Regency was early 1800s whereas Rococo was 1750s-through the end of 1700s. So Regency era is a response to Rococo.
In France we had the French Revolution, and we all know what happened there (Marie Antoinette was beheaded). So the fashions she popularized (tall pastel powdered hair, cinched stays worn to give the waist an hourglass figure, and panniers worn under the skirts to create a massive poofy silhouette, so large women walked sideways through doors!) were seen as tacky and gauche. Think how Gen Z sees skinny jeans haha.
Regency Era (Bridgerton) was a response to the excess of the era. So hair was no longer piled high on the head, but curled around the face, busts were empire, and skirts were column style reminiscent of Greek pillars.
My momma is a costume designer and a fashion historian!! So I am a nerd for it.

The only character named Zia that I have heard of is Zia Rashid from the Kane Chronicles novel series by Rick Riordan, so I know that it's a real name that exists. But I'm just happy that the Dream Besties show is at least interesting to watch.🖤💜

Just because she is a frenemy doesn't mean she is a Raquelle ripoff. Barbie has been making animated media for 37 years. You don't expect the same character over and over, right? I mean I know some of you guys were really attached to Raquelle, but any character that is 'mean' isn't a new Raquelle. She's not even asian, so why compare Raquelle and Zia? Zia probably isn't someone you are supposed to get attached to and probably won't get a doll and is a throwaway character just for plot purposes. The only thing slightly similar is she looks like the red headed Barbie DIaries Raquelle way back from 2005, the Raquelle that isn't popular among fans

Watched the dream besties ep, was a little underwhelmed. They threw in a few things that weren’t established in ep 1 like the dream space, and them being in high school??? The dream space was weird cause they were just casually floating in the clouds while talking and I was like “uhhh 😭” but whatever it’s alright I don’t see this show being the most logical or great in terms of story telling (the animation is so bad though they could have done better than THAT) I’m really digging the dolls themselves though like they’re so high quality to me for the price. Can’t wait for wave two and that possibly skating line I heard someone mention on twitter 👀
In the Philippines we have unique names Boy, Girlie, Esperanza, etc.
Zia could be short for something, or normal in some other countries.
I very much enjoy your euphoria about everying doll related. Dream Besties are a refreshing approach and my initial thought was that this is the My Scene line. 😊 I just ordered the Tribute to Fashion Barbie and I cannot wait until end of October. Then again I am in Europe so it most probably will be mid/end November. Thanks for your up-dates.

They did a Zia doll around ten yeats ago she had a rocker vibe with short blue hair. She used the Raquelle face mold.
The Tribute Barbie is beautiful but only letting her be available for one day is really so upsetting 😖. Maybe some people have funds all the time, but others of us have to wait until we get funds. I like the fairy doll; she’s really adorable 💗. Well as usual Mattel has to make things hard for collectors. I guess I’ll just focus on the dolls that aren’t limited in amount or timeframe.
