Honestly, "Father Of All Motherfuckers" left a bad taste in my mouth that concerned me for the future of Green Day but after we got "Holy Toledo" I was like ok ok this is what I expected "Father Of All Motherfuckers" to be. Then we started to get the teasers from the band which made me really hyped up for the next record "Saviors" my God the first time I heard the full album it blew me away! I'm so glad they delivered with an amazing album!

Same, honestly. I was really concerned. I would have never expected Green Day to release something so bad. To add an insult to an injury, there was all that cringeworthy boomer marketing for FOAM. For the first time in my life I though they lost their touch. „Ok, that’s it for Green Day, I guess, I wish they released song and performed the way they used to, but I guess they’re soon to be 50 and just unable to create good, relevant Green Day-esque music any more”. I’m so goddamn grateful they proved me wrong.

Prolly because the number 4 is their lucky number. Dookie was released in 1994, which became a success. American Idiot was released in 2004, which also became a success. And Saviors is released this 2024, which saved their reputation, which theoretically makes it a success. Just a little theory that came from my imagination! 😊

Response to the 22:00 comment about the pedophiles for the American dream line… The song has to be taken under the construct of being sung by the leaders/politicians! Many of which are being found out/called out for being literal pedos. Take these lines “don’t want no huddled masses, TikTok and taxes” are things that American politics aren’t doing right or fucking up horribly. I don’t think Green Day are calling themselves pedophiles. I think that line is very fitting for the song. Just my opinion. I am not Green Day nor am I a mind reader. Just a fan since 8th grade. I’m 37 now.

Tbh i fell off around the trilogy, but Saviors brought me back to full fandom again and been going through the albums i missed, and Father of All MFrs i actually kinda liked, couple songs i hate but mostly i kinda dug it, i like 60s music alot and some of the songs reminded me of those, but to each their own, great video!

As someone without much music knowledge, your passion for Green Day entertains me more than words can say. I chuckled a few times throughout the video because the way you express your thoughts so cheerfully and humorously by virtue of your love for Green Day is really fun to listen to. You truly have a lot of admiration for them and I really like hearing you go into nerd mode about Green Day! Those brief samples of their songs throughout the video stuck out to me. Dilemma, Father To A Son and Susie Chapstick all sound very pretty. Those were the standouts to me.
I would love to see you cover more Green Day content in the future, and other bands you like, too! Really, I just like getting to hear you talk about your passions, no matter what they are.

    INSOMNIAC:
    1. Walking Contradiction (One of the best Green Day songs IMO)

    3. One for the Razorbacks
    4. One of My Lies
    1,039/SMOOTHED OUT SLAPPY HOURS:

    1. Why Do You Want Him? (Underrated banger)
    2. Going to the Pasalacqua
    3. Disappearing Boy
Anyways sorry for the long comment lmao. Green Day has helped me tremendously and I love that the fanbase is mixed ages from around the world, showing that anyone no matter what age, race, sexuality or gender can listen to them. I honestly hope they make another album after Saviours and they see that they still have the capability to accomplish success with their music. I think Green Day has also helped me branch out into more rock/punk music which is always fun to listen to. My brother was the person who introduced me to Green Day but now he's a huge Metalica fan which is pretty funny. I'd say it's now been a year I've listened to Green Day and I'm so happy I got into listening to them.

Really great video. I’ve been listening to this album on repeat and it’s easily my favorite Green Day album of all time. I stated earlier in a comment that I’ve been a fan since the 8th grade, which was in 2000. I found the insomniac album in my stepbrothers room after he moved out, and then begged my mom for the rest. She bought me dookie, and later on, kerplunk, 1039 smooth, nimrod, and shenanigans (I’m almost done with your video and I don’t think you mentioned any shenanigans songs at all. Sure, it’s not the greatest album of all time, but it had some good songs worth a mention 😢). The , I got really religious and made a promise to God to stop listening to GD, along with other bands/artist I thought were demonic due to brainwashing. It was the worst thing ever, crying as I had to change the radio station every time one of my old faves came on, or having to skip the credits of movies. But hey! I’ve recently became an atheist, so that bullshit is ended. I’ve returned and have been drowning myself in things I’ve missed. The trilogy didn’t impress me much, but 21st century and now Saviors has become my life. I really missed GD these past years and they’ve had my heart all along, and will continue to have it. I’m so glad I pulled the wool off my eyes and made it back home, where I belong. Yes I’m sappy.

The American Dream is killing me has really grown on me, not because i think it's a particularly amazing song (although it's far from a bad song) but it was the opener at the show i recently went to and since then, the opening riff gives me goosebumps everytime. It just reminds me of that feeling that's like "holy shit i am seeing my favorite band live. I will never get any happier than this."

[BRO. OK. I just finished this video and coming from a MASSIVE Green Day fan who fully got into their work around the same time (2020), THIS SUMS UP MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS ALBUM AND MORE.]
[Same with you I also LOVE 'Saviors', it's definitely a favourite of mine and it also has one of my favourite songs by them in recent times, that being 'Dilemma' (I lost my mind hearing it live when I saw them last month believe me LOL). Personally the best way I can describe this album was and always will be "If Green Day wrote and produced 'American Idiot' in this day and age, it would be 'Saviors' " and I mean it in the BEST WAY. I found myself going "hey that reminds me of [insert song from 'American Idiot']" a good few times. Especially with the mentions of real world events and such also had me thinking that way. Not saying 'Saviors' isn't unique to 'American Idiot', what I'm saying is that this album had many elements of what makes me love 'American Idiot' so much. (For context, 'American Idiot' was also my first album by the band I listened to in full so hearing similarities or things that reminded me of it had me feeling nostalgic to the first time I listened to it.) But seriously this video was a BLAST to watch and I found myself audibly agreeing on points you made about their work. (I nearly lost my mind when you mentioned 'Scattered' when the topic of talking about other Green Day songs came up because OH MY DAYS I LOVE 'SCATTERED' SO MUCH, 'SCATTERED' MY BELOVED.) So I'm definitely seated for more Green Day related videos if you ever plan on making them cuz MAN I love hearing other's opinions and such about a band that has had me in a chokehold for 4 years now LOL]

