Yup, at the corner of the plastic bag itself there is a little flap you can use to open the ration. Was weird to see you use a knife to open it Nathan...
Great review Nathan! I have really enjoyed the Norwegian rations so far and this one looked really good. I need to try another some day. Thanks for sharing!
@@carstenmichel8905 It's terrible. I cheated on this one. Meine Großmutter hat es mir beigebracht. Ich bin ein böser Junge. I apologize for my ignorance.
It tastes nearly the same. Reindeer is very lean and with a distinct gamey taste. I would describe deer meat as that too. Reindeer is perhaps a bit "darker" and more course, leaning a little bit more towards moose/elk than deer.
What's the reasoning behind freeze dried meals for winter? Wouldn't ration heaters work well? I mean you still gotta boil the water. Cans would freeze and burst but those pouches should be good.
Hi Nathan, great review! Finally, in the winter ration there are products that are more easy to eat in the cold. It seems to me that there is more variety in this ration than in the American Cold Weather ration
I've had a reindeer stew since about June 2018 and i wanted to do a special Christmas video with it this year but I had some heath issues prevent me from doing the review. I'm just going to save it for next Christmas.
Very cool sir !! Great looking components friend. The reindeer stew sounds awesome to me. I love anything different. Those jerky strips, at least some, are tougher than the Canadian jerky. That sir, is quite A statement, LOL. Despite A few drawbacks, you had A very good meal Nathan. Peace, enjoy your meal, John.
I've seen people, when possible, dump out the main in the outside pouch that holds everything, then put some water in the reconstitution pouch so the whole bag gets wet even in corners. Then they put the main back in the pouch add the rest of the water and let it rehydrate, the lurps rations I had in the '80s never really fully reconstituted they always had dry hard spots unless you added so much that it made soup. That looked a lot better than what we had, more like today's Mt House meals, other than the lemon drink it all looked really good. I don't like those fake lemon drinks they taste as LEMON PLEDGE smells. If things ever get bad in Europe and I have to go fight alongside the NATO troops I don't think I would mind the food. One of my friends did a joint exercise with the Germans in the 90s and at it was common to swap US meals with the German forces, kinda like a show of friendship among the troops, he told me even the ones that didn't speak much English would almost always say once you traded meals, "YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS". I guess they got a lot of practice saying that line over and over. He didn't mind the meal that much but said he wouldn't want to eat it every day, anyway very good video, thanks for the review.
Ah great, I only wait for my favorite MRE reviewer Nathan :) Yes, the Skandinavian stuff is cool. Btw, I often eat your Avocado/Tuna menu, splendid. Have a great new week buddy :)
Nina and I really enjoyed the review. Nina was concerned that the red berry was really Rudolf's nose. LOL
😆😆 Nathan, your friend Art is very "special". Nice review
lol didn't think about that or I would have mentioned it in the video
We call them cow berries in Scotland.
The main bag has a peelable seal from the corner. The sticker is just there in case u want to close it again.
wanted to post that after seeing this barbaric approach

Reindeer stew. Different meal but looks delicious!

I think you would have a block of ice to heat up in a retort pouch, also no preservatives in freeze dried stuff for the most part
Cool review .... poor Blitzen 😉😉 !!
Those snack meats looks almost like kuivaliha
Dinner on December 26th

Nathan in Finland and maybe as well Norway they use hot cocoa as a sweetener as well as a creamer for coffee
Great review! Unfortunately I can never try this because I have an allergy to deer meat.

That reindeer stew doesn’t look overly appetising but I bet it taste delicious

Been watching for a number of reviews now and once you said: "Oh HELL no!", I jumped. Well, at least now I know you don't like everything...
I'm sitting here watching you eat venison stew while I eat venison and noodles and mashed potatoes. Only mine is white tail instead of reindeer.
