    I am the fifth generation of a family that has been carrying on the tradition of Japanese cloisonne enamel art for generations, since 1883. It's all very interesting!

    I wonder why the art has a French name even though it probably comes from a time where the French language didn’t even exist in its modern form

    • @fuchsfarben
      @fuchsfarben 2 года назад +1

      As far as I can remember, the technique does originate in France and was brought over to China were it got very popular with the rich folk. While it died down and vanished in France the Chinese held onto the technique and developed it further,hence it's name :)

      @@waterunderthebridge7950 I think the video was called "The making of cloisonné" where you watch and follow workers in a Chinese cloisonné factory around for a day. Though to be fair, it has been some time since I watched it so maybe I mixed some things up :')

      @@moonstrike999armedrabbit4 but how to stick this wire

    • @moonstrike999armedrabbit4
      @moonstrike999armedrabbit4 3 года назад +2

      @@monaandfareed4036 use any jewelry glue. It has to be a clear color and quick dry for metal. However; resin acts like a glue already. You can coat the surface with resin after wire frame is made and set under uv light until dry. Resin hardens under light so be attentive and quick. Plus make sure the wires are pressed firmly on surface; otherwise, the frame will leak colors into each other. ALSO USE A peel-able surface for nonbevel products (like pendants) silicone mats, parchment, or packaging tape (most efficient but low on surface area).

    • @AliceOnTheTube
      @AliceOnTheTube 4 года назад +13

      @Anomic Anchorite This isn't actual enamel, friend. It's colored sand, which is then coated with resin. Those "cloisonne phone case" videos are similar. You think they kiln fire a plastic phone case?
      But more to the point, your reply to Becky makes you sound like an insufferable know-it-all. Your regurgitation of enamel process is wildly irrelevant to Becky's absolutely correct statement that this is sand painting.
      One of the best ways to genuinely be a know-it-all is to keep your mind constantly open to the fact that you might not know what something is. That's the only way to learn.
