  • A work and pensions minister said there are “plenty of very wealthy pensioners” who do not need the winter fuel payment, as she defended reforms to the benefit.
Emma Reynolds said there is “fairly widespread agreement” among MPs that the benefit should not be universal, adding it is right for the Government to target support to the poorest pensioners.

She is also not mentioning the £3600 the mps get for their fuel allowance, the £250 a week they get for meals, that alone is more than my monthly food bill. Why can’t those voted in do the best for our own rather than giving to foreign countries and those coming over the water.

@@kellyturner9004 oh I preach this again and again I have written a text about the illegals and I will keep on and on about the millions and millions to those that are ILLEGAL. They are laughing at us hotels, beautiful brand new apartments fully fitted out, new beds, bedding, curtains, clothes, shoes, etc including mobile phones WHY? If they have just come here who are they going to phone???? I mention this again and again but nobody answers. If I had been in Parliament today I would have asked this question but of course I am not. But it's like a dirty word like Muslim. One has three WIVES with several children all claiming benefits! What?? It's against the law, BIGAMY! But nobody answers me!!! Amen😭

I am one of those pensioners. Lost everything when they locked down my business. Home, business and savings gone and from that date I have had to live in a van. I have paid in and employed a lot of people throughout my carrer and now at 66 I watch these traitors spewing baseless rhetoric, then they will go to a lovely fully heated home. It wasn't a difficult decision to give train drivers on £80000 a year inflation busting pay rises.
18 billion for wind farms for 3rd world countries.

I can't understand Starmer Rayner, Reeves and co. Where are their brains ? Why would anyone who has been in the political wilderness for years, want to alienate the very people who put their faith in them and gave them another chance . It just proves that nothings changed with labour after all the s... they got us in before ,they've learned nothing and have no respect for the indigenous folk of our country especially pensioners. TRAITORS ALL OF THEM

This now clears the way to remove the pension from anyone with more than £5,000 savings. Starmer has already stated that the definition of a rich person is anyone with savings.

More and more pensioners are going to die because of this all the government should be ashamed of themselves

I’ve been experimenting with candle and flowerpot heaters, not perfect but good enough to help stave off the worst effects of the cold. This is what we have sunk to when we have a government of a supposedly sophisticated society that is prepared to have its pensioners huddled around a candle to avoid freezing.

I'm a pensioner and live in my kitchen during the winter as it's my warmest room, i didn't expect my retirement to be like this. I have a small works pension and not the full state pension and I'm scared i don't want to die yet but each year i get a bit older I'm feeling the cold more and more 😢🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
