Stay warm friends. It sure is rough when you’re not used to these temps. You’re all doing a great job handling it. Haha Sean and Gus are so fun! Great video. Chores in the cold are rough
We appreciate your encouragement. The wind is what makes it brutal. We have some snow and ice coming Wed/Thurs so getting ready for that. Trusting in God's provision as always. Praying yall are staying warm too.
The chickens all seem content. I’ve seen some homesteaders using slow cookers from thrift stores as water containers for chickens and other birds and animals!
Love to see the 13 fluffy butts on the roosting bars 🥹. How exciting for you! Chickens are wonderful. I assume you would need cold hardy breeds so I checked with friends of ours in Novia Scotia and Saskatchewan. They recommended getting chickens with large bodies and short combs. Breeds like Orpingtons and Brahmas are at the top of the list. Our friends in Nova Scotia are very happy with their Rhode Island Reds, Golden Comets, and Ameraucanas.

Staying warm for sure. We have a wintry mix coming on Thursday/Friday, so that will be a test for us.

That is such a great idea! Thank you for sharing that!
All 13 chickens are accounted for. We are getting our first 6 layers in the spring. We are in Newfoundland. What breed should we get?
