This is the only vid you need to watch. The 30 seconds to move the window guide is worth 45 minutes. That was brilliant. Excellent video. Thanks!!
Just replaced mine. Fairly easy with your video. I used a mirror to help see which made it much easier. Thank you so much, saved me $100's of dollars!
This video walked me through the process on my 2005 civic ex special edition in case anyone is wondering about model years!
Awesome short and sweet video wish this guy should be famous
Just changed my passenger lock actuator! Your video was a HUGE help! Thanks so much. Took less than 1 hour. I owe you a beer... or 12! Thanks again!
Thank you for the video. Mechanic tried to charge me $200 and said it would take almost 2 hours. I did this is 20 minutes and spent $30.
You sir are THE MAN! Like the guy below me, I struggled like hell for over an hour and then I found this wonderful video. The rear was no problem but I would still be fighting if it weren't for you. I was almost there but was afraid to take that 10mm bolt out for the window track:) now I know how to do the other side thanks to you! Well done and thanks again!
sounds like you were in the military from your directions. thank you for your service. if im wrong, than thanks for the directions. doing my pilot ths week, hope its close, didnt pull door off yet . good call on the thread lock and suggestion to test before re assembly . often overlooked, and regretted.
Just used this today on my 2003. Great video very helpful.
I used your instructions to replace actuator on front passenger door on 2001 Civic LX. Hardly any differences in the instructions. The only hitch i had was the head of one of the screws holding the actuator on stripped out. So by removing the three screws holding the door latch i was able to get better access to the old actuator and drill numerous small holes in the plastic housing surrounding the stripped screw. Then i broke the housing exposing the shaft of the stripped screw, and with a small pair of vise grips, grab the shaft of the screw and turn it until it came out, Necessity is the mother...... Thanks so much for taking the trouble to do this. It saved me $$.
I bookmarked your video because I'm about to do mine on the passenger side as soon as I get my actuator in. Excellent walk through on the procedure. Even though I have just an LX I got the idea of what to do.
super helpful! how to change the actuator in 3:28 min. this is very close to my 2005 civic sedan as well. thank you for the video.
Worked great. Thanks. Note that you need to put the door in the locked position to install the actuator lever. It will expose the post making it easier. And, The plastic factory actuator cover does not fit all aftermarket actuator assembly. So I just chucked it.
This was very well put together.
Just finished mine and its working! Some tips. When you pull the door panel out, on the handle side there is actually a piece of plastic you will need to slide out instead pulling. For the lock assembly screw, do not use ordinary phillips screw driver. I almost stripped mine but fortunately I hate a phllips bit that fitted "Perfectly" along with the socket wrench I used. My impact doesnt have this adapter. And for the last part where you have to yank it out there is actually no pin or anything
I just finished doing this to my ep3r. exept I just cleaned whole assembly with degreaser.2 hours later ! success
Great video, helped me out a lot. Not too many videos out there on how to do this with a 7th gen sedan front door. The back doors are a breeze, wish they would have made the front doors the same.
thanks for making it, going to help me a lot rebuilding my honda
Thanks. Very good pictures and great instructions.
Thanks for making this video. You're my hero
thanks for the video, better saves me $$$
Good diy video. My drive side power lock stopped working and I removed the door panel to troubleshoot. Motor is good but I hear the actuator making noises so that’s the problem. Seems like a real pain to get my hand in there but now I see all I have to do is remove that rail. Thanks!
thank you very much for this video it really helped me to get the confidence in me to do it ! And it helped to do the job also, for sure :P
Thank you! Don't ever take this down!
Thanks for this video. Really helpful!
Thanks for the good tutorial.
thank you for making this video and being helpful
thanks for doing this video...very very helpful.
used (again) for a 2002 si. thanks!
If you put the door in the lock position, that little green tab will move out from under the piece of metal, making it a lot easier to remove and replace.
Thank you so much! BTW the steps are same for the passenger door also.
It would be good if you did a video of how to determine if that existing actuator was not working. I have a Civic EU8 4Dr with key only power lock and both front and rear passenger door ( right side ) don't lock or unlock ( when you use the key in driver's side )
Both other doors and boot ( hatch ) lock and unlock fine.
I'm not a technician so would like to see the easiest way to find out where the issue is.
Thanks so much!!!
