Thank you for breaking it down, even though it's an easy song. I can't quite play by ear yet, and I gotta take baby steps when I learn things. I really appreciate it!
you sir are a banjo king. Been playing for almost a year and suck on 5-6 songs for past couple months. This one will definitely make my 7th. If you know any other easier songs to learn please let me know. Trying to work up to Hills of Mexico. Thanks again
I’m fairly new to the banjo (been playing guitar many years prior) and Im finding your videos so helpful. Do you think you might do a video on Clarence Ashley’s Little Hillside some time? Its a beautiful tune in a minor key; Its hard for me to tell what exactly hes doing on the banjo and what the chords are.
Love the way you play the non metal strings. Guess that's the way that banjo should sound. Seems to me that plucking sounds better on those strings but you sound ok either way. Really enjoy your playing.s.
@@CliftonHicksbanjo thanks! Came back to edit this comment for anyone else who might be reading and thinking about buying these albums (I got volume 2). Do it!! Worth every cent. What an amazing collection of songs, most of which you're just not gonna find anywhere else! Definitely gonna be a lifelong favourite.
Hey Clifton, you're videos are fantastic and really inspiring during quarantine. I really like the old time sound of the nylon strings, but I've noticed you play them on shorter neck Banjos. I am wondering if any banjo can use nylon strings?
great tune Thanks for showing it to us. now a favorite of mine ! I am a very beginner . is TAB available . I couldn' t keep up with all right hand fingering or what chord to play when with left hang. Thanks George

I really appreciate this video thank you 🙏
You are the sole reason I learned to play the banjo. I just wanted to thank you for giving me this spark.
Hey Clifton, banjo picker from Ireland. Just want to say thanks for your work.
This guy is simply fantastic.
@:55 ugh meeee. Thanks for putting this up for help in encouraging us new comers to the banjo.
Clifton : Thanks for cluing us in on how to slow down the videos further. that will help me tremendously !

Clifton thank you so much for this video. Love the tune and cannot wait to get started later today. Appreciate it.
Just watched your original video for this tune. It’s great!

Thanks again for a great lesson Clifton. Love the sound and looks of your banjo.
Lord knows this is gonna be my first cover.
My brain just ain't smart enough to figure out the easy songs but I can figure out the hard ones

Where can I find the tabs for this? I checked the patreon but couldn’t find anything.
Email me clifhicks@gmail.com I'll send you the tab. It is definitely on Patreon.com/CliftonHicks but their search feature can be clunky.
Is this the same tuning you use on the old leatherstocking recording?
Yes. Same relative tuning.

Did Bobby McMillon ever make a recording of this? I've had a look but can't find anything.
It's on one of Art Rosenbaum's "Art of Field Recording" compilations
