Best Mouse Trap - Best Bait

- The Victor metal pedal mouse trap is still the most effective and cheapest mouse trap on the market. With the trap properly baited this trap can be used over and over. For myself, dog food has proven to be the most effective bait in catching mice.

Glueing dog kibble to the trap... that's genius. Thanks dude
Thanks for the tip! I set two using your advice and caught 2 in the first hour or so. Had used peanut butter before and while it works have too often found the trap with the bait eaten but no mouse. Either a smart rodent or roaches, but now I have a way to catch mice that actually works.
This works brilliant....I use hard candy sweets know as M&Ms here in the UK... I use the old fashioned Littler Nipper traps without the plastic paddles...I heat a small pin, and melt a hole in the M&M to fit over the bait holder spike on the trap, and then super glue it in place...if you want to freshen up the bait a bit, paint the M+M with soft peanut butter, chicken fat, ketch-up ect...Another tip is if you are using the old style traps where it is set by placing the tip of the retaining bar (?) under a wire staple, use a junior hacksaw to put some shallow grooves/striations on the end of the bar where it touches the staple. This provides a little extra friction between the two parts so the trap can be set very fine, but avoids many of the false triggers....lastly it's a good idea to a attach a foot or so of string to traps so they can be tethered...That way if you catch a rat, it won't drag the trap off and die some where unseen, only to stink the place out as it rots....
Yes!!! I just wanted to come on here and say this really work! I set a trap 🪤 earlier today and the mice fell for it tonight!! Thanks for posting this video!!😊
Trying it out tonight thanks for the honesty!
Thank you! Trying this out today!!!
Thank you for posting this helpful video!
Great tip! Thanks!
Great tips, thanks!
I used kibble too, but didn't think to glue it on! Thank you!!!
Genius! I've been trying to get rid of the mice in my garage by feeding them peanut butter off of my traps in the hopes that they will die of coronary artery disease. This definitely looks faster.
Lol
Okay that was funny
😂☠️
I got desperate - snap traps wouldn't go off, electric trap short-circuited, they wouldn't walk on glue traps, and they refused to eat bait blocks (poison). Had some fleeting success with wrapping string around the bait paddle & coating it in peanut butter - the string caught in their teeth and amplified movement to get the trap to go off properly. I tried wedging a small piece of a Snickers bar in the hole on the bait paddle, but my mice just don't seem to be interested in anything chocolate.
I settled on lacing the peanut butter I've been using as bait with Drano (harshest household chemical I could think of), but I can't tell if it's working yet. I'm going to try gluing various baits like this video shows, but given the failure with the Snickers bar, I doubt it'll work.
Saw this method on another channel and it Does work! In my case I was dealing with field mice(size between rat&mouse) I believe this one was mature as the various cave traps I tried were too much effort& hid bait scent. I used a dab of gorilla glue with half dime size granola bar within 24hrs caught.
**make sure the placement of trap is against wall with trap side against wall that way the bait is isolated and prevents mice from setting off trap from other side.
Thanks dude!
Trying tonight!! Thank you
Great idea
I never heard of this. Going to try tonight.
Gonna try this! Thanks!!!
Good Luck!
Thank you 🙏
Thanks, I'm gonna give it a try. I tried just about everything with no luck. It's like living in a Tom and Jerry Cartoon movie. You can't catch them.
Let me suggest... that setting up the typical Victor mouse trap in a hard to reach place, such as way back under a sink, to set it on paper plate... then place it all in that hard to reach place. No more stringing fingers!
GENIUS! THIS WORKS!
Great idea. Simple yet effective. They kept cleaning me of my peanut butter. Not anymore!
I bought some spray cheese and a little more pricey but they can pull ral cheese off, the spray cheese is sort of like gluing it to the yellow tab. Best part, mouse sniffed the cheese and his nose set it off, reset same cheese on their now. Waiting on number two.
Ive had good luck with putting trap on a bunched up towel or old t shirt...puts them on unlevel footing and seems to work good
Brilliant.
Nice tip I should try it
This video is really helpful!!
I've been dealing with those critters for weeks!! I can hear them in my kitchen as I'm typing this. Lol.
Thanx for the rock on video!!!
Excellent
LOL, the words of a warrior - "...now I just keep it here permanently." As will I sir, once my battle is complete...as will I.
You are my hero
Some of mine won't set without using the other slot making it stand almost straight up.
I've used a little bit of peanut butter and a bit of steel wool shavings, even if they get the peanut butter, the steel wool will be bad on they're guts.
The bait that tomcat, etc sells is also great. works for many many kills.
Also, make sure the trigger rod is on the right side of the slot, thats the sensitive. Also, place the trap perpendicular to the wall.
Is that the squeeze bottle thing?
Genius
I have a field mouse (not sure the type) in our house. I put some circle traps nothing worked so far. Going to try this
Did it work? I have a field mouse too, I set up a motion camera & just see one. He walks around the traps. Sniffs them & walks away😔
@@Angelskris333 me too I will try this to tmr hopefully it works
wear gloves when handling bait and trap. Granola bar is best.
Yes the el cheapo wooden traps shown work wonders. The more expensive plastic ones I tried were 2 for 3.97 and one didnt operate so I had to toss it. I just bought 4 more because I ran out @ 2 for 2.79 at Home Depot but everyone has them.
Now I placed mine right by the hole where they ran to and from a tip I read ( one that actually works) I put a small slice of apple in the metal claw. Worked like a charm. I may have gotten rid of my problem because I'm not catching any more and I was getting one hours after setting the trap, usually closer to dusk but not always. They flat out love apples.
Gum, peanut butter, other things no dice but apples, works great
You say about and mouse like someone from either Canada or certain places in Virginia. Are you ? I've had success with setting that trap with the yellow bait shelf like you have, and it works well. Also a " Mice Cube " works well for someone who doesn't want to touch the mouse, or doesn't actually want to kill it. For bait, use 1/2 of a Lay's peanut butter cracker (the 1/2 that the peanut butter sticks to) and slide it down to the other end of the "cube". Works like a charm !!
You're right! I'm from Canada :)
This is exactly how I set my traps, all with dog food. haha
Can you use super glue
Does this bait work for rats in rat traps?
I thought you were Canadian by your accent, then I saw the hockey stick!
I placed a glue trap in their frequent place and it's not working
I use a walnut tied on with dental floss.
Can you write what the thing you put in trap please
It's a dry dog food kibble.
So.... did the prairie dog make it out?
Lol, it did. I ended up trapping it later. Here in Southern Alberta they are everywhere.
Why not use a piece of iron with thorns to replace the iron wire?
Because you're not trying to teach the mouse a lesson
Can u give the name of the bait please I heard dog but the other worg is not clear
kibble? I think it's some form of animal feed.

