I never bother with these, since my scrapyard no longer takes CRTs--I just cut the cord off (same with most vacuums and dehumidifiers)

I hear you... the ability to sell your stuff makes us all do things different. Thanks for watching.

OMG...dont do this!!!...atleast not the way this guys did....CRT will hold a large charge that CAN kill you....discharge the CRT tube and caps FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Color monitors and especially tv sets can hold a deadly charge on that wire to the tube! Attach a wire to the chassis and tape the other end to a long stick and short out the tube. Most have a dropping resistor but some don't and the arc you draw will get your attention. The tube itself can build a charge sitting by itself in dry weather if left unshorted. You can disarm a tube for good by breaking the little tit found in the middle of the plug on the back of the tube. No vacuum, no danger... Black and whites hold a much lower voltage and probably won't kill you.

When I first started I thought it was a good idea to acquire a bunch of free TV's from marketplace and get this copper out. Ended up being way too much stuff to throw away. A few good snibbits in there.

@@thescrapmeister Oh wow. I can't imagine! Was he able to dispose of the "waste" after you were done? That's a lot of tubes and plastic.

Have you ever thought about getting a wire stripper? I have a friend that got one and he gets a lot more money just for the wire.

I do have one back in the corner... I just don't get a lot of strippable wire. Thanks for checking in my friend!
