Penn State fan here. I go all the way back to when we played WVU every year, and I’m really happy to see us renew that. I thought the Mountaineers played really well on both O and D. Your QB is a scrambling nightmare, your RB is a horse, you’ve got a great O line. Your D played extremely well and is well-coached. If you all play like that this year, you’re gonna win a lot more than you lose. Yes, PSU is better this year, but your boys sure didn’t play like they thought so. Good luck the rest of the way!

  • @wvufan4ever

We had no chance of winning the game due to Brown’s play calling and Jordan Leslie’s secondary playing 10 yds off their receivers. I’d rather get beat being aggressive Than to never give our kids a chance. I’m under no illusion that we were ever going to win but I’m getting tired of the coaching staff getting in their own way. 4th and 3 and we run a stupid trick play? Where was CJ on that? He should’ve been given the ball. He was a stud and we quit using him.

If I saw the corner 8 yards off the line and backpeddling at the snap on every play, I'm sure their QB saw it. So when it's 3rd and 4,,,,,you think they aren't going to throw that quick out?

They just couldn’t capitalize on the second half it’s a game of inches and they just got beat. 90% of the game is between the ears and they just got outplayed in the second half that’s where that 10% was the difference

In all of our disappointment with the last 4 seasons Neal Brown may not be the answer to moving our program in the direction it needs to go in the ever-changing landscape of college football. However, to say that the team does not have passion or play hard is wrong. to say he is “clueless” is wrong. You don’t get to be a D1 college head coach without earning it. Something none of us have ever earned.
To step back and take a logical look at what our problem really is, it is his and his staffs failure to build a deeper more athletic roster. As the old but true saying saysX’s and O’s will never beat Jimmie and Joes. That is our most pressing issue. Is it the recruiting approach, lack of financial resources or inability to recruit on a level that allows us to build a roster that is competitive in D1 Football? This becomes more evident week in, week out especially when injuries mount and depth becomes more of an issue.

James Franklin's calls at the end of the game had nothing to do with West Virginia and everything to do with his own players. Those were backups in the game on that final offensive possession. 2s, 3s, maybe even some 4s. Would you put players on the field and tell them to half ass it to spare your opponents feelings? The game time reps those kids got are valuable for their development, they give coaches something on tape to coach them up for future situations, and they help prepare the players for a situation if they should have to step up due to an injury or something else. Would you feel better if JF told Beau not to score? That's way more arrogant.....to tell your backups that you know the defense can't stop them on their own so take it easy on them.

Franklin has addressed this several times in the past. He doesn't take a knee unless it's a tight game. Otherwise, he will give is young guys and back ups game reps. Most importantly, he will never tell any of his players not to score. He may run a more conservative offense....which he did. And he may tell them not to go out of bounds. But he will always allow and encourage them the execute to the best of their ability, because they work hard all week to prepare too.
Also, the WV coach was clearly still trying to play. We had our back ups in after we took a 31-7 lead and he still marched his first team offense out there to march down field and score...then pulled out some circus 2pt conv...then kicked an onside kick. He could allowed the clock to run out when we had our 2nd team offense out there at the end...but instead he used his time outs. The dude was clearly playing to the end, so we did too. Then he has the audacity to come on here and say "what goes around comes around"...what a jerk off 😂😅

Remember WVU' fan's. When you smell smoke (up your ass) a true wvu sport fan knows to run cause the damage already has been done. I'm 54 born raised in the sw coal country of West by god. I've seen, heard and witness same ole ridic from coaches to presidents since I was a knee high to a grass hopper. So i think my text qualifies me in writing my thoughts about WVU as a university, not on one game but their whole ethnicity when it comes to human beings first and foremost. Life amazes me. Wanna know why? If you take a step back while looking through the eyes of God on us. You will see how humans uses other humans to get where they they (think) they need to get in life, no madder the cost. Can I get a witness/amen??? With that being said, WVU has has a history on making coaches millionaires over the course of my lifetime thus far. Except for one and that one is none other than coach nehlen. WVU made NB and other coaches in WVU's history millionaire's, why continue this toxic relationship any further/ever, year after disappointing years Mr WVU President, AD, on down... its high time, past time in letting (leeches) NB and friends GO! If not, then this is how we will see "Pale-Faces" from now on. #CherokeeTribe😮

Maybe you should fire more coaches that are hard on the kids.. that seemed to work.. who needs fans... I'm not saying it's just WVU .. but it was the only team I used to watch.. I'll still watch them I just don't care if I do or don't.. I'm so sick of society knocking down masculinity.. Neil has always been a temporary coach.. the only way he can stay here is to be subpar.. if he gets a bunch of wins he's leaving if he gets a bunch of losses he's leaving... I think I'd rather just watch the clouds roll by and cut my grass..

I know times have been tough but it’s not like Neal has had a ton to work with. Play calling was absolutely what lost the game and you can hang that hat on him. I think Neal is a great coach and we need to ride this out. We went in after being 5-7 and played a fairly competitive game. We need to give and opportunity for the duration of his contract before we start calling for his head

Couldn't disagree more. Please stop advocating for mediocrity. He couldn't even cover the spread tonight, which btw had gone up 2.5 pts in the last month. He's in his 5th season. This is completely his team. He calls the plays. This is absolutely below WVU football standards. He's 22-26 as head coach w losing conference record. Please

Just stop lmao. We are year 5 into this absolute joke of a coaching staff. For someone from the air raid offense we have been a terrible offense for FIVE YEARS. It’s time to go, we looked like the same team we were last year. Wide open WR’s deep, no passing game, poor pass protection, etc. if CJ can’t average 200 yards a game it’s gonna be an impossibly long season

😂😂😂😂😂 what a joke of a comment. It’s on him to bring in talent and keep them. He’s had a good recruits and they’ve all left. He’s just not the guy for the job and WVUs financial situation is not good. They’re keeping him because they financially have to . I don’t know what you’ve seen to think he’s a great coach but remind me not to get your opinion on the politicians in this country. You have to win in this world to gain respect but instead Neal has just gained multi millionaire status while the rest of us worry about buying gas. I’ll save my sympathy for someone who didn’t hit the lottery of coaching jobs. Come in, suck, make bank. “Ain’t that America?”

I really like Neal but the play calling wasn’t great… no identity to the offense and a little bit of trying to be too fancy. Felt like there was a panic in the 3rd and was trying to play catch up a little too soon. Feed CJ and soften up the defense

Brown again proves that he is not a capable head coach in big time football we did not look prepared nor did we play like it he’s way too conservative makes decisions that you wouldn’t make in a scrimmage against yourself let alone in a big time game on prime time Saturday night and I wish he would have played Nicco in the second half Garrett looked antsy and a little jumpy ready to run as soon as he got the ball and why the hell do we never take a chance deep down field we are so friggin predictable and flat it’s not that the talent isn’t available on the field it’s the lack of coaching talent period point blank five years of this is just hard to believe Neal Brown just doesn’t have it if this if that we need to do this we need to know improve on that we need to move on from him god I love my mountaineers but man I hate his post game shows
