I recently got a 2 cylinder Perkins to hit into a stock 446 frame complete with front pto to run all attachments. I used a quad rad to keep the stock hood. Just had to move the hinge ahead.
I just watched your newest video with your little Perkins swap the hood looks awesome that’s what I need to do did you put two hoods together or did you make the extension out of sheet metal can’t even see the seam on the video. And Did you know your videos don’t allow comments?
@@223mt I had another rusted out hood that I cut an end section off to extend my current hood by 3 inches I was able to utilize the original hold downs. It was a little tricky with a stick welder but it blended nicely with minimal bondo. The second swap I did not modify the hood other them flipping the hinge. I did weld a piece onto the dash so the hood now sits over the lip. Another video will bo coming soon.
This is awesome. I have a case 444 that i built a loader for. Currently has a 14hp kohler. Would love to do this swap. Do you have any videos of this tractor in action after the engine swap?
These engines are hard to find. I thought about putting one in a sears st16 or a JD212, but they’re both a belt drive & can’t really fit, plus the extra weight of a 200+lb engine probably wont work long term.
I find your project interesting Curious what kubota motors are constant vs adjustable rpm on those mowers…I’m guess the hydraulic pump driven are constant…..(looking for a source motor for a farm driven Sami)
From what I’ve seen most mowers are adjustable RPM but Engines from generators or the front of refrigerated semi trailers are constant like either they’re at idle or work rpm and nothing in between.
@@223mt thanks for diving in I’ve noticed mower engines are pretty spent by the time parted out But your find is exceptional..and starts easily….no need to build up cranking pressures. Rebuilding or pressing in new sleeves is so $$$ prohibitive Not many are looking for the 2 or 3 banger…perfect for pushing a Sami around with fruit crates…plus engine and tranny are light and small …… and lots of parts are out there…..
I have a 446 without an engine and recently bought a Kubota 3 cylinder. I saw that you extended the front to fit the radiator but I couldn't tell how you did the hydraulic cooling system and how did you still get the hood to meet with the steering console properly since you moved the hood mount forward? I'm a bit perplexed as you how you did that.
The hydraulic cooling system had metal lines that run forward and then a chunk of hose between the metal line and the tank I just extended the hose part. I haven’t got the hood to fit properly yet I was always going to buy another hood and weld them together like this guy says he did in the video link below ruclips.net/video/XstCxzlr60k/видео.html
@@223mt you got me started looking at fairway mowers with Kubota engines….seems like there’s still some life left after 2,500 to 3,000 hrs…the mower being on its last legs….the engines are size wise perfect for a samurai…but are pump drivers and not clutch compatible….the inj pump may also not be ideal….
@@offgridmangogrower cool ya I agree. You might want to look for a d722 I think it’s similar size block but closer to 20hp it doesn’t have wet sleeves so they fit a lot bigger pistons in there.
@@223mt I would hate to drag a whole heavy mower home just for a 120# baby kubota motor…mowers listed are miles from our location…so patience….patience.

Cool hope to see a video of it!
@@223mt just loaded a couple videos.
Currently working on a second swap

I’m doing this work enough for case 446 where the Regenia Italian engine two cylinder engine air cooler

That's plenty of power for the tractor.
Just picked up a D600 from a Jacobsen.
Hoping to squeeze it under the hood of a Case 448.

I’d check engine weights…my 2 banger can’t be more than 100#

What’s the engine rated at?
Hours on it before pulled?….sounds like there’s plenty of tractor life left.
It’s 600cc 14hp 3200rpm. The The hour meter said about 3800
