- Edd has brought a 1.9 litre Peugeot 205 GTI into his workshop. The first challenge is to fix the gear linkage.

Theres a massive thread about this car over on the 205 forum.
If they're unable to sell a car in time on Wheeler Dealers they get one of the crew to stand in as the buyer. The girl who allegedly bought the 205 was indeed one of the crew. It was eventually sold to someone on the 205 forum and it turned out to be a complete nail. The smoke coming from the back which Ed fixed with some new gear linkages,turned out to be a huge crack in the block. Got sold on 2 or 3 times since.
I wouldn't think for a second that a gear linkage would make it smoke like that.
I knew it wouldn't be gear linkage, it would have been something more terminal. I have heard this before about them selling cars on to the crew. Also some of the cars not been all that either once they have been sold on.
205 1.9 gti is forever the best little car of all times. When i was young i own it a 130cv engine and its a great experience in sportive driving...
Yep, the gear linkage its the main problem of course, but somehow half of the car in engine oil its ok
Forgive me for asking as im not mechanically minded but how can a gear linkage cause smoke from the rear of the car?
That's the thing it doesn't. The engine block had a hole in and had to put in another engine off camera.
Grrr, la mythique 205 GTI, voiture Française, n'est même pas traduit en Français, un comble.
Jamais vu sur RMC découverte malgré les multiples rediffusions des mêmes épisodes !

Job done? Just forgot the clip holding the selector on the ball joint on the sub frame and you never put grease on them as it makes them pop off they come with as much lubricant as they need already..
the gear linkage just broke on my 1.1 205 I lost all gears except second and third, not good.
I wonder what condition this car is in now? Its been off the road since 2012!
Probably got scrapped.

He was smoking the clutch because he could only get 3rd and 4th gear. So pulling out of the road in 3rd with loads of revs is not kind on the clutch.
