This is a possible origin story for the God of Chaos, Discord. Hope you enjoy!

Oh man, this is too creepy! I'd never pictured Discord as a Frankenstein's monster parallel but this is such a creepy headcanon. I like the idea of a creepy backstory for Starswirl the Bearded.

It's actually sad how most people think it's just a kids show buts there's so much more than that and this backstory of discord and the curse of twilight's immortality is true evidence
Makes you wonder if Starswirl also made the changlings, maybe Chrysalis is the daughter if Starswirl. Maybe Discord created the changlings cause of his own loneliness.
The shows amazing but without the fandom it would be no where around where it is. Between the background characters people have attached personaity to and the headcanons as well as the show actually paying attention to it's fandom. This show knew when to follow the Fandom and when it would make things worse (look at Vynl, you cant compete with nowaking) this show and it's fandom made it from a kids show to truly something legendary
@@middknightdream1577 Funny you should say that because in the comics the origin of the Changelings is from a mosquito biting Starswirl while he was exploring in the Everfree Forest and then falling into a cursed bog. Starswirl's blood mixed with the mosquito and magic inside the bog, mutating the insect into the first batch of Changelings.
So true. I'm 33 years old as of December 25th and I have always gotten grief for loving the show the movie and the fan made stuff. It isn't just for kids. In fact it was meant for teens

I've seen concepts showing discord as starswirl corrupted, being corrupted by celestia rejecting his love, even fics of him being the youngest in a family of Draconequi, who were the gods of chaos who work opposite the alicorns, who were the gods of order, but this is quite an interesting take on Discord
I am going to mix Celestia rejecting him and him being starswilrs flawed master piece.
You know, Discord's origin and character development as Starswirl's Monster should've been in Return of Harmony, which fits well for the theme of friendship.

I've seen works depicting Starswirl transforming into discord, a young discord corrupting his own heart after Celestia turns his love away, and now Discord being a magical creation of Starswirl! I honestly have no idea which one would be the most interesting, but it definitely suggests that an episode of Discord's origins would be very intriguing.
Honestly, I'm glad there's no such episode as of yet, and hope there never will be, if simply because it would ruin so many obsessive headcanons. Of course I'm thinking of my own(xD), where Discord is the weakest being of Chaos and so survives the event that killed all the others, but the idea of Discord being Starswirl (or the theory depicted so beautifully in this song) is actually quite clever and makes a lot of sense.
WingsOnTheBus I understand your reasoning against such an episode, and with how Hasbro has done a lot of other parts of MLP (mainly the lack of character to some of the later villains) I think it just might be best to leave Discord's past alone, unless they can come up with a fairly creative beginning, such as maybe Discord forming because of a vast imbalance between chaos and harmony because of Luna and Celestia.

I hadn't actually heard of this theory before this song. Now I'm not sure which one I prefer, Starswirl casting a bad or backfired spell that turned him into the creature of chaos, or fashioning him. Either one is extremely intriguing in their own right, and would utterly ruin the pony's image in the series. I love it. Along with the hauntingly chilling song. :)

The song is the only one of those that is still possible, because as of the season 7 finale, Starswirl and Discord exist in the same universe.
This song has a sort of haunting tone to it, the Echo and Humming.
This song is beyond stupendous, it is superfluous in both sorrow and enigma. The voice is both somber and makes you feel it is all knowing, yet there is still the vibe of mystery that he (Discord) could not even make up, if he would be appreciated by his father from what he is now.

@@Doc903 Unfortunately, they have on at least two separate instances stated that he's way too old for this to be possible. In To Where and Back Again, he said he "hasn't walked this far in eons", and an eon is one billion years. There was an issue in the IDW comics where discord took fluttershy and the CMCs time traveling to the distant past. Several historical ponies recognized him, confirming he was around millions of years ago. To be perfectly honest, he's most likely simply some kind of a god that's been around since the big bang.
This is gorgeous! I love the instrumental here and the headcanon introduced in it is amazing. This is something I could definitely see and it would explain so much (from the mismatched body parts to Discord's high usage of magic). I heard arguments that Discord and Starswirl are one and the same but for me this seems sooo much more believable. Oh and your voice is just marvelous! Good job! :D

Though my headcanon that Discord is Starswirl after the MMC spell gone wrong because he tried it using other animals instead of ponies. I have this theory that he wanted to use the best of each creature in order to become perfect like an alicorn, but used the spell in the wrong way and became an almighty creature of chaos. Then back to Twilight, she cast the spell right next to the Elements of Harmony, which filtered the magic and changed everypony's talents instead of mixing them up in a crazy pony monster.
The spell had nothing to do with Twilight transformation, but it was a change that came from inside her. Keep in mind Cadence was a pegasus before becoming an alicorn and it had nothing to do with magic... ok I partly take that back, she did have to face a witch atracking her villiage. Defeating her with the power of love Cadanceand but her transformation does not involve spell being cast.

No, that's not what I mean. Starswirl wanted to create alicorn magic, not become one. Alicorns have all three types of pony magic (earth, unicorn and pegasus), but since he couldn't use actual ponies to test his spell on, he did it on himself and his "lab rats" (just remember we didn't use to have animal rights in the past, and I assume it was the same in Equestria). Twilight, on the other hand, didn't cast it on anything in particular, which is why the magic was absorbed by the Elements and had a less tragic effect.
(That, of course, is *my* headcanon, don't take it too seriously. :P)

the only way that this song could be made even 0.1 better, it's already about 23,000.99 % pure awesomeness, is if somepony made an animated vid. for it. in which Discord is singing in it in front of the star-swirl the bearded statue. also, complete with flashbacks of star-swirl using magic to create him and then try to bring him to laugh or flashbacks of star-swirl casting the spell from "magical mystery cure" and becoming discord. it would be AMAZING!!! I think.......

Man I'd love to see this as true. One good thing about this all is that even though no more episodes are made there's nothing left to counter theories (besides already existing facts). Glad I was right about starswirl being not being discord and now I can contiue to think this is true and as far as my knowledge goes theres nothing saying it can't be
I honestly love this. Starswirl is quite a bit like Victor to me.
But another thing, I actually like how it's not specified that Discord is Frankenstein's monster - even though everyone and their schizophrenic uncle can tell that's what's meant - in a literal sense it creates the feeling that which one is monster is unclear, even though it's stated to be Discord.
Knowledge is knowing Frankenstein isn't the monster.
Wisdom is knowing Frankenstein *is* the monster.
I hope people see this music as a true peace of good work i can hear the amount of work put into it and it is beautiful. There should be more music in this fandom like this

I just now realized Discord's a lung dragon (Chinese) which are renowned for their wisdom, can use "magic", and are supposed to be a great omen (good kind) if anyone see's them. How could this be possible? o-o
He does share many of the same characteristics doesn't he. Two horns, a beard, a long serpentine body. But in the canon he is a Draconequus, which means "dragon horse".
Plus his chaotic self is shown by the multitude of different animal parts that he possesses.

He's supposed to have the head of a pony, but he does not look like one. :l
Draconequus are rare creatures in Ancient Greek mythology. And Lung can have Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Mongolian incarnations, all of them individual to the culture they originate from. And of those, none of them feature fire of any kind.
