  • In this video, I go over the features of my 1984 Honda Shadow VT500C. I purchased this bike from a co worker and it needed a lot of work. I hope that you enjoy this video. Please like, share, and subscribe. Stay safe.

Actually you saved the 500cc from ending up at the dump yard. 28000mls however is a seductive invitation to give it one (or several) more tries. Excellent job and starts perfectly signalling: Ready! Let's hit the road and chew some miles 😊

please correct me if I'm wrong...but that looks like an 83 shadow. I have both an 83 and 84 - both 500s. The telltale is the headlight - square on the 83 and round on the 84. Fuse cover on the handlebar clamp is also a telltale for the 83. Different tanks as well. 84 has a rounder look to it. 83 has the chrome front fender.

I checked it again this morning to make sure. It is an 84 Honda Shadow 500. I did upgrade the fuse box to an 86. The chrome fender and the square headlight were on the bike when I got it. Thanks for watching!

I saw that you also had a Shadow 700. I like both bikes and I'm thinking about buying one of them. If you compare riding the 500 and the 700. What was the difference? Was the 700 much better in acceleration? After seeing your videos I felt that the 700 does not like to rev as high as the 500 but has much more power down low...

Thanks for watching. The 500 is a shorter and lighter bike. I've driven it on the highway before without any issues. I usually wind out the RPMs because it seems to have a longer power band. I put bigger jets in the carbs of my 700. That gave it more power in the lower to mid RPM range. I like both bikes. The 700 feels more like a cruiser to me. The 500 feels almost like a scooter in my opinion. It's light and nimble. I hope that this helps you. If you are able to, take both for a test ride.

@@wonkster1970 This helps me a lot! Good description of the different characters of the bikes. Thanks for the answer. I will try to find some 500 an 700 near by and make test rides.
