Marks are not the measure of a person’s intelligence, and no one bears better testimony to this than Haldhar Nag. He is 66 years old and is from Odisha. Nag is a poet and his poems are written in Kosli (which is also known as Sambalpuri, and is the western-variation of the Odia language). He remembers all of them and can reel them off verbatim, on demand. Five research scholars have based their PhD theses on him.
'सादा जीवन, उच्च विचार'... ये कहावत 21वीं सदी में फ़िट नहीं बैठती है. इसके पीछे का प्रमुख कारण है पैसा. इंसान आज सिर्फ़ और सिर्फ़ पैसों के पीछे भाग रहा है, लेकिन इस देश में एक ऐसा इंसान भी है जो क़ाबिल होने के बावजूद धन-दौलत की इस मोह माया से ख़ुद को कोसों दूर रखता है. ऐसे ही एक शख्स हैं पद्मश्री पुरस्कार' पाने वाले ओड़िशा के मशहूर लोक कवि हलधर नाग। से वही हैं जन्हांने कहा था कि साहिब! मेरे पास दिल्ली आने के पैसे नहीं हैं कृपया पुरस्कार (पद्मश्री) डाक से भिजवा दीजिए.
