Thanks! I always wondered if someone went underwater to unanchor it. Or they just left it there and moved on. Now that I know, I can go back to sleep, now that it's 3AM.
Hebrews 6:19 NLT This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary. JESUS IS THE ANCHOR FOR OUR SOULS!
How it works ….. big heavy hooky thing on the end of a heavy chain dropped into the ocean until it hits the seabed, designed to hold the ship stationary
I came here after reading ignorant comments about why didn't the Dali's ship captain drop the Anchor in the Francis Scott Key Bridge incident to prevent it from crashing. From the looks of this video, there was very little the captain/crew could have done in such short time of losing power.
Anchors secure a ship not by merely sinking into the seafloor but through a system of design and physics. The anchor is dropped and a chain or line, known as the rode, is let out at a length multiple times the depth of the water, laying across the seafloor. The anchor drags along the seafloor, causing its flukes to dig into the sand or mud, securing the ship in place. When it's time to depart, the process reverses. The ship's windlass system pulls in the rode, reducing the angle with the seafloor and causing the flukes to disengage, allowing the anchor to be lifted. The holding power comes from the friction between the rode and the seafloor, combined with the anchor's design.

We learn something new everyday, I used to think the weight of an anchor alone were like a ball and chain tethering the ship.
What if the anchor hooks in a rock

Better explanation. I used to wonder how they pull it . If it's sunk in the sand
