If your viewers are hearing themselves through the screen share!!! Discord is being sent to "Speaker 1" so it will also come through the OBS if you add Speaker 1 to OBS as a sound source. So you want to get the game audio from a different source input. Basically the Discord OUTPUT card cannot be sent to OBS in anyway with monitoring... Disable the desktop audio or turn OFF monitoring. Yes but with some limitations. You can only fullscreen a single stream on discord at a time. But you can show multiple streams at the same time no problem. This is how we run the IQ podcast. We all screenshare our camera in OBS using this video's method, then I capture the discord video sharing of all our cameras to broadcast and record the podcast. You can popout the screenshare and fullscreen it. Then you can capture this window in discord.
Actually it didn't work for me, at 0:48 I did select "Monitor and Output" for desktop audio, but for some reason the behavior stayed the same. When some audio plays I can see the volume bar moving up so at first sight it looks fine, however when people watch my discord stream they can't hear any audio, it doesn't matter if I'm streaming the OBS window itself or a projector.
Ok, I just fixed my problem. Looks like my OBS default audio option was behaving badly and getting some stupid thing as audio source, I fixed it by going to Settings > Audio > Advanced > Monitoring Device, then I selected an option that correctly associated to my headset and it's all good now lol
The audio output and monitoring in OBS can be a bit finicky. Changing the default card output before you enable monitoring can force it to work. Monitoring sometimes doesn't enable without changing the card like you did, and then immediately changing the monitoring options. I have a question. I’m trying to learn how to stream both of my cameras at the same time on discord most time when I join in on someone else’s stream, it only shows one camera. What do I do?

Your trick worked super well in Windows 10, I have been using it for 3 weeks to my friends, but I upgraded to Windows 11 and the image freezes if it is not on the main monitor or in front
Wow! Thank you for reporting this issue. I am very hesitant to recommend "upgrading" to windows 11. To me right now it's more of a "side-grade" and with bugs like this it would be a major "down-grade" for me to switch. I use this trick every night to stream stuff in discord with my friends.
This might be a graphics card driver issue. First check and make sure your gpu driver is up to date. If that doesn't work, try disabling hardware acceleration in discord. Let me know if that helps
I wanna live stream a game through OBS to RUclips, but I also wanna screen share the game with my buddy through OBS so we can play together in real time
This works! But is there a way to make the stream actuall full screen? cause my friends said it has a border, tho it is in full screen plus my obs and drivers are updated
Are you using the full screen protector option or the window projector? If you're seeing borders in discord this can be a weird bug where you need to restart discord and obs for the window to be captured properly.
there's a few things that can make this happen.. Check these first 1. Try enable/disable hardware acceleration in Discord. 2. Try restarting running both OBS and discord as Admin. Take care when selecting the fullscreen projector. Discord might show multiple windows in the "application" sharing window. Look for the one that says Fullscreen Projector and has the correct image.
This depends on your equipment and computer. This method should be primarily used for sharing and streaming, in which case there won't be a delay to the viewers, but I would use it to play as there will be input lag, a type of delay, though everything will be in sync if you set it up properly. You should continue to play the way you normally would, and just use this to stream, and that will not be out of sync.
Are you using Windows 10 or 11? I haven't tested this with Windows 11 yet. Make sure your discord is set to the new audio capture format in voice and video settings.
Try using any other output for monitoring in OBS. Then retoggle the monitoring off and back on for that OBS source. Restart OBS and make sure monitoring is working listening for it on the device if possible, start the stream to discord after you confirm that the audio is being played through the output device. Happy holidays. This trick works but sometimes you just have to toggle things around / on and off to get it working. Restarting the computer also helps.
Choose the correct monitoring device in settings. set the source monitoring in advanced audio properties to monitor and output. It will work if you get the settings correct.
The monitor has to be able to receive an audio signal for this process to work. Which means Windows has to see it as an optional sound card. Usually this means the monitor has some sort of audio output, 9x out of 10 this will be a headphone jack, but sometimes it can also be speakers. So the answer is "no" it doesn't need to specifically have speakers, but it does need to accept some sort of audio signal. If you can send audio to a monitor through the windows setting, this trick will work.
When this happens OBS and Discord are confused about the 2 programs. Restart OBS and hit CNTL R in discord to restart it. It should application share the FullScreen Preview properly after you restart both programs.