Thanks! Looks like my 2003 CRV's actuator replacement is near identical.
thank you very much
Nice, thank you
Thanks homie
thank you so much
Thank you.
thanks a lot
Yes, this was helpful, mostly because I would not have tried if this video wasn't here, BUT... this was not easy. It is much easier to stick a camera into the door cavity than to stick your head in there, so all the details are hard to see. Many tricky parts glossed over by this video. So this video is basically a macho "yeah man, it was easy!" boast, but really, people could use a little more help... yeah, I figured it out in the end, but be ready to spend like 3 hours not 10 minutes...
Would these steps also work for a 2000 Honda Civic ex?
I like the part where you said "It's gone."
I am also having problems with my door lock actuator. I replaced the window regulator and when I put everything back together my door wouldn't lock and unlock. I had noticed it would barely move before so I guess it just went out. I have pulled the actuator out completely but I noticed I can't pull or push the rod up or down unless I also pull on the door handle. Is this normal? My key locks and unlocks the car fine but I would have thought that with the actuator out I would be able to lock and unlock it with the rod that sticks up
this video saved my ass. and it's gone
ITS GONE
i have an EP3,
when I lock drivers side door,
the passanger side door won't lock.
same with unlocking.
when I use the lock/unlock switch for the hatch
on drivers side, it doesn't lock the passanger side door.
sounds like i need to do this correct??
(thank your for ur help)
How do I know which actuator needs to be replaced? 2004 Honda Accord LX.
Thanks
Hi, I just did the procedure but the lock still isn't functioning with my remote. I know for a fact that my passenger side just gone bad recently, do u think i should replace the passenger side first in order for me to get the driver side to work? I checked the fuse...remote, everything looks fine...i'm at loss here thx
My problem is as follows: when i try to open the car with the remote only the trunk lock works. Front left almost works, while front right does nothing. Is this the cause?
Is the 2 door different? Mines nothing like this
I don't think its the actuator. Apparently I need to reset the key code. I can unlock the doors from the remote and inside the car. However, I cannot lock the doors from the inside or using the remote. But if I manually lock all doors and then press the Lock on the remote, the lights flash and it honks. Its not one door. All 4 are doing this.
Thanks for your help though.
Same process with civic lx/ ex 01??
Super
Hey I see you put dynamat in your doors, how well does it help with road noise?
How much did the sound may work
How many sf did u use
what size have the loudspeakers...?
@GreenGook Thanks....
is it a common problem for the power doors to fail on 2003 ep3? my driver side power lock is not working but my passenger side is with the remote. So it must be the lock actuator right?
You roll the window up before you start.
Does anyone know if this would apply to an '01 Civic?
I have Honda Civic 2005 model. My drive side front door is working with the Keys but doesn't work with remote. All the other doors are working perfectly fine. Do you recon it is the same issue ?
Yes
Did Mr Honda fix this problem yet ??
Does anyone have a video on how to remove the door panel?
When my car is on the lock unlock work using the interior switch on the door. However when car is off it won't lock with the switch. Only locks using the key in the key hole. Do you think it's the actuator?
It sounds like it might be a lack of power to the actuator... test to see if the actuator is getting power with key on Access position (car off) - Also, I'd suggest checking the wiring thru the rubber boot/connect that goes from the car to the door (as wiring may be frayed/broken)... GL
in my case, only work one, change the bad lock actuator or change the two, what do you suggest?
kenny quesada if it ain't broke, don't fix it
same goes to 72155-SDA-A01? ...im assuming.
I just got done finishing the job... This door is a BITCH compared to the other doors (rear door on the sedan version are easy). You need your phone to be able to see where the screws are and get a GOOD LIGHT. God damn fuck this door, putting the damn door panel back on was a bitch took forever.
Still looks hard ha ha!
Charlie Kao ur right it was
how do u know when it time to replace it?
strickmans you stupid or what?
What if my key doesn't go all the way in? I can't open it with my key.
It could be the actuator, or perhaps it's an issue with the actual latch part (or, rarely, something broken/loose inside of the key socket).
doubledoubleandfries I have that exact same problem. My actuator broke years ago so I was dealing with opening the door with my key. Now the key won’t go all the way in, sometimes it does if I wiggle it, but it’s getting worse and worse. I open the passenger side and open the lock manually but it’s a pain. Gonna replace that actuator, but that’s not gonna fix the keyhole cylinder issue.
could this be the reason why i cant lock or unlock the doors with the switch???????
Yes. Most likely it's the actuator (if you've already checked battery on Alarm Remote & Fuses
Datbechris no its the switch itself
yes your showing how to change it. But your car door is open, my is not.
"It's gone." lulz
Be careful guys I broke the little plastic tab, now I have to remove the whole latch
"Boom it's gone".....where did it go =(
How about you put the generation in the title
He called my hands fat :(
