The night before that game against the Pacers when he slammed his face on the floor he spent the night in the hospital in traction. He didn't block his fall because he was hitting the ball towards a teammate and his other arm was caught by a player on the other team. He didn't have any other options. But that's Larry Bird. The game came first.
Yea, Also Larry Was Able To Get The Ball To His Player Too. A Lot Of People Don't See That Part BUT I have Seen Other Camera Shots & Yes Larry Made Sure He Got That Ball To His Teammate BUT Got Hurt Doing It.
I Guess That's A Lot Of Games Being Missed; But That's Because He Only Played In 6-Games In "89", Because He Had To Have Surgery On Both Feet. So "89" Is The Reason Why The # Sounds Bad.
Thomas was hiding at his house after that game...didn't v want to see or speak to anyone. Bill Russell from the Celtics was the one that called & talked to him! He's the 1 that talked to Thomas and got him to get out of bed and go to practice....instead of hiding from his teammates. There isn't a ball player out there that hasn't made you know a stupid mistake in the heat of the moment ...It happens.

really that's awesome that he still got it to his player
What other player would play with a fractured cheekbone & a concussion! He played through so much.
