    Thank you for such a candid view of what to expect. I'm going to be entering my first few events this year. I know it is going to be a massive challenge as I'm used to riding a Triumph Explorer 1200 for wild camping etc., but really keen on entering a few enduro events,

    I have a 250f and plan on entering my first hare scramble at the end of the month, I’m old at life and new to bikes, I’m wise enough to be nervous.

    Man, those bark busters are priceless. My family races professionally in NHRA and you remind me of my good friend John Force, tell it like it is and show the good and the bad. I’m itching to race a hair scramble. Cheers again!

    I remember my first hare scramble. Being a woods rider my whole life thought it was going to be a breeze I had it all planned out. Go out for my first race ever in c class dominate the field and get moved up to b class. Well needless to say I didn’t even finish the race, broken hand guards, dented expansion chamber. Busted up bars. And for myself a severely weak body for over a week. If your looking to start a season racing hare scrambles and being competitive you need to exercise and build endurance. You could be the best rider in the world but if you don’t have endurance you will not make it 2 laps in a hare scramble. Invest in good gear and make sure you wear it for a period of time before racing your first race with it on. And be sure to hydrate, the cramps will come and they will f***ing hurt. I’ve found a lot of success hydrating the week before an event and the day before. Don’t go chugging down water before your race for obvious reasons. I’ve also learned drinking a little bit of pickle juice before an event holds down the cramps a little longer. I wear a camelback as well I carry an extra spark plug as well as the wrench and few other simple light tools. And lastly chaffing, tape up your skin that is known to chafe. If you take my advice and ride with your nice gear on you will know where you will chafe at.

      You will be fine! Just don't ride "over your limits" and you'll have no arm pump. Know when to push it and know when to dial it back for a min or two. You're going to have a blast, I know it!

    would you get a 300xc or a 350 xc-f knowing what you know now. theses are the two bikes im thinking of buying

    • @ThomperBeThompin
      @ThomperBeThompin Год назад +1

      Honestly either bike will be a blast. They essentially have the same suspension, so it may depend on what kind of power delivery you're after. The 300 XC will be more of a fire breathing dragon when you crack open the throttle, but can likely be lugged pretty low with less risk of stalling. The 350 will still be a powerful beast on the trail, but when pushing it, the power is more linear. It takes a bit more clutching to keep from stalling at ultra slow speeds (navigating rough rocky terrain, for example). In the end, I love them both very much, but prefer the 350

    Dear diary,
    Today I finally received what Santa never delivered ... a certified, authentic, #ThomperBeThompin greatest "hits" blooper reel. I need to work on making it a live wallpaper on my phone. I also need to start a GoFundMe for any possible future injuries he might sustain.
    Until next time,
