the entire concept is flawed because it only serves as ego-christian allegory piece by Shamalyan M night loves to make jesus and christian allegory plots in his work and in this case he makes himself the chosen one who will inspire the future president but be murdered for mankind sins and of course his hatred of critics who slam him ,so he makes the critic the literal main/secondary villain of the film. The only reason for this film is an ego piece for the director.
at first I was so confused as to how M Night can go from the sixth sense and unbreakable to this: but then again the director of the God Father also directed Jack: starring robin williams....
that is far easier to explain honestly, the shyamalan debacle is a complete mystery, francis ford coppola got lucky that he mande 3 of the best movies of all time, pretty much in a row, otherwise his career would have died MUCH earlier
EGO, pure and simple M Night was good with the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable because he was just starting out, and he wa exploring actual creative ideas But as started with signs M night began to put more and more of his christian ideology into his films Signs is not a horror film or a sci fi film it’s a “rediscovering ones christian faith” film with alines as a mere plot device This film literally has M night make himself jesus and even attacks criticism and critics The village was a great idea but the twist ruins it and was poorly executed, The happening is ridiculous and should have ended his entire career
Um, what's Bryce Dallas Howard pointing at while she's being carried by Paul Giamatti? The water? Because it's clearly not the grass dog, because that thing is to the left of them.
Whats so funny is that the premise of this movie isn't bad. Its actually kind of awesome. A group of characters find a girl from a lost civilization that was only part of a legend and they are all reincarnations of the character roles in that story! And the rest of the movie is them trying to figure out who fits which character role while fighting to save the girls life! Thats an awesome premise!
M. Night reminds me of my unmedicated ADHD self: great at coming up with creative ideas, but bad at follow-through and execution. That's fine if I have other people to help me or enough self-awareness and motivation to double-check my own work. But if you have a massive ego and are surrounded by yes-men, you think your messy first draft is a masterpiece.
Sometimes people work best with others, and this guy def. needs someone to help him structurize his stories better. It kinda seems he's so caught up on them that he forgets other people are in a different mind set than he is.
Something I find strangely compelling about Shamalan's work is that any of his stories could easily be great or at least decent if handled by...well, other people. The basic ideas and characters are solid for a first draft. C.J. Cherryh said It is perfectly okay to write garbage as long as you edit brilliantly, and Shamalan is a terrible editor.
You're right, the premise of his stories is truly incredible. He is, unfortunately, cursed with the George Lucas touch wherein he creates amazing stories but ends up destroying them entirely by taking too much control over them.
I’m stuck on the adorable cottage the *apartment building caretaker* lives in. Why is this apartment building only on three sides of the pool and the caretaker’s cottage gets the whole 4th side? THAT’S VALUABLE SPACE!
i absolutely hate when directors feel the need to put themselves into their movies, cool a cameo or in the background sure, but dude fuckin' direct the movie. Edit: I should have said, Actors who become directors aren't bad. Directors who think they will be good at acting because they direct are usually not great. i.e. Tarantino, M. Night etc.
I get why M Knight shoots most of his movies in Philly since that's where he's from. But that type of apartment complex COULD exist in Philadelphia, like in the Center City area where all the rich people live.
I think this movie could work pretty well as an anime. A lot of the unusual fantasy elements definitely would definitely feel more natural in such a format and I think an audience would be more inclined to accept it for what it is. I think it's a very interesting concept and I love the fact that Shamalan went out of his way to make this creation despite the opinion of others. It's what I can admire most about the director--he marches to the beat of his own drum. :)

You're not gonna talk about the cereal boxes?
They probably did in the full version. This is a heavily abridged version of their full riff.
The scene that broke the Nostalgia Critic.
Do you think if they had dumped the adult content and made it a kids movie the plot would work better
It wouldn't, but it's still a better idea, than dropping the plot and making it an adult movie.
It would have to take itself waaaaaaay less seriously first. And the names just don't roll of the tongue like..at all. Scrunts? Narfs? Bleh.
The Bleh were a third faction of sidewalk concrete penguins that had to be cut for time and budget.
the entire concept is flawed because it only serves as ego-christian allegory piece by Shamalyan
M night loves to make jesus and christian allegory plots in his work
and in this case he makes himself the chosen one who will inspire the future president but be murdered for mankind sins
and of course his hatred of critics who slam him ,so he makes the critic the literal main/secondary villain of the film.
The only reason for this film is an ego piece for the director.
It coulda been a mermaid movie, like Little Mermaid from the perspective of the prince but it takes place in modern day and stuff.
Scott will always and forever be my Lock of the Week. R.I.P you gorgeous tiger

