  • Been a while getting this together!
    Just finished the new truck, took about a year and was a frustrating process. I hope you enjoy this light Garbage load, will upload Recycling and Greens later.
    I hope you like the new truck and notice the improvements over the last one. I will also upload a video of some progress photos that haven't been seen before and some photos that were invaluable when building this, as well as some welding footage I took.
    All of the welding, fabrication, wiring, painting and programming was done by me. Building these trucks has taught me so much, mostly what not to do and what to think about more before attempting.
    The video also features my new mini bins, being the new Brickwood and Mastec style bins shown near the start.
    Enjoy, Cheers!

    As a kid I always had dreams of having a little RC garbage truck sort of thing and thinking how cool it would be to have a mini garbage truck
    The fact that someone else clearly had this idea and had the practical skills to actually make it is great I hope you eventually make all sorts of different types of trucks maybe even a spak at some point who knows
    Anyway keep it up this your work is legendary

    I want one so bad, and I love the progress you have made with making the garbage trucks and creating your own 3d printed bins and I think you should start up a series of where you make your own mini collection service with garbage green waste and recycling with both of your trucks such as greens and garbage on week and recycle and garbage the next

    Wow this model has come a long way since the last video 3 months ago. Love the attention to detail. Your 3D printed bins of the different sizes really have come together well. And the electronics on the grabber works very well. Love the attention to detail on truck too; puts my 3D printed models to shame. Man this is most amazing model I have seen yet. I have always been so jealous about America being the only ones to make garbage truck models, for a long time I wanted something like this that actually has an arm on it fucking left side for once. Now I know Australia does models like locomotives and I myself have one in my possession of an steam locomotive, but in the back of my mind I just needed something like this. I like the detail you put into this one but if any sort of feedback would be from me is possibly adding more detail to the cab such as proportioning the grills, but your not at all far from it, in fact this is quite the spectacle you have built.

    I thoroughly love your attention to detail.
    I have two questions:
    • is it possible to slow the electronics down to give an even more realistic touch?
    • Have you consider making and selling these as working models for those passionate about garbage trucks?

    • @TassieGarbo
      @TassieGarbo  8 месяцев назад +1

      Cheers mate! Means a lot from you!
      Yes, theoretically it should be. At the end of last year when I started making this truck one of the goals was to slow the arm down and increase the controllability, as this truck doesn't operate like a Bucher etc., as the joystick acts as a potentiometer to map the arm to a specific position rather than just up of down at a certain speed. Therefore the joystick has to be held in position to keep the arm halfway up. These motors are servo motors which are fairly weak and difficult to control, so I was going to use stepper motors which would allow the truck to be controlled like a Bucher etc. and would slow the arm speed, but I'm not very good at programming so I could not figure it out, however if I was to figure it out I think I would implement it to this truck.
      I definatley want to, but they take a long time to make. I considered reducing features or making just the arm/body/subframe, but I'm not sure - but to answer your question at some point in the future hopefully.
      Thanks for the comment mate - cheers!
      Also, your video of the whithorse GenVs when they were new was very helpful when making the grabber. 😊

    Now you’ve done this, I’ve toyed with the idea to have a crack at making a JJRE sideloader, due my obsession with their massive older 35m units. I’ve thought about it being a lot easier to control the arm speed operation using linear actuators (more expensive than servos😬), however the amount of pivots/linkages in the setup of their lifters adds to the challenge. kinda hard to find the time for a hobby like this when you drive them for 50-60 hours a week. Love the work mate, it’s an absolute tease with the infrequent updates/videos on but it’s understandable with a work in progress. Wouldn’t happen to be able to share what 3d printer setup you’ve got going on?

    The local waste stream gets wooden objects in it occasionally over here. The garbage truck doesn't care, it just compacts it all. What size and grade of wood do you reckon the compactor would safely handle? The real life compactor doesn't care what kind of wood it is, it just busts it apart with several thousand pounds of hydraulic pressure per square inch. Another thing we get a lot of in the waste streams here is styrofoam, the lightweight white molded variety that TV's and most electronic goods are packaged in. Would be interesting to see what scaled down diameter would fit in the hopper.

    • @TassieGarbo
      @TassieGarbo  8 месяцев назад +1

      Cheers mate, I reckon this is about the limit of it haha, these motors are pretty weak when running at lower rpm like the packer one does. It would, I'll have to cut up some small bits of it!

    • @DarkVoidIII
      @DarkVoidIII 8 месяцев назад

      @@TassieGarboWith motors for the purpose you're using them for, you need to look at what gives the best torque. More torque will mean better compaction. Scaled down to the model of course. 😀
