Nice video, what engine do you have in this 9A, I am looking.

Thanks for the video. I’m concerned about the lack of hangar space available at our local airport. I have plenty of space in my garage to get started, but at some point I will have to move to a hangar to attach the wings. Any suggestions?

I have a hangar that I share with another pilot. This is my second RV aircraft. I rented a uhaul truck to move everything but the main fuselage to the hangar first. Then I hired a flat bed truck to haul the fuselage later. Hope this helps.

hmmm I was under the impression that the RV-9/9a where all matched drilled and dimpled... many of these tools seem like they would be for the scratch/plans build. so the question is what build type is this for?

The RV-9/9A holes skin holes are matched drilled, but not final drilled, which is done during construction. None of the skin holes come already dimpled. They must dimpled during builder construction. See: www.vansaircraft.com/building-an-rv/tools/list-of-recommended-tools/

I can't wait to finish building my plane so I can also not sell my $4000 worth of tools to someone else wanting to build. I've already picked the lake I'm going to lose them in during a horrific boating accident.

I used to feel 'bad' that I couldn't afford to buy an airplane kit. Knowing I also couldn't afford to buy all the tools needed is just the cherry atop the "No Kit Plane for You" sundae - LOL

I hear ya. The process of building and tool buying (for me) was a long term process. It took several years and penny saving to accomplish my airplane goal. It is doable and fun.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!
Same goes for the tool acquisitions. Get what you can when you can. The most expensive tools are the DRDT-2 dimple machine ($400 + S&H) and the pneumatic squeezer ($700). The rest aren't as bad.

I know this post is three years old but your local EAA chapter usually has an assortment of tools.
