    Man, I get so caught up in mindlessly using all the notes of each mode in the same ascending order from learning the intervals and being able to jump from mode to mode... definately need to start learning where the 3rds, 5ths and 7ths are in each mode and like you said, “you don’t have to use each note in a mode”.
    Thanks again Dan!🤘🏻🔥

    Good lesson Dan and one where a lot of newer players struggle with.
    Patterns, triads etc along with learning the notes all over the fretboard allow more freedom.
    I love seeing that Ibanez getting a lot of time on your videos.
    Don't suppose you want to part with it. 🤔 Cheers
    Also ear training is so important.
    Lots of students don't pay enough attention to this.
    If you really want to develop your abilities, you need to be able to pay attention to what your playing and what you hear.
    Unless we're Sting or Flea etc and I'm sure they put the time in.
    Spending time consistently working on the things you and many others are teaching, pays off and doesn't really take that long.
    Yes it maybe boring to you and you just want to learn how to play a particular song or two, which is fine, but can you actually play that song well.
    It's the little things that people notice especially if their experienced. You might think, I can play this, but your not doing it justice.
    Ear training is in my opinion, the most important thing a long with counting, even in its most basic form to learn.
    Yes there's other aspects to playing, but if you can't hear them, you limit yourself. Cheers again.

    Hi Dan, i have a theory question about this lesson, Why the E7 Phrygian Dominant have a G# and not a G? That is not a normal Phrygian mode, please explain me this topic.

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  3 года назад +3

      Hi Diego. Great question. An E Phrygian mode comes from A Natural Minor and contains a G natural. The Phrygian Dominant mode is 'borrowed' from A Harmonic Minor. It has a G# in it (it's a different mode to a standard Phrygian) which is where the G7 arpeggio comes from. That chord has a stronger pull to the Am chord that starts the song. It's classic minor ii V i harmony. Hope that helps!

  • @thomasdanick7969
    @thomasdanick7969 3 года назад +1

    Hi Dan, had been looking forward to your weekly lessen and followed with interest. Now I got a basic question (there are no silly ones, are there?) somehow referring to Diego's one.
    Do the modes in the song "I will survive" follow the order of C maj in the table you provided only because Amin is the related key? Or in other words, would the mode order for let's say Amaj
    be Amaj Ionian, Bmin Dorian, C#min Phrygian, Dmaj7 Lydian and so on? Thanks a lot, will follow anyway best regards Thomas

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  3 года назад

      Never a silly question, no... you’re correct on all counts. C major and A Natural minor are related so all the triads and modes etc are the same. Two for the price of one! Correct on the Amaj7 info as well...
