- Hobie iTrek 11. First look and setup.
These are hard to find atm - everyone has supply chain issues etc, which is understandable.
I purchased mine as a 'NQR', not quite right, from a local Hobie dealer in Mornington, Victoria. $500 off retail, for 'cosmetic' marks on the outer shell. I'll take that deal any day, when it's still backed by Hobie warranty. Let's face it - will get plenty more marks on it over time.
Thank you 'SLH' - SL Hobie, Mornington for the supply, and prompt shipping.
Engel Live Bait 30 Qt Cooler with Rod Holders for the rear. Use either as a live well, catch storage or dry box for gear and has four rod holders....
Thank you for the suggestion. I've got a cooler I've rigged up with rod holders that I used on my jetski. Going to see if that fits first, to recycle it.
Nice just some advice is that try not to overthink your set-up and try and make it as simplistic as you can so it cuts down the time to set up and pack away. I make this mistake all the time with my kayak
Yes, great point and thanks. The more junk, the more time consuming and the less enjoyable.
Congrats bro.
Thank you so much
Nice one hodgey, enjoy 👌
Thanks 👍
Hey mate, Fellow Aussie here! Its been a year since this video - just wanted to see your thoughts on the yak after a year. I've just personally come across it and am very interested in buying one. Cheers
Hey mate. I've really only used it a couple of times for various reasons but those couple of times it went great. If you happen to be Melb based we could work out a deal (I've got myself a fishing jetski now).
@@andyh5666 I'm Sydney based unfortunately.. the jet ski would be my ultimate, but don't think the wife would approve haha
Need demonstration on how to repack all back into bag all of those things after your time out. Looks impossible to get all of that back into bag
The Mirage drive and other accessories I first showed came in a seperate box with just the seat and the kayak itself packed into the bag. I'm not sure if the drive is intended to fit in as well. I notice Hobie sell a seperate shoulder bag for the drive.
The bag is big.
It's a big kayak, haha. Fits in a small car though.
I have one question though, why do say I can't take it out for months?
A licence issue - don't ask me..lol
@@andyh5666 you'll have to ask the authorities to analize the situation a bit more closely lol... . Being your such a distinguished gentleman
@@andyh5666 Do you still have your waverunner?
Can you fit a sun shade on this kayak?
Good question. I know Hobie sell a 'bimini' for some models but I'm assuming not this one. Might have to be a home-made job.
I saw the Bimini on the itrek 9 ultralight on another Utube channel. Given that they look like a similar boat, I thought maybe it would fit on here too. I have been looking to buy one of these, but can’t decide which one.
Good one, I'll do a bit of research too. The bimini would be handy for here, Australia's hot summers. I think the iTrek range is so relatively new that accessories are still planned/coming out.
It doesn’t have reverse
Yes, agree. I mentioned that in the video. Comes with standard forward only Mirage Drive. It could be swapped out (read - purchased) for the '180' drive, as I understand it - giving you reverse. But for my style of fishing, in open waters, I don't think that will be neccessary - famous last words, haha, before I've had a chance to use in anger..
You will be fine, but suggest you keep handy a short single blade paddle for quick maneuvering when needed. Easier than hauling out the double blade every time you need to back up a bit.
LOUSY VIDEO......more than 10 minutes of the video, 5 minutes is a waste of time.
Appreciate your feedback, thanks. We can all do better 😀
