The second installment in the Lost Treasures series released on Guardian Angel.
My tracklists do not correspond with those of the CD release, but rather the releases of each individual track. Each tracklist has been thoroughly reconstructed by me, to obtain the utmost accuracy. I have paid attention to the finest of details (e.g. Remix vs. Mix) and even still, I continually come across inconsistencies within my own music library. I find it fascinating to navigate the sea of releases for the distinct original presentation of each track, such that I may experience it in the manner that it was presented at the time of its inception. Enjoy!
Concerning track 5 of this compilation, I thought it was important to note the following information:
According to Discogs User kompressorkanonen:
"However, the backbone of "Quantum Leap" is the simple, but heart-stopping melody which appears later in the track. And this is where the plagiarism gets seriously blatant, as the melody is in fact lifted straight from an album entitled "The Search Begins" which was produced by Italian artist Alex Silvi under the name Alien Signal and released on Upland Records in 1993. To make matters worse, the track where the melody originally appeared is called "Quantum Limit", and this track is called "Quantum Leap"... but Silvi's name is not mentioned anywhere on this release. I own the Alien Signal album but wasn't able to put my finger on where the melody came from until a fellow discogs member told me.
"Quantum Leap" would later be reissued on a Belgian label, and was picked up by DJ Tiësto for one of his compilations. The fact that the EXPerimental release is much more dancefloor-friendly and has a lot more punch than Silvi's original track explains why it was the one that ended up in the DJ's bags, and to be fair, Ray Love did a good job with this "unauthorized remix" - but theft is theft, and in this case, it's so obvious that the recent (2005) CiM vs. Black Dog episode, for example, pales in comparison.
A great record - but still a ripoff."
Additionally, as posted by Discogs user frulas:
"This old school trance gem was way too short in it's original version, so it's good that someone remixed the track, and made it longer and more dj-friendly, but hey, they had to pay some respect to the original producer. I spoke to Alex Silvi on this matter, and he said that he knew about it since the beginning, but he couldn't do anything, because the guy who sampled the track just disappeared."
These files were ripped from the CD to FLAC (uncompressed) via dBpoweramp.