I'm still having some trouble getting the audio to come through, I'm Following the guide lines and while the visual can be seen of the game I can't get any audio going to it. I would have people say they can see and not hear but I can't figure out why.
Are you on windows 10? So you have hardware encoding turned on in discord? Do you have the audio source set to monitor ? Try toggling monitor off then back on in the advanced audio settings.
@@infinitequality I am on Windows 10, I'm not entirely sure about the hardware encoding part. If thats the case what would I need to do for it? I did do the toggling and it wasn't working. Would there be a difference between Discord the app and discord on a tab?
If you follow this video exactly you can share anything from obs to discord. Including RUclips, camera, alerts, gameplay. Anything you can add to OBS will work if you follow the steps in the video.
Gotta ask, does this work with Stream Labs OBS as well? For obvious reasons a lot of the settings over lap and I pretty much did the same thing, but I couldn't get it too work and I just wanna know if there some weird disconnect between discord and specifically stream labs.
@@infinitequality Thank you so much for this reply! After setting it up on Streamlabs OBS I got so frustrated that I needed to check the comments to see if anyone else asked. After downloading plain OBS I got it working so fast! Thank you so much
I'm still able to use this method. I've used it every night for years now. I watch shows from my Xbox series x through this trick and share it on discord. What exactly isn't working? You need to be more specific. Because the screenshare works fine, the audio works fine, everything works for us, so what part isn't not working?
Hmm. Well when I use my capture card I get no audio delay, but I guess this could depend a lot on your card and PC. You don't need to listen to the audio from the capture card exclusively, you can just monitor the audio to a soundcard that you can't hear, like the digital optical out. This will still broadcast the audio to discord and you can listen to the audio from your other options. For instance I use this truck to stream Netflix to discord though my capture card, but watch on my TV and sound system as normal.
@@infinitequality i have a pretty decent pc so if you mean spec wise i dont think that should be an issue, also i do have a way to connect a cable to the wireless adapater for my headset to the switch directly which allows me to have no audio latency but when I do that obs doesnt pick up any audio
I can help you with this but I think I would need to see your setup through a screenshare and talk you through it. You can join my personal discord here: discord.thesunnymachine.com/ and we can try to find time. I don't think it would take more than 15 mins.
This is a behavior of Discord when the window you are sharing get's minimized. The best way to fix this is to send the OBS preview to a second monitor or a "fake monitor". Do not hit Wnkey+D and minimize everything as discord will pause the stream. If you keep the OBS preview up on another monitor this won't happen.
@@infinitequality so does this also happen when another window is on top of the preview window. i have tried many thing. and it always pauses the stream even when i am on the "preview" window unminimised. it only shares my screen when the discord screen is active anything else and it pauses. even when i dont minimise the preview window.
@@abhijeetas7886 This is not normal behavior. A few things to try and let me know about.. What version of windows are you on 10 or 11? Is your GPU driver up to date? Are you running OBS as Admin, or Discord as Admin? Things to try... Run OBS NOT as admin and Discord NOT as admin, Try running BOTH as ADMIN if that doesn't work. Turn off Hardware Acceleration in Discord Settings > Advanced. Let me know!

This could be a lot of things... I would try disabling hardware encoding in Discord first. See if that helps... also using Discord Nitro is the only way to do 1080p 60 in most servers. If you are using "source" without nitro the FPS will be like 15.
haha, I'd been messing around with this for an hour and a half before I realized I was using Streamlabs, not OBS Studio... This definitely works with OBS Studio, but NOT Streamlabs.
Hi. This looks good. 1 question. How good is the audio quality for the discord viewers? My experiences last years what ever I tried to make this work the audio was very bad.. Crackling and you would think the audio was from the microphone instead of virtual cable.
Just a heads up, I have a very cheap capture card (it's a chinese knock off of a mirabox) and while the captured video quality is acceptable, the audio is really low quality at best, and when capturing/passthru at highest resolution it stutters a lot. I have worked around this by getting the audio from my display's AUX out (rather than the capture card) and plugging into the line-in on my PC. Then disable or mute all the audio in the capture card, but add the line-in as an audio input in OBS. In my case, I had to adjust for sync because the audio was a few millisecs ahead of the video when merged together in OBS.
@@sifnix024 there is nothing wrong with your settings, this guy pretends like this is a one solution for everyone and it does not work on all capture cards.
