Baking soda cleans and deodorizes anything you can think of but if you need to add something to it, it's vinegar and stand back. Look out. But when it comes to that grease only the break cleaner and kitty litter will work. A break cleaner or something that doesn't dry too fast that's similar. BTW, don't throw out the kitty litter, you can keep it in a can or something and re-use it over and over again.
I've done this several times and it does work. First get the spot wet with water. Second put the baking soda in before the coke, and obviously add the coke after baking soda sits a few minutes. Oh and use a hose with a stronger spray. Money every time
Muriatic acid..a miracle... Clean. My whole garage floor clean. Deep car and truck oil.yrs. old. wear a mask..protect eyes. Use a long handled scrub brush. Pour the muratic cid burst across stain and watch..after 10 min .no stain..
You need to leave it on for a while like 30 minutes or longer before washing it out because you need the baking soda and soda time to pick up the grease if not definitely try vinegar rather than coke. Vinegar always does the trick for me of removing heavy grease from my pots and pans.
Use electrical cleaner spray. Spray it on the edge of the stain and quickly wipe with a clean rag. Then work your way across the oil stain a section at a time using a clean part of the rag every time. The oil will move move from the cement to the rag immediately. 100% will work
Try Brake Cleaner. Must be flammable. Not the non-chlorinated. Best at 70deg and not when is sunshine. Let it soak for 10-20 seconds and wipe with a strong and good absorptive paper towel.
Electrical cleaner spray: one example is OFF-LINE CONTACT CLEANER HD 415 by AERVOE IND , 15oz spray. Or any other spray that has Ethanol and Hexane - EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE. Some Brake Cleaner might be similar

I'm curious as to what happens if you soak it in dawn dish soap for a few days before rinsing it off just pure dish soap encase the oil spot and then leave it
It’s a simple solutions. Just try degreaser and Ariel clothing powder soap , brush deep clockwise several times let it sit for 5 to 10 min and rinse with water. It’s a plus if it’s hot water or cold with a pressure washer. If it’s deep oil stains , continue the process again till it’s clear. Home Depot has all these products. Also has a concrete oil stain removal.
The chemical reaction between baking soda and coke should create carbon dioxide, salt and some heat. This means you better off using only baking soda (an alkaloid) to try to clean the stain. Alternatively, TSP is a great product or scrubbing bubbles. If your driveway hasn't been sealed before, a strong acid (such as boric acid) will do the trick.
You need industrial grade cleaning agent and or degreaser to penetrate, break down, lift and remove the oil residue that sticks to whatever it comes in contact with. Oil is meant to lubricate so therefore it will hold onto its surroundings. The concrete is porous therefore it will attract and hold dirt and liquids. You must use industrial grade stuff like concrete cleaners and degreasers.
My husband use our Elseys cat litter to sbsorb all that oil. Leaves it for few hours, removes it. then spray the commercial degreaser leave it for couple hours, pour some hot water, scrub with a hard bristle brush or broom, rinse with hot water. You may need to repeat 2 or 3 times depending on the severity of the stain.
saturate the stain with cola cola if you notice the when you poured the soda the bubbly part is what actually lifted the stain so if you let the soda dye it wouldnt do anything try pouring the whole soda so the carbonation helps lift the stain
Not sure if Goop or another hand soap commonly used by mechanics' soap will spray off all stains after scrubbing, may need to let Goop sit for 5 minutes before scrubbing. It's about $5 for this product at almost any automotive store. This would be a quick fix but there may be cheaper solutions. A pressure washer will save you money in the long run if you are expecting to have more stains.
it works i just did it on my driveway. Wet the driveway first with water. The throw the baking soda down and then put the soda on top, NOOWWW scrub it. You did it backwards, you did soda first then backing soda and thats not how it works lol. Put the baking soda down first then the soda and you will see the reaction to baking soda and then you can scrub it really good. I used a drill with a wire brush and my driveway came out super clean
Drill with wire brush head sounds alot better then my wire brush by hand method! I use a product called simple green. Then i scrub, then i powerwash. Im gonna be doing this today. Yaaaaa me!
Did you end up finding a solution? Seems like folks are having the most luck with TSP. Also, for that oil leak. All you have to do is jack the truck up, take all 4 wheels off, then put a Toyota on them! Jk, but hope it worked out for you.
First you need to wet down with water, next pour a whole bottle of Coke and a large box of baking soda. Try it again - I have witnessed it in person and it does work.
I saw another video where they put Coca-Cola on it but they let it set for 10 minutes and then try to scrub it off. Also saw a video that use Dawn dishwashing soap with the Coca-Cola. I pray this works for you.
I tried a number of options including a degreaser. I ended up using Dawn dishwashing liquid. It took a few tries then at the end easy off oven cleaner.
I first use kitty litter and a grey brick to scrub the worst of it off the surface. Then I use toilet bowl cleaner with bleach or lye based oven cleaner DO NOT MIX BLEACH WITH OVEN CLEANER!!!. Scrub the solution into the stain with a wire brush. Let it sit for at least 1 hr, longer for more difficult stains. Then rinse.
You lay down oil dry, essentially cat litter. to get out a dried stain like that maybe Acetone and Dawn, purple power with not to mutch water in mix, let it sit then srub and hit it with a pressure washer
Tried this today on a fresh spill. I wiped up as much as I could, spread baking soda on it, and used tonic water because I don’t buy Coke. I gave it a good scrub and hosed it down. It looks great! The driveway is still wet, so I don’t know for sure, but it seems 90% gone. Thanks! Just another reason to buy Schweppes!

