The protons were discovered by Goldstein in 1886 and the symbol of Helium is He.

Protons weren't dicovered by Goldstein he just remodified the Crook's tube with the cathode canal . Then Rutherford discoverd protons by calculations .

You didn't mention why protons emitt from wax.

The reason why only protons emit is because the neutron has the mass approximately equal to that of the proton, so as soon as neutron hits it, it get ejected and now u might have a question when neutron get ejected, this is becoz alpha particles are positively charged, so when come in contact with the proton, they will rebound but not able to eject since both are similar charged but neutron has no charge,. So it gets ejected from it.