The projector isn't the aspect that provides the audio. It's the monitoring setup inside OBS, (not stream labs). You must have audio meters working in obs and the monitoring working as I describe in the video. The projector only provides the video feed.
For whatever reason sharing fullscreen preview doesn't work for me (there's no sound, and no fullscreen either), but streaming obs added "as a game" works almost perfectly. Sound is there ok, but the stream itself is not fullscreen as the viewer sees it, dunno. Anywasy THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!
This can be caused by a variety of settings or issues. Make sure gpu scheduling is turned on in Windows. Make sure you have discord and OBS set to 60fps. Discord nitro helps as well
Does this work if you stream from a console but use a capture card and do this to have your discord audio to play through the capture card? I’m broke for a pc rn but everyone I know uses a pc but I’m on console and I stream. Let me know!
I'm not 100% sure what you are asking here. This only works when using OBS on a computer. Anything you can feed into OBS will work in the discord screenshare, including audio with this method. This will not work when streaming from a console as it requires OBS and it's intended use is to stream content to Discord using a computer. I hope something I said was a response to your question. Feel free to restate the question if I didn't understand properly.
I actually use this every night and it still works just fine for me and my friends. Something in your setup must be different or you missed a setting in OBS... OR you need to restart OBS and Discord after getting everything setup correctly. If you carefully follow along with my instructions in this video, you are on windows 10, and you are using the Discord windows Application, it will work.
It does work for so many others though. So something in your setup is wrong. Make sure you are using the normal discord Windows app, that OBS is up to date, and that your graphics drivers are up to date.
What doesn't work? I use this method every night with friends... If you are having trouble getting screenshare to work with discord you may have to update graphics drivers, reset discord settings, or you didn't follow may have skipped an important step in my video.
If your viewers are hearing themselves through the screen share!!!

it says "start streaming" and i know ur making discord stream it inside discord, btu where are u sending OBS stream to when u hit that up? ;o
That will stream to any platform you connect OBS to in the settings.
okai tysm!!!!@@infinitequality
I'm using a laptop, I did as in the video but it still doesn't work, my stream still can't record sound
Still didn't work for me. I followed every single step and with Discord I still cannot hear anything
Choose the correct monitoring device in settings. set the source monitoring in advanced audio properties to monitor and output.
It will work if you get the settings correct.
Does your Monitor have to have speakers to have Audio in Discord or to be able to hear anything at all?
The monitor has to be able to receive an audio signal for this process to work. Which means Windows has to see it as an optional sound card. Usually this means the monitor has some sort of audio output, 9x out of 10 this will be a headphone jack, but sometimes it can also be speakers.
So the answer is "no" it doesn't need to specifically have speakers, but it does need to accept some sort of audio signal. If you can send audio to a monitor through the windows setting, this trick will work.
the video is frozen on the stream no matter what i do though, how do i fix that
Try running everything as admin.
There are grey bars on the side of my screen, any fixes?
When this happens OBS and Discord are confused about the 2 programs. Restart OBS and hit CNTL R in discord to restart it.
It should application share the FullScreen Preview properly after you restart both programs.
@@infinitequality it fixed, thanks man
thank u
Are you using the app or in browsers. I have only made this work using the app, and haven't tested the browser version
@@infinitequality App Version
Can you hear the audio on the selected monitoring device?
This helped so I can hear the game! Thank you! Now my problem is that the audio lags. Any suggestions to fix this?
Which audio specifically is lagging? If it's a constant lag, you can try the audio offset setting in OBS advanced audio settings.
Please can explain how can i do, ebcause my ,, vievers'' can hear them self on stream on discord. how can i fix it ?
The answer is in my pinned comment for this video. :)
I got a simple question but NOONE CAN ANSWER: How to share my gameplay on discord togethet with music playing on RUclips?
If you follow this video exactly you can share anything from obs to discord. Including RUclips, camera, alerts, gameplay. Anything you can add to OBS will work if you follow the steps in the video.
Gotta ask, does this work with Stream Labs OBS as well? For obvious reasons a lot of the settings over lap and I pretty much did the same thing, but I couldn't get it too work and I just wanna know if there some weird disconnect between discord and specifically stream labs.
As far as I know it does not.
