I hope Emma didnt ask her mom what the sperm spot was !!!! Hahahaha that cracked me up big time . !!! Going through your older videos is so interesting & hilarious at times like this one. Lol. But it's amazing to see how much you have grown & evolved with your art work. Hell I'm 56 & I wanna be just like you when I grow up too. Hahaha. !!! 🤩🤩🤩😉😉😉😉😘😘😘😘
That was super cool of you to send a shout out to Emma 😊 it means a lot to acknowledge someone so young and impressionable, it will last a lifetime for her I'm sure and have a positive impact on things she will encounter in her life. We should all try and be more encouraging to others in our lives because it's effects last longer than we think 😀 thank you for all you do and share!
Absolutely stunning. You were the very first person I watched when I first learned about Acrylic Pours. Enjoy watching your creativity. Thank you. Elaine Engle
Love the painting and also love that you are an inspiration to all your viewers. It was so cool that you talked to little Emma in your video. She will be so excited I'm sure. HI EMMA!!!!! Thank you again MelyD. xoxoxox
I can't wait for her to hear it! Oh I hope her and/or her mom comment. I was almost crying when I read her message it made my day. Thanks for your kind words Narelle xXx
Beautiful! Love your mention of one commenter saying "Gold is so 2017!" Hahahaha! Yet.... everyone loves it! Silver is cool too, and you have done paintings with all the metallics. Love your work!
I think this is really striking. I would hang it up in my living room! I love your videos. I'm learning so much and greatly appreciate you taking the time to share with all of us. THANK YOU!
Absolutely gorgeous. I love it. You do an amazing job of instruction as well. I cannot wait to try this. It will be my first pour! Thanks for all you do.
Mely ..I just love your work and you inspire me so much..I try to do a lot of the paintings you do and I am pleased but they never look as professional as yours. I am having the time of my life doing this and at 78 I know I will never be an artist but sure am having fun trying THANKS TO YOU!!!
reading that you are having the time of your life just made my day. That's what it's all about no matter how old you are. Rock on Lesley!! Glad I could help! :)
This was beautiful. I have no idea why anyone would give this a thumbs down except maybe they have low self esteme and it makes them feel better to put others down. Not sure but either way it was very nice. Thanks for sharing
Hi 👋🏽 I know I’m late to the party 🎉 But I just ran across this video and I really enjoyed it ....... I turned the painting upside down and I saw a wolf howling & the shape of a moon... I know you probably think it sounds crazy 🤦🏽♀️ ....but that’s what I interpreted ☺️. This painting is beautiful 😊💕
Oh, very nice! Going to resin this one? Going to make one with gold right now. This type of painting, I suck at.....but it gives me a real nice break from doing graphite portraits.
Ok first something funny I just woke up check my phone and “bam” new MelyD video guess what first thing I did was Yep watch our famous MelyD lol Ok gold is not my go too metallic but love the results you got here It’s different how it seemed to slow down the white effect but I loved it and it works Idea 💡. Maybe hang a white curtain with your window to defuse the natural light a bit when needed on extra shinny pours Thank you for sharing with us and thank you for starting my day out great 😊
Very nice. I use FolkArt metallics in a lot of my pours. I've been happy with the outcome with most of the metallics. The one to stay away from is the Regal Red Metallic by FolkArt. I have not had any luck with it. It doesn't interact well with any of the other colors and it dries weird. I enjoy your videos and pours. Well done.
Love this one! And the shimmer of the gold does show up on the video. I noticed those "waves" in the black, too, and it looks good. Do you think that was due to using two types of black paints - perhaps they had differing pigment weights and/or were slightly different depths of black?
Patricia J Winn i know I'm a little late here but yes that's exactly what I think happened here. I've seen it before in other paintings but it didn't show as much as in this one. Great point!
You used 2 different black brands so I imagine that would make a difference also. This is beautiful. Can never go wrong with black and any colour … especially metallics. I'm a metallic and glitter person!
I wasn’t sure about that larger patch of gold you poured. I thought it might take over everything but once you started moving the paint it really worked out.
I was in interested to see the dry version where you had those matte lines in the black paint. I find I get those but only where I use metallics next to black. Sometimes it gives a good result, sometimes not so good for me. It's almost like something in the metallic paint pushes out into the black and I've even had it create a visible ridge. Tried all sorts of brands and no difference so far. And I'm ALL about the metallics in my paintings. Gold = everywhere. I am SO last year.
Last year LOL! I love metallics also but they are not as easy to work with. I think you just made me realize that when the metallic paint is moved into the black paint and then brought back, you see the black on top but when it dries the metallic comes through maybe? I dunno just a thought I'll try and pay more attention to that next time. The video I will be posting next Saturday has lines through the metallic color and I don't think there was anything I could do about it. That may sound vague.. you'll get it when you see. Btw love your accent Deby xXx
I was going to say maybe just two blacks colliding, but I think you’re right about the metallics. I use gold in almost every painting (bc hello it’s fabulous).. and one in particular is just black and gold- it does look like it impacts the black where the gold has pulled away. Interesting. Thanks for sharing MelyD (as always, beautiful work and love seeing and hearing about process) and thanks for the insight Deby! ✌🏽
Karen Dunlap there are so many colors that would look good with these three - blue, purple, red, orange, yellow and many more! It's what I like to call a basic color palette where you can add much more :)
Oh My Gosh..I accidentally paused the video with my lips again! Sorry I'm just being stupid😄 I love the two tone black center wavy part. It created beautiful depth and seems like more would jump at you as the light hits it at different angles, as you walk pass it.
I love it! I am not a gold person, but this is perfect. The dry down effects are great! Do you put a topcoat on your metalics? I am undecided what to do with a couple of mine. Thank you so much!
Huge lover of your videos here. A request...I love how u show the paint in cups, the adding of medium. Could u also show the level in cup after u stir and add water? That way, we can c how much water was added? That would be really helpful. Many thx!
Love your videos, easy to follow. I’ve done some myself on my channel. It’s amazing how the cells appear with no silicone. Thanks for sharing, I love sharing also.
The Folk Art gold also did not do the smoky thing that takes over more of the painting as it dries. I wonder if having more binding with the additional medium in the black and white had any effect. Last video I did not respond to your statement regarding your real name and wanting it sign with that now; basically I think you were stating, “I’m not sure how I want to handle it right now”. Since then, I have thought about it a couple times... why not sign your name and for awhile and put (MelyD) behind it. Just a thought. By the way, I have never read or heard of an artist thinking they were “famous”. Always talk about still learning and experimenting. It is in the eye of the beholder; you have many of us that actively follow you and value your work(people asking you to do a specific color scheme for them, as well). To us you are an artist, and to some little girl you are a famous artist. Great words of wisdom that you gave that little girl, and that child will always remember those special words from her mentor that is a famous artist.
Iv'e done pours where iv'e used a little black and its dominated everything. And then ones where iv'e used mainly white and none of it has shown through, it all just falls onto the bottom layer and the rest of the paint moves around on top of it. To anyone who says this is so easy a child could do it....you try it :)
Yep truth spoken right there. It is not as easy as it looks and you only know it once you've tried. I can give you a tip on that though... The white is the most dense color so it naturally seeps to the bottom and black the least so comes back to the top. Try mixing brands. Different ingredients from different brands help with this. I suggest using at least 2 different brands for 1 painting. :)
I didn't know that thanks for the advice, I'l definitely give that a try :) as much as its the trending thing right now, i think a lot of people don't realize it takes a LOT of trial and error to get it to actually look good. I think another big challenge with pouring is trying to achieve some sort of structure and not just a random mud of colours, or a "pretty mess" as i call it. You do this really well, i always see a structure and form to your work. I especially liked your simple is best series, some great ideas there :)
Hi I made a painting following yours and added a little more element like gold leaf and we here in Kolkata India have a festival celebrating Mother Goddess Durga , so I put her golden mask on top , the result is very much appreciated . I wanted to share with you as your art inspired me .see my fb page and if you give me ur mail id , I can send to you . Best Regards. Madhulika Saraf
My daughter watched this video and was so excited she started crying. Thanks for making her day❤