Why didn't you spread the Coca Cola with a brush to get into the driveway better? When I've seen it done before, the baking soda was spread all over the driveway stain, then the Coca cola was poured on it to let it bubble it out pores of the driveway concrete. And it did get out the oil stain. I've never seen it applied as you did it.
Ok i read 100 comments or so....and the winner is...The guys whos said to use the propane torch to cook it out!!!!This is the real fix!!! Keep trying with the dish soap😅
You did it wrong. You should mix the baking soda with Hydrogen peroxide to form a paste and apply the paste to the stain liberally, then let the paste dry for 24 hours, and finally scraped the paste off. It will definitely remove a lot of the stain
"Dawn Ultra" works well. Some scrubbing is involved, and at least 2 applications. Works for me every time. The hardest part is having the patience to let the soap sit and do its job overnight.
idk I have chemistry ideas I have been cleaning driveways only a bit: oil floats on water and so if I can get water under the oil....maybe by multiple applications that might get it....also soap fights with oil... thats why we wash our hands with soap to kill the oil membrane in nasty bacteria killing it dead:) I am guessing hot water and Dawn dish detergent or a degreaser are good. we always use a product like oilabzorb asap. we have used paint thinners to float the oil off the driveway too. "brush deep clockwise several times" - yeah because brushing anti-clockwise, or a mix of both, or back-and-forth, doesn't work lol?
Try it with the coke only. The acid is the active ingredient in the coke. Baking soda neutralizes the acid. Great experiment 👍
Coca cola is actually used to stain concrete.
I just pressure washed my driveway and still have oil stains from cars and that's why I'm here!!!

It’s concrete. Seal What
The oil absorbing products are for immediate spills and clean up, old stains need different products and methods.

this is something you do when your high... and have a laugh at the end
Brake cleaner and kitty litter.
TSP is a chemical that works. Would have to check internet where to get.
Use kitty litter and scrub it into the concrete with a brick. Sweep it up and rinse off the spot with water.
I think sequence was wrong 1)cover w/water 2)spread baking soda 3?then our soda....It does work i have done it
Simple way is to cut-out that oil area and replace with a tile and looks lovely.

Asphalt??by any chance
Either use Goof Off Concrete Cleaner or use break cleaner with cat litter. Afterwards, clean it off with Zep concrete cleaner.
Bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar. I use it to unblock sink.
