The tax year is the same as the calendar year in Spain. The rule though is the you are liable to pay tax in the whole of that calendar year if you spend more than half of it (183 days) in Spain. So for example if you hadn’t yet been here in 2023 and you moved here on July 5th, you wouldn’t be liable to tax for 2023, unless of course you had a job or were self employed, in which case you start to be liable for tax the moment you register you’re working and paying SS contributions.
Sorry to disappoint you but they’re still coming. Visa applications are filling the appointments every day and there are still plenty of Brit tourists. Fortunately though, this video is only about a very small percentage of Brit visitors.
unfortenately they will come hee, get drunk, drive cars and eventually kill European citizens as it happens every year. We are wondering why don't you stay in your country and do the same?@@youtoospain
That does seem to be the main impetus for many people. It was quite high on the list for us in choosing where to live, but certainly not the only thing. It still makes me giggle that I’m sitting outside wearing shorts as late as November.
We Spaniards have the weird habit of making Spanish things like speaking Spanish, cooking and eating Spanish food, writing signs in Spanish, etc. Sometimes I think we're real weirdos.
Very funny Skatz well put together. Skats do you know is it advisable to sell your UK property before you apply for the NLV. ( thus avoiding CGT). How will the Spanish know if you sell after residing in Spain?
Thanks. Yes it’s advisable to sell before you move and time your move either in the second half of the year or in the following year. They’ll know because your bank statements will tell them at some point, and tax administrations in both countries share information. They might not know immediately but they will find out and punish you if you try to hide it. When are you moving?
This might sound like a silly question but I keep hearing about having to pay tax when you move to Spain, is this only if you are intending to work there? The good lady and I are planing to move there to retire in a few years, do you pay tax on your own money?
@@alanwellsphotography you won’t pay tax on any savings you have, but any income like interest on savings, and pension, are taxable above a certain amount. It’s worth checking with a tax specialist nearer the time what the allowances are. We have one coming on the show soon.
That’s a whole other video. But for now let’s just enjoys Brits being stupid. Having a go at the Irish for being drunk and stupid is something that Brits did for far too long so perhaps it’s not the way to go.
Passed through Palma Airport passport check a couple of weeks ago in 5 minutes. With an Irish/EU passport
Of course. You are Irish. We can go anywhere. 🤣
This video made my day, it is soooo funny. Thank you!! 💞💞💞💞
You’re welcome, tell the world!
Did they not have hyenas in the zoo? Hyenas are always smiling!!
Hi Skatz when does the tax year start in Spain. Is it advisable to move before or after the tax year begins?

As the topic is about people complaining when they go on holiday, this is a great video to let your characters show off.
It’s the perfect opportunity. I couldn’t shut them up!
thank god brits will not come to the EU after brexit

Lol. Yeah you should stop that right away and get yourself some sunburn and demand proper British food 🤪🤣

@@youtoospain we are Irish passport holders like yourself 😊 does this apply to both EU & non EU passport holders?
@@alanwellsphotography your passport makes no difference to the amount of tax you pay once you’re a resident. It’s all about income.
Embarrassing arnt we 😮
Oh Gary Gary Gary we are. Fortunately we can laugh at ourselves
Love it 😅
😀😀😀😀
The Irish never complain? Probably too pissed.

You are merely exposing your own prejudices.
I’m merely having a laugh at stupidity.
