- This is dual function Tricorder in that it has both Science and Medical settings and LEDs. Take notice, the scanning bar that sequences from the centre out changes from red to blue depending on the mode, either Science or Medical. The ID light also changes. There are over 30 screen changes along with several audio tracks featuring Majel Roddenberry's voice as well as that of Nana Visitor.

Work of ART!...better than any prop probably used on any of the series. You could probably fool someone who's never seen ST into thinking it's a real gadget/device, nice work.
Wow, I'd buy one of these, it is the most sophisticated tricorder manufactured. it would be a privilege to own one. If you're taking orders, I'd love to place one. I'd imagine these to be a great investment. I guess your still testing for bugs.

Is this a mock up techno version on sale for Trekkies or one of the working props used in the series? Maybe in about five or ten years it will become a reality. An actual device will probably be more compact and possibly be similar to a wrist watch. A wrist-tricorder-palm device.

I'm modding one myself..- Have the mini Eclipse Mp4 player preloaded with tricorder moving graphics. Playmates tricorder is already apart with screen fitted, using stock lights and sound. How did you get screen to display the moving graphics without having to select it on the mp4 player's menu? Thanks.
Because it is NOT an MP3/MP4 player but a board I designed running my firmware.

I have parts to make one. After that, it may be a long while again as the shell is a Roddenberry shell made by HMS, the same prop house that made Star Trek props for 18 years. These shells have since been sold out and are no longer available. Occasionally I come across one, as is the case with the last one I have.
I can understand that. All said, you do a brilliant job and are deserving of the praise! :)

LutzDerLurch It certainly would as its the correct shell. The entire body would have to be stripped down and the door replaced. This means new paint & graphics.

How did you paint or get the buttons? I am working on a replica of the Science Tricorder and plan to 3D print the case and then put in a LCD screen for fuction, along with buttons and all. But the one problem I have is I am not very good at fine touch painting. So how or where did you get the stickers/or how did you paint the numbers/text?

Actually all of the parameters I listed can be monitored by anyone.
Anyone can build a polygraph, monitoring blood sugar with an earlobe clip-on wireless sensor is already here.
The software can run on an arduino now.
But this is not in the form factor of a movie set device.
The modules in question are already FCC and IC approved.
Just call it a Tricorder and be done with it.
The fact that it actually works, think of it as the ultimate tribute to Star Trek!

Please, please where did you find your sounds? I've found a bunch at TrekCore.com. I'm looking for the sound your tricorder makes around 1:54-1:57. I cannot find that sound without background noise/music anywhere. I'm trying to find it for my Android. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Awesome work, btw. :-D

Now, how about an actual medical device?
Blood sugar monitoring is easy.
Remote cardiac monitor and display? EZ.
Respiration, skin and voice inflection (PSE) are all doable.
Now make that work in a Star Trek like box.
This would be far less intrusive than a "true" medical device, the Star Trek angle would remove some of the fear factor, excellent for children of all ages!
