I love how he starts this with his mouth almost closed to send the sound up into his head before it releases; it creates the feel of a lone wolf crying at the moon at night. Later he opens that mouth and voice to send it to the heavens. And Gabriel playing. Fire!
I totally love the way Dan sings this. Have you ever heard a wolf out in the wilderness? Growing up living two miles away from the town of Old Valdez, Alaska, we heard wolves all the time--especially in the winter. They sing mournfully and beautifully, and usually once one begins, whole packs join in, and the song spills out over the whiteness. Plus...the EYES! This is what Dan is portraying so well, in this cover. Here's a link to a very special playlist at the Wolf Conservation Center... ruclips.net/video/QUK2z6bynlg/видео.html Thank you for another wonderful reaction. 😀
I have never heard a wolf out in the darkness, sadly. But I once had a Siberian Husky who would do those long mournful howls at sunrise. What a primitive sensation! The call of the wild! The thought of being in Alaska under the auroras with the sound of the wolves- breathtaking! So, I'm a 'haunter'- someone who goes crazy at Halloween time scaring the hell out of the local kids with homemade props and costumes. I would have a similar track from YT of wolves howling being pumped into the front yard for effect. Had to stop though, kids today are too dangerous. Glad you liked the reaction! ❤️❤️
I agree GGG. The way he keeps his mouth almost closed to send the sound into his sinuses before releasing it gives it that mournful feel. What artistry.
@@teresamerkel7161 EXACTLY! 😀 Interestingly, it's also what he does just a TINY bit of, at the very beginning of "Amazing Grace," when he's portraying the hesitant newcomer to God's grace. I heard SO many reactors, back last April, when the song hit the masses, say that Dan needed a bit more training to keep that nasality out of his voice. It only took one time through, for me to realize that Dan does what he does, for a REASON...every time. When he goes up into the second part of that song, SOME of the nasal sounds just disappear, as the symphony begins to play, and even though he was singing a cappella at first, he's PERFECTLY in tune with the orchestra, and I thought, "Hmmm..." Then I realized that he had also taken on just a bit of an operatic tone, and his posture had changed. It was at that point, that I got VERY interested in hearing the rest, and of course, I was totally not disappointed, and never have been, since then. When I heard THIS one, I was (and, yes, I'm giggling a bit as I say this)...totally "over the moon." 😅🤣😂🐺
I love this song!!❤❤ , it's so real!! One can hear the wolf. Dan makes everything come alive, he really is a musical genius. Glad you enjoyed it, thankyou😃
This song is another good example of Dan's control over his amazing instrument. It's such a wonderful haunting sound. And I always love to see and hear Gabriel. Thanks for playing this. If you do Priscilla's Song, please start with the (terrific) metal version, and then try the stripped-back version where he's just sitting and singing with only lute accompaniment. Both are beautiful in different ways. BTW, isn't it touching to hear how excited Dan sounded about arriving at 145 K subs? 😊Today, February 7, 2024, he's at 953 K. Thanks for your reaction!
@@GrandmasGotGraceLW Thanks. It works either way, but I feel it's better to do them in the order in which he recorded them. Plus that way the outros make more sense! Cheers from a fellow Dan fan. 🎶
Hauntingly beautiful... (OK that was the old lady in me)... Truly love this, Dan brings life to it.. conjures images in your head Dan and Gabriel together.. just awesome... Now I think you just have the 2 versions of Priscilla's song to go... both are so different but each is mind blowing.. yeah I know I sound like a Witcher Fan, But Dan draws you into this web with that voice.. Thank you for another amazing reaction
It was my pleasure! I totally agree it has that sound and feel, my wife said the same thing... and also, she said it might well be her favorite so far from Dan... and that says a lot because she loves him!!! As I do as well.... thank you for your comment, much love to ya 🤘❤️🤘
This cover doesn't get enough love, imho. The epicness is off the charts! I'd rate it up there with Burn Butcher Burn & Toss a Coin to Your Witcher, and maybe even a smidge or two above those ...I really do love Burn Butcher Burn too.