not any more that yellow thing either won't hold or holds too good , the old style was best
@Pros DIY - Unfortunate now my dogs keep steeling the bait and tripping the trap.
These traps are so sensitive, the breath from a mouse yawning will set them off.
Totally. I don't know why they even still sell snap traps with those stupidly ineffective bait pans. It's almost like they're laying down the gauntlet and saying "there's no just doing it, you will learn to catch mice". 🤣
i like the idea but not everyone has a glue gun
Thin layer or seed/nut butter works same as glue. I toss mice out back, resident possum eats them.
Not sure what's worse, throwing dead mice in your yard or knowingly luring opposum into your yard. None of my business, I know....
@@mygt8a4reThe opposum & racoons are there no matter what so not luring anything. Not randomly tossing out, not tempting the coyote.
@jennifercline6866 your back yard, enjoy! 😊
I would also like to be friends
I don't know brother, I'm kinda of a big deal. Lol I guess so 😁
Rat Addict
Good if you don't have a cat or dog around.
Yea but super glue absolutely has a scent to it.
So do all the materials used to make the trap. In most cases, the mouse doesn't care about anything but the food, just like your garbage can.
1:15 - How to set up mouse trap.
Sorry, NYC mice are smarter than the average mouse; the older guys that have been around won't go for snap traps, sticky trays or anything that has been used previously; I'm amazed how smart they are. I caught a lot of babies, as sad as that was.
Grant from Ghost hunters??
Works but 1 mouse at a time takes forever to get rid of mice
There's no rule to only set 1 trap at a time. Buy a bunch of them and set them all around
Have a vid that proves this?
Bingo 😂😂😂😂
Totally humane solution that works to deter mice and rats from entering... peppermint & cinnamon oil but has to be the right variety. This one works great and available on Amazon. Lazy Cat Rodent Repellent
Would grab my RUGER pellet rifle and have fun!!!! 😁