So much tension. Another masterpiece by mister M. Night Shamalamadingdong.
LaChancla your name is scarier than the movie
at first I was so confused as to how M Night can go from the sixth sense and unbreakable to this: but then again the director of the God Father also directed Jack: starring robin williams....
but only after his career was ruined by the failure of Bran Stoker's Dracula :/
that is far easier to explain honestly, the shyamalan debacle is a complete mystery, francis ford coppola got lucky that he mande 3 of the best movies of all time, pretty much in a row, otherwise his career would have died MUCH earlier
I know it’s insane that he directed a masterpiece like jack then just fucks his career with a piece of shit like The Godfather.
EGO, pure and simple
M Night was good with the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable because he was just starting out, and he wa exploring actual creative ideas
But as started with signs M night began to put more and more of his christian ideology into his films
Signs is not a horror film or a sci fi film
it’s a “rediscovering ones christian faith” film with alines as a mere plot device
This film literally has M night make himself jesus and even attacks criticism and critics
The village was a great idea but the twist ruins it and was poorly executed,
The happening is ridiculous and should have ended his entire career
So, he kinda sorta put Christian faith into...one film
Um, what's Bryce Dallas Howard pointing at while she's being carried by Paul Giamatti? The water? Because it's clearly not the grass dog, because that thing is to the left of them.
The water, it looks like

"Bazooper" made me laugh exponentially more than it should have.
Yay! It's a Christmas miracle!!! Thank you Adam!
Omg it's a YMS Xmas miracle
I think you mean YMXmas. Really rolls off the tongue
hearing Adam go "this is wrong" quietly while Gael and Scoot are screaming at paul giamatti "NO BE THE ADULT" is so fucking funny
I've genuinely had a pretty shitty stutter all my life so this made Paul's performance even more hilarious...
"They are Koreans...they were yelling at each other"
Whats so funny is that the premise of this movie isn't bad.
@@janeeyre1990 Right? Yes-men are terrible. And having an uncontrolled ego is terrible for writing.
Sometimes people work best with others, and this guy def. needs someone to help him structurize his stories better. It kinda seems he's so caught up on them that he forgets other people are in a different mind set than he is.
Even after this shitpile of a movie, it was all better at the end thanks to Chris P. Bacon.
Will you do bright? wanna hear your thoughts on it
I’m stuck on the adorable cottage the *apartment building caretaker* lives in. Why is this apartment building only on three sides of the pool and the caretaker’s cottage gets the whole 4th side? THAT’S VALUABLE SPACE!
Shyamalan needs to just accept that he wants to make a slightly more adult version of Goosebumps
The only good thing about this movie is Bryce Dallas Howard's legs.
I can’t believe m night wasted his budget building an apartment complex....
I can't believe that I actually watched this shit in cinema. I almost walked out...
The Black Baron you poor bastard
i absolutely hate when directors feel the need to put themselves into their movies, cool a cameo or in the background sure, but dude fuckin' direct the movie.
Edit: I should have said, Actors who become directors aren't bad. Directors who think they will be good at acting because they direct are usually not great. i.e. Tarantino, M. Night etc.
I disagree that it always is the case that a director being in his own film is necessarily bad, just look at Orson Welles
Or Quintin Tarantino
What about Clint Eastwood?
raham mz I watch Woody Allen movies for Woody Allen :)
so you dislike Tarantino's most famous films?
I get why M Knight shoots most of his movies in Philly since that's where he's from. But that type of apartment complex COULD exist in Philadelphia, like in the Center City area where all the rich people live.
If it does why he didn't he shoot there?
@@jacobs2099 maybe he didn't want to?
I think this movie could work pretty well as an anime. A lot of the unusual fantasy elements definitely would definitely feel more natural in such a format and I think an audience would be more inclined to accept it for what it is. I think it's a very interesting concept and I love the fact that Shamalan went out of his way to make this creation despite the opinion of others. It's what I can admire most about the director--he marches to the beat of his own drum. :)