This ist the first song I've ever heard of Dan, got me hooked instantly. Just yesterday I rewatched the episode of the Witcher where this song is played, Dan adds a lot to it. I just love his rendition. I understand the monetisation problem with YT, but I hope you keep Ayreon here on the channel. Speaking of Ayreon, the first video from the last show Live Beneath the Waves is out (ruclips.net/video/HAJ0zTMLClQ/видео.htmlsi=l25wreOJJednQp5t). Arjen also has a new project called Plan Nine, their very first video is out (ruclips.net/video/2l0-yHau5QY/видео.htmlsi=QPy5uFB_Fp2FE5yE). Both albums will be relased in May. I think you'll enjoy them a lot.
❤ love the way he presents this song.... love his take on it much better than the original.... ❤ Thank you for your reaction to this... our Dan is one awesomely fantastic, singer... and everything he touches turns to gold 😁❤
I call this the “baby Dan” period! Great song. Are you aware Dan has hit one million subscribers? So happy for him! Wish you every good thing, too, Bill! We are in the same age-cohort, I think (I ’m 75) -
Awwwww Baby Dan! Yes, I just heard that he hit 1 mill! That's so awesome! I very happy for him and hope to see him hit 2 million. Yeah, I'm 55. The grey in the beard adds about 10 years 😁Thank you so much, my friend! Wishing you all the best! (and have an EPIC day!) 🤘❤️🤘
YT seems to be using the social credit score, by deducting from the content creator of the videos we users do a quick search through with, looking for that quote or song or whatever it is we search quickly for. It sucks!! Especially when we're just checking in ro see if we've listened to the "this" one yet. YT should be handing out bonuses, not deducting.
I bought the score to the first season of "The Witcher" a few days after it dropped, and I basically have the whole thing memorized. This is the final song on the score, and I thought I loved that version... Until I heard Dan's version... No comparison. None.
That intro is shills every time. Have you done his cover of Son of Pain, Bill? That's more than shills! P.s. Gabriel has his own channel. It's mostly metal covers of anime songs.
I love how he starts this with his mouth almost closed to send the sound up into his head before it releases; it creates the feel of a lone wolf crying at the moon at night. Later he opens that mouth and voice to send it to the heavens. And Gabriel playing. Fire!
Absolutely right! I love it SO much! 😀
DAN VASC fantástico demais!
Um completo Show ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Dan layers his own harmony in most of his songs. He sounds freaking amazing!
Thanks for reacting to this - one of my absolute favorites of Dan - this song is not getting anywhere near the attention it deserves, so thanks again.
His harmonies are fantastic, love this rendition of the song 🎙️🎙️
They truly are! Thank you for hanging with me!
I love this song!!❤❤ , it's so real!! One can hear the wolf. Dan makes everything come alive, he really is a musical genius. Glad you enjoyed it, thankyou😃
YES! 😀
Sounded like he was singing a full Octave higher in those layered harmonies. Cool!😊
Yeah, I believe he was in a few spots. EPIC!!! 🤘❤️🤘
Love it❣️Thanks😀👍

Dan is just a Genius!!!
I agree about which one to do first. It just "feels" right to me, that way. I watch both of them, often, and in that order. 😀

Isn’t in one of his Pricilla’s song that you can see one of his dogs in the background? 😊
I love this! Thanks for reacting! This sounds like Gregorian chant.
It does have a bit of that sound, doesn't it? Very interesting!

my favorite Dan song

You know when Dan grabs the mic that the power is about to hit you. He is soooo awesome and love the guitar.

So hauntingly beautiful! I cherish this song by Dan.
Great reaction, Bill!!
Me too...cherishing it. 😀
I am so very proud to belong to the Vasc Nation.
Awesome , that is my Dan , great job , nothing but amazing.
Thank you! 🤘❤️🤘

Agreed!
Grat reaction. Liked the sounds in this one
I'm quite sure Dan Vasc could sing the alphabet and it would be amazing!!
He could metalize the alphabet, no doubt!!

No I haven't my friend, I think I must!! I'll check out Gabriel's channel too! Thank you!
I'm glad I gave this song a chance. For me, long drawn out words and instruments loud over the words makes it hard to listen to most of the time.
