Why Study Mouse Lemurs?

  • Like humans, mouse lemurs sometimes develop amyloid brain plaques and other Alzheimer's-like symptoms as they age. Because mouse lemurs are primates, they are a closer genetic match to humans than mice or rats are. The Duke Lemur Center's non-invasive research on these tiny primate cousins could help explain the initial stages of Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases. The Duke team hopes their research will help identify people at risk sooner, before they develop symptoms, or point to new ways to delay onset or slow progression of the disease. These adorable little beings have emotional feelings along with the ability to feel pain. There are plenty of humans you can pay to experiment on instead of using an innocent animal.

some things you dont want to do to a human even if they are willing to do it for money

It's noted to be non-invasive research; the lemurs are not harmed, just allowed to age naturally and scanned. Also, human experimentation isn't practical unless you want to wait multiple centuries.

Please grow millions, even billions, of these little things so we can use them for scientific experiments to prolong our own lives.