@@infinitequality Thank you so much for this reply! After setting it up on Streamlabs OBS I got so frustrated that I needed to check the comments to see if anyone else asked. After downloading plain OBS I got it working so fast! Thank you so much
You are amazing
I did everything and it won't work, I had it working a while ago but now it stopped. None of my settings changed so is this something they updated?
I'm still able to use this method. I've used it every night for years now. I watch shows from my Xbox series x through this trick and share it on discord. What exactly isn't working?
You need to be more specific. Because the screenshare works fine, the audio works fine, everything works for us, so what part isn't not working?
@@infinitequality Well the sound doesn't come in through discord at all
If you join the IQ discord I can help you and we can double check your settings.
is there a way to mute discord call while streaming with obs to discord? everything works fine but the viewer can hear themselves from the stream
Please see the pinned comment!
is hearing a roughly 50ms delay to game audio normal? i would assume so given im hearing the audio through id assume obs but i just wanna check
I don't think it would take more than 15 mins.
whenever i start streaming the projector view and go to my desktop discord pauses my stream for some reason some way to fix it
This is a behavior of Discord when the window you are sharing get's minimized.
@@infinitequality
windows 10 laptop,
GPU drivers are up to date.
tried running OBS and discord both with and without admin,
disabled hardware acceleration and still same problem,
i tried sharing the
"capture window" opion in obs and "capture display" option both are not working, steam pauses as soon as i leave the discord window.
should i try reinstalling discord and OBS ?
can someone tell me why discord stream has lower fps than obs preview?
This could be a lot of things...
I would try disabling hardware encoding in Discord first. See if that helps... also using Discord Nitro is the only way to do 1080p 60 in most servers. If you are using "source" without nitro the FPS will be like 15.
@@infinitequality for some reason it just lags a lot for no reason
@@infinitequality I have nitro but it still lags for some reason, even the elgato 4k capture software lags
@@infinitequality but only lags on stream
What operating system are you on?
What are your PC specs?
Are you using OBS studio?
haha, I'd been messing around with this for an hour and a half before I realized I was using Streamlabs, not OBS Studio... This definitely works with OBS Studio, but NOT Streamlabs.
Another reason to ditch streamlabs OBS
Hi. This looks good. 1 question. How good is the audio quality for the discord viewers? My experiences last years what ever I tried to make this work the audio was very bad.. Crackling and you would think the audio was from the microphone instead of virtual cable.
I use this method to watch movies and shows with friends and they all say it sounds perfect. So it should work well.
In my case, I had to adjust for sync because the audio was a few millisecs ahead of the video when merged together in OBS.
i tried this but still nobody can hear the audio not even me
Something is wrong with your monitoring settings. Choose your soundcard manually in OBS and set the source to monitor and output.
@@infinitequality i already did that but doesn't matter anymore it started working for some reason
@@sifnix024 Sometimes restarting OBS and Discord will fix weird issues.
@@sifnix024 there is nothing wrong with your settings, this guy pretends like this is a one solution for everyone and it does not work on all capture cards.
YOU SAVED MY LIFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
How to share multiple screens wiith audio?
You just add them and lay them out in OBS so all can be seen.
@@infinitequality IT WORKED!!!! Thank so much, I've been trying this for YEARS!!!
Projector gives no audio it seems!
The projector isn't the aspect that provides the audio. It's the monitoring setup inside OBS, (not stream labs). You must have audio meters working in obs and the monitoring working as I describe in the video. The projector only provides the video feed.
Does this method let me stream a different hdmi?
Anything you can get working in OBS will show.
Are you using OBS studio?
@@infinitequality I use OBS Studio 27
Try updating your graphics driver and using OBS 29
@@infinitequality not sure if I want to update obs right now, but I'll keep that in mind, thanks
The problem is that the FPS are not smooth
This video just doesn't work. No sound coming thru to discord.
Legend : )
I tried, it did not work
Are you using OBS studio?
Are you using the discord application?
Are you on windows 10?
didnt work, only firefox get sound & games, but google chrome or obs with your tutorial didnt work unlucky
It does work for so many others though.
So something in your setup is wrong. Make sure you are using the normal discord Windows app, that OBS is up to date, and that your graphics drivers are up to date.
Золотой ты мой, спасибо.
somehow doesnt work :c
What doesn't work? I use this method every night with friends... If you are having trouble getting screenshare to work with discord you may have to update graphics drivers, reset discord settings, or you didn't follow may have skipped an important step in my video.
