The number #1 reason so many people are playing this game is you can express yourself with almost no boundries, people made animated videos, cinematic backgrounds, artistic pieces, whole levels telling stories, whole GAMES, recreations of famous games etc. etc. and on top of that you can play any one of them if you want (excluding more difficult levels for most of average players due to skill issue)
I've been playing Geometry Dash since February 2014 and I still think it's that good. Once you get into the user created level side of things, it just has endless amounts of creativity to offer.

Take a look at documentaries of top play, maybe a history of top play over the years and you'll see the absurd dedication this community has. For example, probably the most popular one as of now, Doggie with Grief, or Xtra8nuggies with Angelicide. Or looking back into history, Riot. Even looking into cheaters like Cyclic or SpaceUK! The game's history is amazing, especially for new people looking in from the outside. I just hope the community is nice to you, as they aren't always the best with newcomers, but I believe.
