The preparations for Durga Puja typically begin weeks in advance, with communities and families setting up grand pandals (decorated temporary structures) to house the idols of Goddess Durga and her children (Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartikeya, and Ganesha). There will be rituals, cultural performances, feasting, and the iconic sindoor khela (vermillion game) on the final day, before the immersion of the idols in water bodies.
