Every time I read this section of the book of Mormon, it takes me back to when I was an active Firefighter and the times I found myself working a fire in total blackout because of smoke so thick that I could not see my hand in front of my face usually on my hands and knees. It seemed that the loss of light and sight increased the other senses, ie: hearing and direction of heat and sounds. As you so adequately stated the situation the people were thrust into total darkness unable to see one another or anything around them for three days. These people had to rely on senses they probably never experienced before. To live in this environment for three days and three nights would have been unimaginable and enough to turn anybody's survival instincts toward God.
Roll On Brother!! I was thinking about this too!! The conditions inside a working structure are quite similar to what I experienced as a kid when Mount Saint Helens blew up in Washington state. Smoke and ash choked everything for several days. And just like the Atonement, after the clouds cleared, and the rains washed everything clean, new growth sprang forth and regrew better, greener and stronger; same as we can blossom and grow after entering into covenants with the Savior.
The slideshow at the end, make me want Jesus to come back so soon. I cannot wait. Thank you, Taylor and Tyler for your testimonies. It helps uplift my life.
Loved the slide presentation at the end! Those faces and emotions spoke volumes 😢😮😊 To picture ourselves in that day, which surely will come, is to open us to revelation and a deeper relationship with our Lord!
Interesting parallel: What the Lord did with the cities in their destruction (quake, burn), He also caused the more righteous' hearts to quake and burn, but in a good way. Love the Book of Mormon! So many analogies and parallels due to its simplicities in teaching the gospel, helping us to learn about our Father in Heaven, Jesus Christ, and Their Plan of Happiness for us!
I loved hearing both of you bear your testimonies. I am grateful for these lessons, which always help me focus on my Saviour and make me come closer to Him. Thank you.
Thank you for another wonderful and insightful lesson for all of us. This lesson touched me so deeply and I a sinner needs to repent so much more for all the wrongs I have committed and do commit each day in my imperfect life that I try to strive to do better and then Satan enters to try and destroy my goodness down to his imperfect level. I want to be more like the Savior and you have instilled this in me once again. Bless you both for your time and sacrifice to teach us imperfect people. The Gospel is TRUE!!!! ❤😘
I have been in your shoes and can promise you that the day will come when Satan's influence becomes less and less while the Savior's influence becomes stronger and stronger. You are doing the right thing by choosing these podcasts to help with your personal study of the scriptures. That is what helped me, along with praying often with a broken heart over my sins. I have come to know that our Lord loves us personally, beyond our capacity to know, and aids us as we move closer to Him. Trust in Him and believe you are on the right path.

I thought of this question years back: how did Samuel the Lamanite know that the rocks below the surface of the earth were in 'one solid mass'? We see the broken-up stones all over here in Virginia, as well as many other states. The wonders of architecture built by the Nephites is manifest, so I'm guessing they had been digging quarries for a long time!

I am not usually one to complain about anything the Church produces, but the video portrayal of Christ for this lesson has bothered me for a while. Especially the 'frilly' dress robe that he wears. Not sure who conceived of that, and maybe it has some significance,. I feel is distracts from His divinity and masculinity. And, of course, his interaction with the crowd of people. Thankfully, it is the scriptures themselves we are asked to focus on, and their impact in how we live our lives.