Living in the 20s is so good, definitely my favorite from the record.
Look Ma, One Eyed Bastard, Bobby Sox, Fancy Sauce, all good.
I enjoy how much the bass is present, too. Love me the Dirnt boy.
Father to a Son drags things down imo, but the album is super consistent sounding which I appreciate.
I think “Oh Yeah!” is such a catchy ass song but the production drags it down. If they rerecorded it with less bells and whistles and more of a live sound I bet it would be good phenomenal
This tour sounds like the perfect GD concert, playing all of American Idiot, Dookie…I mean holy shit. I just feel so bad for his vocal cords!

    My top 5:
    1. Dilemma
    2. Strange Days
    3. Goodnight Adeline (on my first listen of this album this song stood out to me immediately! The tone of the lyrics are so sweet and melodramatic, and so Billie in the best way.)

Have always been a casual listener of Green Day, my son got into them recently in a big way. Saw them in Manchester 2 weeks ago and now....well I'm sold. Love this album, gradually educating myself with all the stuff that I hadn't heard or hadn't really listened to beyond it just being on in the background.

I can't really think of a top five because this album is just good all the way through. But I will say my number one is "Suzie Chapstick". When the album was announced and singles were being pumped out I was skeptical because of FOAM (I bought FOAM day one and haven't touched it since) but I liked some of the singles and figured I would give it a chance, then they announced those "Early Listen Parties" at some record shops and one of my local record shops was having one, so I went to that with my brothers wife who is a massive Green Day fan. Just about every song during the listen began to blend in with each other and while I did like them, none of them caught my ear more than "Suzie Chapstick" did. I'm a sucker for harmony (My all time favorite group is The Beach Boys) and that song just hit a spot I don't think green day had ever hit. I literally went crazy for the next few days trying to find the song I had heard until the album eventually released and I re-listened to it that night. While I'm bummed I won't be able to hear it live due to the setlist being played for the saviors tour (Still grateful for it, it's a fantastic set!) It still will be there in my top Green Day songs the next time I see them, so hopefully it gets some love next tour!

Thanks! The audio excerpts are actually from when Green Day held a radio station on Sirius XM between December and January a few months ago. In between songs, it would feature Billie, Mike or Tre talking about a certain song or album for bit. I recorded a lot of them myself in an effort to archive as much from the radio station as I could since I knew it wouldn't be on the air forever.

I do consider Billie, Mike and Tre (and Jason White too) as my friends. I've partied with them at their homes, i played drums for Mike's side project and i think they're great people, but politics, if im being honest, are not their forte in my opinion. They're political views make me cringe, but they are allowed to speak their minds and I'm thrilled for their success and grateful to have been welcomed into their homes and given an opening slot on the dookie tour!

19:45 Saviors is GD's best album since American Idiot
19:57 Saviors is ranked no. 4 after 21st Century Breakdown (released in 2009, after American Idiot)
Kind of seems like a contradiction to me
Saviors is a great album. I probably wouldn't have it on my top 5 albums but it's close I think. One Eyed Bastard is probably my least favourite track personally because I think it just doesn't really have anything original to offer since the guitar riff is just Pink's So What and the lyrics/meaning is just a worse, less interesting Peacemaker. My favourites are Coma City, Living in the 20s & 1981 personally

This was hard to listen to just as hard as Saviors was to listen to....
I appreicate the review because i wanted something like this after listening to it, i cant get behind it. Bobby Sox is the worst song on the album, Nothing against what it stands for or what it's about its just not it for me. Sorry not sorry but 21st will always be theyre worst album for me...
Ive been a fan since 98 and Dookie was my first and only cd for a long time i cant but help to put that at number 1.
    1. Dookie
    2. Nimrod
    3. Kerplunk
    4. Warning
    5. American Idiot
E tier 21st century breakdown and Saviors
Im not an obnoxious fan and think theyre old stuff is only good because i think one of theyre best songs ever written and played is Jesus of Suburbia but theyre new stuff is like antiflag and blink 182 had a child. @coopercastille obviously man but it's not what my original point was trying to get across but i guess it broke my heart when you said 21st is a good album haha... as a fellow green day fan you deserve the best of them and I hope that will make sense to you because if Dookie is your favourite album you'd realise exactly my point... look I don't completely hate saviours as I like corvette summer and 1981 but even then the Harmonics in Billie's voice doesn't have the flavour of yesteryears
As a musician myself the change in they're sound is what really the downside. It doesn't have to be immature lyrics just yeah the sound it's just lacks the energy I grew to love. Just imagine Bobby sox now played in the dookie era? How would it sound to you

    • @coopercastille
      @coopercastille  4 месяца назад +1

It's weird how gatekeepy you're being about a punk band, if I "broke your heart" over simply having a different opinion on a Green Day album, that's on you tbh. 21st Century Breakdown is a great album and I think it IS the best of them, you're free to disagree with that. I think "Bobby Sox" would've kicked ass on Dookie, it could've fit right next to "Coming Clean" just fine, two great bisexual anthems on the same record.
