I’ve been on this platform since its beginning, and I’ve definitely seen change. The space has grown very full, so the strategy started shifting from personal community based loyalty around 2011-2012, and it started to get very competitive. First it was red circle thumbnails and gen1 clickbait titles, next came the exaggerated personalities, screaming and laughing over everything. Then came the gen2 clickbait, where people started to research what worked and what didn’t, and it got more vicious and effective by the month. Now we’re around 2016. Here comes the invasion of fake content, prank channels get borderline criminal, the bar keeps getting raised with the ‘extreme stunts’ and the rise of BS financial gurus and investment bros. Then the meta became optimizing attention span retention, minmaxing and overediting so there’s never a second of quiet, and all of this is happening and getting worse all the time
Wow! It's cool that you're able to recognize all of this! Thanks for giving your perspective! I'm planning to learn what I came from the more modern style of content but not completely go insane and lose all individuality and personality just by maximizing everything to appeal to an algorithm
I feel the same way with the “doesn’t feel personal anymore” thing. That’s why I don’t want to be a shorts RUclipsr (though I do make shorts) because no one would know my personality and I wouldn’t have a proper “community”
That’s a interesting take!! I try to use them as a form or marketing and comedy that will hopefully give people a good time and bring them to my channel. It also allows me to test different ideas without a large time commitment! I plan on staying away from the “trending” shorts audio unless I really like one. I don’t wanna jump on it just to get famous. Feel sleezy and try hardy
@@LuneToon032 yeah, I use them basically as a “hey, my channel exists” comedy thing too. Also I too don’t like doing the trendy Minecraft sounds and stuff.
Right there with you. I like making memories, videos help me remember moments that matter. That Mr. Beast manifesto made me feel icky, I wrote my own response doc to take the good points (don't spend too long perfecting a video) but replace the optimized content mill with what feels natural As I'm typing you said icky about asking for likes subs etc, that's how I feel!
That's a cool approach to making videos! I started making them cause I want to see how far I can take this thing in terms of video quality, developing my Minecraft skills, and channel growth. Mr. Beast has a manifesto? I've never heard of it.
I feel the exact same way, that RUclips is soulless. In fact I've made a resolution to be more personal and automatic this year on my channel. Thanks so much for this video, we need more like it frfr
I like your message, I think you have the right idea, but if you'll take some friendly criticism, it sounded like you did the same intro like three times. It seems like you meant for there to be a cut but forgot. Just something I noticed as a consumer, not a creator, good luck with your channel
Oh, interesting! Thanks for letting me know! I honestly didn't pay too much attention to this one because I wanted it to be kind of raw feeling video. Because of that I didn't edit too much and didn't have much of a script to go off of which is why I may have ended up repeating myself. I just wanted to get my thoughts out and see what others think! Thank you again for the feedback :D Later down the line I'm considering doing another video like this but with a little bit higher quality and lots more script
A lot of RUclipsrs became famous and so yes they feel less relatable and they become obsessed with their own content and have too many viewers watching to care. It's better than watching tv on RUclips you can watch millions of different channels so you can always find another RUclipsr who is relatable to you. All my favorite youtubers I used to watch are now soulless except maybe 1 RUclips I still watch he doesnt seem soulless its all clicks at the end if the day and always take inspiration from your favorite creators. What do you like about them? What do you dislike? And what can you do to make parts you like and discard the bad parts and just have fun. If its not fun youll just be abother soulless creator like the rest
I wonder if it’s also because it’s hard for them to be relatable because of how bit they are. It’s gotta be hard to relate to that many people. I definitely agree with the learn what I can from my favorite creators idea. That’s what I’m trying to do!
RUclips started as an alternative to Hollywood and mainstream media. Now everyone on RUclips wants to be Hollywood and the mainstream media. Btw, you kind of remind me of early Etho.
Yeah, I can definitely see that with the crazy personalities people out on. I love how some creators can be big but still feel real like TangoTek, ImpulseSV, Skizzleman, and Etho to name a few I like. I think Impulse and Skizz’s podcast has added to what feels like their “realness” as creators IMO. I’ve wondered if I might give off early Etho vibes. That’s cool to hear and a little flattering, thanks😊
You are absolutely right man. Big youtube channels feels like corporations instead of people.
That's because a lot of them literally are corporations. People really don't understand that "corporations" aren't just those companies in the S&P 500
Very interesting!

Yeah, some of them sound super weird tbh. Like what’s with the cadence of the guy speaking… ew

I’m just trying to show people they can build iron farms without a captured zombie.
That's really cool! I didn't know you could do that! What villager mechanics are you using to make the farm work?
@
This shows how fast you can have iron producing.

Good to know man, thank you!
