    Love this update! We are big ETC fans over here as well, and we have proceeded with TGTB in a very similar fashion. Great tips!

    we adore ETC books as well. My daughter would not want to stop using them either. Thanks for showing how you use both.

    Loved hearing about how you’re making TG&TB work for you dear ... that’s the beauty of HS. Tailored learning ☺️ ... love the sight word check list!

    LOVE THIS! I was considering this curriculum so this video helps me see it, calms my nerves about spending so much on it, and decide if we like it or not. Thank you so much! I hope you keep posting these kinds of videos! Subscribing for sure. =)

      The breakdown of how you use it is awesome too!

    It's great that you are able to make the curriculum fit for you. We make some adjustments too as the lower levels can be very time-consuming. The phonics cards have been an eye-opener for me as there are a number of sounds that I didn't realize or couldn't verbalize before. I highly recommend having a look through them.

    Thank you for sharing! I'm new to homeschooling. Very happy to have landed here, I always wanted to homeschool my daughter but always thought I couldn't. I've been watching a LOT of videos and just when I made up my mind about purchasing the curriculum I watched a review that mentioned the 90 minutes for a lesson! No way we can spend all that time on one subject! I became very frustrated and discouraged.... I've researched all these curriculums... Am I ever going to find one?! The reviewer wasn't a fan of the curriculum so I figured let me keep youtubing hopefully someone talks about how to make it more time friendly. 💗 Blessings!

      They have revised everything and made things more cohesive with the new edition. This was the older version when they came out with it in the beginning. They made it more user friendly. I go at my kid's pace😊 I shared level 3 on my channel and you can see all the changes they made in their curriculum.

      Momma Schmooze Homeschool Reviews thank you! I will check it out💗 My daughter is going to 1st grade, she’s a good reader. Spelling, I’ll say she’s well at the 1st grade level. Writing we are working on it, specially being patient and focus. Should I get all 4 ETC? And, is the writing notebook from TGTB a must have? Oh goodness! Any more questions!? Right!😬 💗 Thank you for your time. :)

    Great review! I would likely do the same as you with TGTB - I like to use curricula as a resource rather than in a 'must complete all' way. I seriously considered using TGTB but had finally found a combo of LA resources that we really love (took a while) so I figure I better not fix what ain't broke! LOL

      Yes, I agree. Don't change if you have something working for you😉

    Thanks for this video! I’ve been looking at TGTB (the older levels) for a bit but I’m just not sure it’s exactly what my son needs even though it’s a great curriculum. This helped a ton! ❤️

      I'm so glad it helped. It's hard to find the right fit sometimes. Yes, it's a great curriculum but it might not be the best curriculum for every kid.

    So helpful!! We are only a week into it and struggling with the flashcards and I have debated on just ditching those but wasn't sure if it was really an important part of the lessons 😬but just seems like alot for my 1st grader... We also do not memorize the poetry bc I wasn't crazy about the poetry either 😂 We use the sight words and spelling words but definately taking our time with the spelling list and we do 10 minutes of assigned reading. I love TGATB but 30-45 minutes spent on LA is way too much for us. I try to keep it around 25 minutes that's including a level 1 reader. 👍

    • @MommaSchmoozeReviews
      @MommaSchmoozeReviews  4 года назад +1

      I never did the flashcards. It is a lot for a 1st grader, I agree. I wish I would have done the level before with her so it wasn't so stressful. Going at their pace is key and not rushing💕

      @@MommaSchmoozeReviews THANK YOU ❤ That helps take pressure off of using them 👏 We didn't use them today and let me say things went SO much smoother. I can see using only them if my 1st grader struggles with in an area but other than that I think they'll abide in a drawer 😂 Thanks again for sharing this video and helping me to feel not so alone 😁

    Are you using level one for 1st grade? I have purchased level k, 1 and 2. He is in kindergarten right now and I am torn whether I should start the level K this year or next. He is behind in speech and in speech therapy. He knows his alphabet and counting to 15 and colors shapes etc.

    • @MommaSchmoozeReviews
      @MommaSchmoozeReviews  4 года назад

      I did use level 1 for my daughter in 1st grade because she started reading earlier but I would say it was a little advanced for her so we took our time and went slow. Looking back I should have waited or worked on level K. My son is in 1st grade now and we are still focusing on phonics. I hope this helps you. I would definitely try Level K first with your son and see if it's the right fit.

      @@MommaSchmoozeReviews I have level k 1 and 2 and I was going to do in order I am just unsure if I should start level k the last 60 days this school year then finish up for 1st grade and then start level 1. We are planning to homeschool year round

    • @MommaSchmoozeReviews
      @MommaSchmoozeReviews  4 года назад

      If he's still learning to read definitely try level k now. I think your plan getting all the levels was smart! I would try looking at the pretest they have to see were he fits. Did you try that?

    • @AllThingsAnimalsofYT
      @AllThingsAnimalsofYT 4 года назад

      @@MommaSchmoozeReviews I did the protest and he knows all his letters. Where he is behind in speech getting the sounds correct all the time is a little different. I thought I might spend 2 days on each lesson for lessons 1 to 60 to get started. Planning on starting on day 60 of this year and completing 60 lessons by the end of this year and then a lesson per day to finish level k until day 60 in 1st grade then level 1 for the remainder of 1st grade.

      oh i don't remember it's been so long ago, she was definitely a young 1st grader. i am doing this level (revised edition which i love way better than the 1st edition) with my son in 2nd grade and it's perfect for him, at this season he is at.

    Great detailed video - I heard you say a you g 1st grader did you use the Level K TGATB? If so, were you able to incorporate Explode the Code as well? Thx.

      Thank you, Lynn! We did not do level k, but you can try incorporating ETC 1 with it depending upon your kids level.
