Never tire in listening through these classes with wrapt attention. Always so much to learn. Takes me back to my years as an undergraduate student in the Black Studies program at York U. here in Toronto. It’s like reliving the goings on back in time. Angela Davis, Huey Newton, Bobby Seale etc. They were our heroes, and we strove to emulate them. Since then, we seem to have regressed in the Black struggle universally. I greatly appreciate the work being done to revive interest in the struggle. Much taken in by the youth participation and profound interest in the classes. Keep up the good work. Greatly indebted to both of you -Dr. Hunter and Dr.Carr.

When I hear "knowledge" speak, I can't help but listen. Prof Hunter and Dr. Carr, you have help accelerate my middle-aged renaissance. I write down all suggested books to read. Knowledge has always been a lightening rod for me, but I was learning about things that influenced my personal life. I always felt there was more to learn. I felt I was missing something important, my heritage. I can honestly say, Professor Karen Hunter and Dr. Greg Carr are my foundation and I have started rebuilding!

Ok, I am listening to Stamped from the beginning.
Once I stopped getting angry I
Became more objective and was able to understand so many things about how our people fall victim to the lies of the oppressors.
The initial anger behind the lies causes us to shy away from the cruelty.
Pushing through that you leads us to see and understand the lies & the more we know & understand the lies and the whys behind them and the lose their effectiveness!

This class was amazing and Ms. Marika almost brought tears to my eyes. Through deep thought and alongside my learning process I've come to the conclusion that our best fight will be from the ground up. Today (and always) Dr. Carr mentions rooting in our history and Marika advocated for the youth. If we can combine this, create an army of black teachers WELL ROOTED, ROOTING the youth, who will grow to be the ROOTED teachers, so on/so forth- our tree will burst right through the restraints of oppression. The opposition is too weak to fight that. They won a couple battles when they disrupted our structures with indoctrination, murder, mass incarceration, mis-education, infiltration- amongst the rest of their tactics, but we will succeed.

Thank you for class Dr. Carr. You are PRICELESS!!! Great thanks from a light sculptor in the Show Me state for stitching our distinctive arts to our history!!!! Thank you so much!!!!! Music serves as the stitches the bind our hearts and Souls together. The visual imagery of our movies fetch our eyes. It should be nice and pleasing to see reflections of the Self. What is even better if we walk away from the visual, thinking something new. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. You stitched it all together so well as it relates to the Truth that is Jesus if your thoughts and feelings are stitched to Truthful information and sharpened by education that comes courtesy of books. Miss Karen you are AMAZING!!!!! Thank you for loving us this much to share.

Karen I’ve been listening to you via podcast for a little while now before these In Class sessions started and I want to say, while it shouldn’t be important- as a man of Italian descent designated into the false category of “white”- listening to this history and being able to look up some of this stuff and the perspective is very important to growing an understanding of the multifaceted human condition and human history. I say it shouldn’t be important above because we should learn the ways all cultures see the lens of life but unfortunately we know that the lens is a small optic. I appreciate what you’ve grown here and Carr’s narratives are definitely compelling. I’m in school now myself and I feel like this adds to it.

I can't get over this lecture. I just love it. I had to pause at the point Dr. Carr says he doesn't believe any African is truly/fully Christian or Muslim. And I joke about that all the time here. In fact we all joke about it. Because our traditional believes still have a way of infiltrating our worship, praise and prayer. And the concept of hell, or the anthropomorphism of God (not in the form of Jesus). But in the form of God the father is a concept many Africans struggle to fully comprehend. I once had a discussion with an elderly Ashanti man. He couldn't understand the concept of God being a king. God is God he said. Why reduce him to kingship. And we have a king. Otumfuo. Totally interesting.
