Nanami dies. He is thinking about what made him come back to the jujutsu world, and he sees Haibara in front of him pointing - then he sees that Yuji is standing there…Yuji was his reason ❤️
It was Haibara pointing to Yuji for Nanami to tell Yuji to leave the rest to him to show Nanami's trust in the future. Nanami resisted initially because he didn't want to put that pressure on Yuji as a kid. But he had to let go since he was dying. Context of ch 236 from manga also adds to this.
The anime-original content in this episode was INSANE. Nanami's death was done so much justice. It hit hard in the original, but this went above and beyond. So much love to the animators, PLEASE GIVE THEM A DAY OFF
"above and beyond" is crazy ngl considering the insane drop in quality compared to last episode (yes im aware of mappa situation but im just pointing out the obvious)
@@K_Petar yeah obviously there was a production-related drop in quality, I'm talking about the directing choices in his death scene compared to the manga death scene. They added a lot and it really upped the emotion, imo
I was disgusted when Mahito stabbed Junpei's face in front of Yuji, but I gotta admit, he's fucking ruthless and that makes him a great villain. I also cried buckets watching Nanami's scene. It was tragically beautiful. RIP Nanami Kento, you did amazing; you deserve that vacation in Malaysia. ♥
Guilt wise, Itadori probably feels even worse now considering that if he left grieving shibuya a few seconds earlier, he might’ve saved nanami assuming nanami got to shoko in time.
I didn’t cry when Nanami died in the manga, it hurt but I kept going, but seeing it animated made me tear up. Nanami deserved his retirement in Malaysia with all his books.
This is what Gojo fears the most for his students. He said that as a sorcerer him and Nanami already knows how messed up this world is, "People like us know how to spit out the poison circling around our hearts. However, the youngsters who are still growing are different. Just one poison could break their hearts." (This is from the audio drama Resurrection Doll Mission of Gojo and Nanami) This is why he decided to let Nanami handle Yuji, because he knew Yuji needed somebody else to look up to aside from him, he couldn't play the "role model" part for Yuji but Nanami can and boy Nanami did more than that. Nanami's last words weighs heavily not just to the viewers but for Yuji as well, two of the adults he's looking up to is not in the picture anymore. Gojo is sealed and Nanami is dead, he's alone, he has to deal with all of this just because he is Sukuna's vessel. He ate that first finger to save people, not knowing this is where he would end up. Nanami's last words is the opposite from his words to Yuji the first time they fought together, as an adult he takes over for Yuji but here he says "You take it from here." because this is Yuji's first step in becoming an adult, two of his role models gone, and now he has to face all of this by himself nobody to step in for him the way Gojo did when they faced Hanami, and no more Nanami to be an adult for him. I couldn't stop crying because I've got to watch one of Enojun's behind the scenes during the recording of these scenes in Shibuya and he was crying his heart out while he's on the floor and hearing his voice breaks as Yuji hurts even more. Hats off to Tsuda-san's voice acting for Nanami as well, I could hear the exhaustion from his voice. This scene was given justice and exceeds expectations. This is a heartbreaking farewell but done beautifully.
fun fact In japan, this episode was aired on 勤労感謝の日 aka Labor Thanksgiving Day, a day to thank workers for their labor and dedication to their work rest in peace nanami
bro when i read this in the manga, i was bummed but far from tears. but the way the anime did this with the cut aways to nanami at the beach and the beautiful music…..they hit me hard with this frfr. rip goat
IMHO, the angle of his death was more brutal in the manga, but it would've been too much 😢. The animators have done it again with the scene extensions; imagining himself in paradise while fighting in hell, so, so sad.The piano sequence is like when Riko is at the aquarium... Sayonara Nanamin 💔. Thank you for your review.
in manga his guts and bones were flying all over the place. It's definitely more gruesome there ... still... manga didn't hit me as much as this episode
I don't think it was much more brutal. They showed some of his spine skeleton in manga, so if you mean that, but that's about it. In anime you see more of him transforming before bursting. The anime made his death more beautiful as far as the beach scenery stuff with him there and the music while he was fighting.
I'm shocked when i first read this in the manga because of how specific that Gege Akutami choose Kuantan,Malaysia. As a Malaysian myself, Kuantan is indeed a great place to live. I'd recommend go to The Cherating Beach it's gorgeous.
Gojo knew Nanami could aid Yuji in ways he couldn't hence why he recruited him in the first place. The light novel chapter/audio voice recordings by VAs have the story to go into it more about Gojo going to Nanami about it. That also shows Gojo cared enough about Yuji to go to someone else for his sake.

this is why i will maintain saying JJK is Bleach but done better. Nanami dying reminds me of Byakuya on the verge of death asking Ichigo for a favor and that moment we all thought he was going to die, only to find out an episode later he survived. that's one of the reasons why i never rated Bleach as highly as DBZ or JJK, these animes are not afraid to kill off important characters. these small things are what break or make an anime for me and this is why JJK is my 2nd favorite anime of all time.
