips on how to succeed in life
Literally nobody else noticed they just played the same episode twice in a row?
I did
Yeah, noticed as well.
Ya.😮
Ok cool not just me
27:49 Gordon is not even acting for the camera at this point, it’s just pure bewilderment and shock 💀
Alexa and Randy 😂 my lord wow.. How do the places on KN operate with the horrific health hazards.. I have such trust issues because of this show 😂😂😂
As one who has managed (not owned) a couple restaurants, you absolutely SHOULD.
@@MissH2333 fair enough. I have worked in my fair share but never seen it that bad..
@@janaR457thankfully I’ve never see it as bad as kitchen nightmare but it’s crazy to me that they schedule the visits months in advance it totally defeats the purpose of the check. It’s like of CPS called an abusive family and said “hey we are going to come visit your house to see if your children are being abused next week at 6:45 on Tuesday”
@@MissH2333 always check reports now where i live only go to places without issues never steered me wrong. before i started id gotten sick a few different times. guess it really depends on the staff at the time, but it may help to check
imagine spending an hour + cleaning out a fryer only for it to get tossed, gutting
They avoided doing something for a decade that should be done every night. Don’t feel too bad
Responsibility
2:21:07 is how someone who intends on whooping ass stands up
Its crazy that some owners think their food is delicious and than get upset when the most famous, well renowned chef in the world thinks its gross, they are absolutely clueless and have no idea why customers arent coming in. Duhhh, food is gross and decor is gross= no customers!! Why would anyone want to eat there..is beyond me!! A rather starve than pay money to eat horrible, disgusting food in a dirty place!!
I dont think im a hoarder, its just hard for me to throw things away.
- every hoarder ever
I'd hate to be a FNG and all of a sudden Gordon shows up and makes me scrub walls for 12 hours straight lmao
"It's fresh." holding a bag of frozen calamari, "We buy it fresh, it's fresh." still holding that same bag of FROZEN calamari!!!
"I don't like frozen food."
Has a freezer full of frozen food.
"But I don't like it frozen." and a few seconds later "Is frozen so bad, is that why we failed?"...
I remember watching these episodes when they first aired and it has forever changed what resturants I eat at.
1:03:33 I woke up at 3 AM to go to the bathroom and this was randomly playing, and this part came on literally while I’m sleeping and I just burst out laughing uncontrollably😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bro the way he be raw dogging the food I don't even like to touch the wet food in the sink 🥲😭😂
i absolutely HATE carpet in a restaurant. but this dump Randy calls a restaurant takes the cake
Love these failing restaurant owners claiming their food is fresh and 10/10. If it's all that then why aren't you making money?
I've never seen a KN episode with fresh food. It's always frozen lol
amy's baking company and an african restaurant had baked goods that gordon complemented but that's about it
fresh frozen is the best
There is A scottish restaurant (the abstract) but i can’t find the episode anymore. But that is straight michalin chefs in a kitchen. Everything is 100%. They were too posh for their town though 🤷🏻♂️
There are some, but mostly in UK version. America has to have a lot of drama and I am not sure if any got some good food (one got nice desserts made by mom of the owner).
Mamas soulfood in the UK. He demolished the plate
How the HELL do these places never get inspected and closed??????????
A lot of these places are in America. While it is true the health department will shut you down. You don't often get a visit from them ever. Most of the places with good grades actually prepare extensively for there visits and then call them to get a visit...it's rare they do shit spontaneously
@@doot7730that’s not true
Why would any reasonable consultant try to save these places in the first place? Once you have neglected hygiene so much, you will end up doing it again and again. Cleanliness is an ongoing habit. These people are far beyond any hope of rescue.
They get a piece of the restaurant and if it doesn't work out they still get money from producing the show... it's a win/win
gordon not only saving restaurants but he saving marriages too😭💞
Gordon ramsay, chef and couples therapist
Evelyn is a beautiful person. I love how Gordon was with her. You can tell he's a good dad.
Not sure if anyone ever mentioned that but there is one episode here in this video that play twice! XD
Soooo no one going to talk about the raid fly traps over Gordon’s Head in the kitchen of the first restaurant 😅 25:14
“Does that remind you of Greece?”
“Only I taste garlic….and Greece.”
Grease😂😂😂
I lost it when the mannequin started falling apart 😂
Ramsey can fix anything in "just 2 minutes" lol
The lady sprayed nonstick spray on a steak. What level of delusion are you on where you think that would be acceptable to feed someone?
I worked in a deli and I wouldn't serve anything I wouldn't eat myself
All the owners act like they have never seen the show before 😆
The first people put the restaurant up for sale advertising what ramsey did litterally as the show aired, and it finally sold in 2016. They basically just used Ramsey to make more money.
When she tossed that mannequin 😂
My Alexa (amazon) had to be turned off for this episode
Everytime when Gordon rips off the fridges etc. I'm always like 'pls, do not continue, hell no'
The Kati Allo renovation of the restaurant...the reveal is one of my favorite moments on this entire show. I love seeing people that happy ❤️ the show did a gorgeous job with the restaurant
CHEF GORDON: Have a taste of that. That is a very simple puree of cauliflower.
MANNY: It's just cauliflower? 😲
CHEF GORDON: Just cauliflower.
MANNY: 🤨
I'm so glad that moment was on this video twice, cos I had to see that reaction again! LOL!
In a British episode he makes broccoli soup alongside an owner. The owner dumps 15 things in the soup and it tastes horrid. Gordonsis made with broccoli only.
This is perfect material for just chillin' or binge watching.
At least Gordon is consistent. First he throws all the hoarded stuff in the trash and shortly after that $60,000. One can hardly wait for the new kitchen to be exactly as dirty as the old one.
Pops looks like jig saw 😂😂😂
Bug eyed Randy with his eyebrows pulled all the way to the back of his head. It’s all the joy I need
The reaction Christina had to the new decor… that woman has my entire heart
It always baffles me when they say " word of chef's visit has spread" and everybody flocks to waste their money lol. Don't they know why he's there?!? Do they really wanna be on TV that bad?!?
“We serve that sh.. “. 😂
Gordon gave Randy such a hard time, by 18:12 minutes into it Randys tie started to disintegrate.
The tuba looked like it just needed to be polished again.
"People have been coming here for 33 years, the food can't be that bad!"
Sir, how many of those people are REPEAT customers???
19:55 "I don't really think that I'm a hoarder, it's just hard for me to throw things away" LMFAOOOOOO. Self-awareness is like, non-existent with this man.
2:20:44 And omg, watching this back and forth with Ramsay still irritates me all these years later. I wonder if this lady ever got it through her head that if you buy fresh ingredients and freeze them for later use, they're no longer considered fresh. She seriously gives me the worst secondhand embarrassment whenever she speaks in this episode lol.
