Awesome images and tips Dave! Just started reading your *.pdf on the night skies in the school yesterday. My Nikon 14-24 f2.8 got fixed so once weather improves for an elder I'll be out and about.
Direct and to the point, a welcome event on youtube! When you started, I thought you were wearing Mickey Mouse ears, but figured out it was the 2 dark jackets hanging behind your head. Despite that, the effect stuck with me the whole video :)
Wonderful images and a well prepared presentation. I found it very helpful. I'll be working on those techniques and settings this spring and summer. Thank You. Bart Carrig
Sound advice and great images Dave. Been out a few nights recently chasing the milky way and got a trip planned in just over a weeks time for a particular image. Hopefully the weather will be favourable
This was a very succinct video with nice specific tips for night photography. Thanks Dave; I also got so much from the workshop I took with you and am building on it.
I have watched a few of your videos and applaud your generosity in sharing your knowledge! I'm heading to Southern Utah this September and will be attempting my first night sky photography. Might try to practice a bit in my home state of Vermont. I shoot mainly black & white and am wondering what would be the main differences, if any.
Hey Dave thanks for the video and guide. I am not a night sky shooter much... In fact i have actually taken only 1 night's sky shot... and it was a few years back where my editing was bad and technique very poor over all... however - ever since then i am extremely fascinated by night's skies photography... With that being said, the question is : Those milky way shots at the beginning are single exposures or blends? I know that a lot of photographers like to stack many, many shots together...
Hi Dave - just wanted to let you know that the URL for Blue Marble on page 15 of your Photograph the Night ebook gives a 404 error. See I do check your stuff out :) Kathie
One thing I do is to put my hand in the frame between each series of photos. This way when I am in photoshop or light room, I have an easy to recognise each series.

Thanks for that! I'll check it out.
When you take multiple shots of one scene, how do keep track of which to use when stacking them in Photoshop?
