- We’re digging a new mouth for the Don River in the Port Lands. It was easier and safer to excavate the new river valley without any water in it. As we get ready to flood the newly constructed river, let’s go for an imaginary paddle before any water is added.

Fantastic, so looking forward to paddling my canoe on the “new” Don River! Can’t wait.
Perfect! Thanks for posting, it is great to see this "before" video, well done!
I love the engineering behind the buried tree trunks, exposed roots to help stabilize the river banks.
Directly opposite Toronto, across Lake Ontario, in the Town of Lincoln, we lost almost a thousand feet of public beach because of the removal for the fallen trees and trunks from the shoreline.
This was done to allow shoreline work on private property, access for heavy equipment.
Within 3 years 75% of the public beach was washed away, booooo!
Amazing project! This combined with The Meadoway will take Toronto's park system to the next level
What an amazing project. The whole area is set for a remarkable transformation.
I am sooooo looking forward to enjoying this new park!
Can't wait to see this river reconstruction completed, really enjoyed seeing the construction of the river basin prior to completion.
Amazing project. Such wonderful storytelling to pass on to the next generation of explorers and dreamers.
This is a great video, I can't wait to see the downtown core from a canoe! Thanks Waterfront Toronto
Thank you Waterfront Toronto for all your videos and for this great project.
Absolutely love these videos! Thanks for keeping us informed. Clearly prepared and delivered with care.
Excited for this! 🐟 🦆 🌱
Thank you for sharing.
Doug Ford has announced the province is putting 500 million into a giant ferris wheel and beer gardens and spa in the Port Lands.
so cool
I wish they would knock down the unused smokestacks etc and plant some trees to help block the view of the industrial structures that remain.
Is it a drone shot?
It looks like we are headed downstream but I'm not entirely sure
This video is travelling upstream - from inside the Polson Slip towards the Keating Channel.
The only problem I can see with this park system is that the whole city will flood to use it (see what I did there? ).
😂😂
Haha
Haha . I bet they can't wait .they better keep it clean 🫧
Of course, this “city within a park” doesn’t have all that many parks you can walk though. This opens a huge part of the waterfront. Not only for residents, but tourists too. Can only imagine all the wildlife and migratory birds flooding this area too, it’s awesome
I'm not sure where we started and where we're going in this video. South toward the lake?? I can't get my bearings. Otherwise I think it will be wonderful
I believe we travelled from west to east, beginning just past the south Cherry St. bridge. At the end, we turned to face north, stopping just before Commissioners St. bridge.
I hope they clean up the debris and construction materials from the river bed before it's flooded.
This video was taken in the fall while work was still ongoing on the riverbed. After work was completed (and materials removed) we started flooding the river on January 31.
I'm curious how the water once released made its way under Villiers Street@@WaterfrontToronto We've been down there a few times since the release started & again today (Feb 18th) and it appeared to be blocked under there. So we've yet to figure it out. Did you create a dam of sorts under the road?
And how much is this costing the taxpayers? I was part of the first phase of pouring concrete, and it took twice as long as it should have. Which cost taxpayers twice as much. Anytime the government has their hands on, anything costs more money.