I love how the blacks created a slight wavy separation.
This is by far my favorite!
The dried result is stunning xx
You can never go wrong with black and gold! So sweet to mention Emma! 👌❤️😘

Aha! Yes, that makes sense about something from the gold "pushing in" to the black......
Acrylic Pouring you have to mix the metallic thicker
Gorgeous! I really love rose gold, which looks good with b&w also, but I've been wondering what other color palette it would go with. Any suggestions?
Karen Dunlap there are so many colors that would look good with these three - blue, purple, red, orange, yellow and many more! It's what I like to call a basic color palette where you can add much more :)

Inspirational as always! Does anyone else find themselves tipping their iPad while watching!?!?🤣
Pam Sanders I am always tipping my phone I I just can't help it.
Great thanks for sharing

Manolo Lopez 😂😂😂
Manolo, I don't know what I look forward to more....a new video from Melissa or YOUR comments....you always make me smile! LOL
You're so sweet and funny I don't even know what to answer anymore. I'm gonna go with @SantaFeLady and say that you always make me smile too :)
amazing
I love it! I am not a gold person, but this is perfect. The dry down effects are great! Do you put a topcoat on your metalics? I am undecided what to do with a couple of mine. Thank you so much!
Love it. I am addicted to gold. Which silver do you use? Mine always looks grey
I like the DecoArt silver. The bottle I showed in the last video,
I use Decoart, Glorious Gold, and its always shiny.
What kind of canvas was this or was it a panel board? Very nice piece of art!!
Steve Gomez it was a 30"×15" canvas and thank you so much!
Huge lover of your videos here. A request...I love how u show the paint in cups, the adding of medium. Could u also show the level in cup after u stir and add water? That way, we can c how much water was added? That would be really helpful. Many thx!
I could try that. The problem is timing and camera positioning but I'll think of something.
It would be helpful to see close-up the consistency of the paint. It flows like it's quite a bit thinner than the fresh from the bottle stuff. Is it?
ChefMimsy yes it is thinner because it's diluted but I've shown it before in other videos so I don't show it each time. Makes the video longer ;)
Love your videos, easy to follow. I’ve done some myself on my channel. It’s amazing how the cells appear with no silicone. Thanks for sharing, I love sharing also.
Beautiful……
Muito bom!
What would you say your ratio of paint to liquitex PM do you use in this video
When this dries is it glossy or matte finish?
Denna Clark it is matte accept for the gold that is shiny
I like it, ---Dave...
😎👍🏻
How long does it take to dry please
Sharon Oneill about 1 day
you are excellent
You have the Midas touch!

Hey Check the golden honey bear in this. Woweeee
But you ARE famous!!!!!
I see a person or a child on the left side of the painting. Did everyone see this too?
YAY! Another video! You've been a busy woman! OMG....LOL @ sperm! And I agree with you, the Americana gold is much nicer than the Folkart brand.
I have been busy but vacation time is over, back to work tomorrow. UGH! And wasn't he cute? LOL!
Should have fixed that little white you know what you called it in the corner. A little black over it would have perfect! Phenomenal artwork
AnnDee Williams-Thompson No! The sperm adds interest!
Hey I like the sperm! I could have removed it easily yes but didn't want to :)
MelyD.artist I always respect you and your decisions especially your artistic process. As always if you need anything I’m here. Much love
