She's got a new CD coming out in October that will be LIVE, and if you are familiar with - and possibly already own a copy of her late father's record, Donny Hathaway LIVE - her newest would be a great addition/companion to sit right next to her dad's CD!
Lalah is a real entertainer and powerful vocalist. She is seen here giving her all and humorously (& shamelessly!) promoting her iTunes songs that are available NOW, as well as reminding the audience of her upcoming album.
The tunes available NOW are Ghetto Boy (the first song she does here), and a cover of Anita Baker's, Angel.
Beautiful personality and smooth chops, I'm a fan who just wanted to share the love as I have been following her on the new app, Periscope and enjoying her realness with people.

Camera moves: I perched myself on a tiny slope to be seated in the shade because it was a million degrees in the sun! As a result of my scooting my tiny lawn chair into a good position, I must've disturbed an ant colony because I was being bitten by ants the entire time I shot this, so the camera has some jerks and wiggling going on! sorry!
Opinion piece here: The Oakland Jazz Festival is NOT - I REPEAT - NOT - a 'Jazz Festival'. It is a soul, blues, & a bit-o-funk festival with the slightest inklings of smooth jazz inserted by a couple of artists.
Great music - but I wish they would advertise it as The Oakland R&B Fest and let it be more honestly represented as it truly is.
For real jazz in the area, there are no festivals, but several venues to catch good jazz of a variety of types. In Oakland on weekends:
The Sound Room on Broadway (great small plates, a non profit w/ an intimate room - holds about 100 max) and Piedmont Piano Co. on San Pablo Ave. (no food, intimate, holds 100).
Yoshi's in Jack London Square offers up some good jazz, but also showcases a wider variety in genres to keep their doors open. And they have concerts just about every night of the week.

Just seeing this from a cold and stormy UK in the winter. Lalah has such a wonderful voice and she is one of my favourite female soul singers and this just makes you think of hot sunny days and sweet soul music. A wicked combination.
