Peter Slattery I think he was suggesting that Ireland is such an awful place that millions of people have felt compelled to escape it, including himself. To be fair though, I was told this probably 12 years ago, and by a 60 year-old Irishman who immigrated in the 1980's. His concept of Ireland was during a time when Ireland was impoverished and kind of stagnant. He missed the booming period where Ireland started doing really well in the 90's. His "Ireland" was like Angela Ashes, Jim Sheridans' Ireland, not the modern Ireland.

The issue was she was not funny. The crowd only got rowdy because we were not laughing and yes people started chatting amongst themselves as they were bored. Her reaction was to blame us for not finding her funny. At no stage in this video does she admit or even thinks this might be the reason. I hope she has gotten better at stand up since then (It was a few years ago this happen.)

I'm Irish and I think Jen is a fantastic comedian. I really love her stuff. I've been to a few comedy gigs in Ireland where the comedian had to lose it with members of the audiance because of their behaviour. The same problem as Jen had. They also should've just left if they wanted to sit and talk, but they were drunk and didn't have any respect for those around them.
