Endgames are hard because it's so easy to mess up things if you don't know the correct way to play. And often the correct way to play is not intuitive at all.
I've learnt so much from this channel but still love videos like these, even though I don't play much chess anymore. 100 I did predict the moves for the last board. You're a good teacher!
I like the idea of puzzles. What would be the best way to do that in a video? Would I show a puzzle, have people pause or go to my website to practice, and then I cover the best way to solve the puzzle in the video?
@@chesswebsite . Hi! I think its best to do puzzles with your normal interface unless you have a partnership with a website or are trying to promote your own website. Also, puzzles by theme would be great. I was just doing a free course on basic checkmate puzzles online and I was surprised how many I saw for the first time while doing course. Maybe you could do a video series like a climbing the ladder but with puzzles. I hope this helps! Cheers!
100. I like any lessons you post. I particularly like quick opening traps but learning the theory and strategy is important once a trap fails. Good job. Thanks Kevin.
100. Very good video, I know basic concepts but felt I really understood this as a strategy and how to calculate move order. My end game has never been very strong. Thanks!
This study is one of the most famous study in history. Other famous studies are the Saavedra study with rook promotion, or the study by Mitrofanov (Qg5!!), or the puzzle by the study composer Van Breukelen (Netherland), or the study by Behting. Sergei Kaminer, and Hermanis Matisons are also very famous.
very good video! I do play at a chess club. But i notice i focussed too much on opening theory and too less on endgame theory. This for sure helps making me a better player.. thx!
@@chesswebsite More strategy focused than tactics focused. For example, how can we best create a plan after opening transitions to middlegame? Are there famous middlegame strategies we can learn from? Thanks so much, can't wait for more excellent content!
100 and thanks, it's always great. However, i think that at 4:20 you made a mistake. C7 is not the right move then. And i was missing in the first case the 1. Kg7, h4 version, it's not clear how to draw then. The second table was confusing for me as should be upsidedown from black's point of view.
I believe he already just had show the line after h3. He means if black plays h3 white is gonna be allowed to push c7, but not immediately, off course. After the case 1 Kg7, h4, white just continues 2 Kf6... if black plays 2 ...Kb6, it transpose to the other line. If instead black plays 2 ...h3, white can just play 3 Ke7... and promote the c pawn simultaneously.
The concept of duel threats is so useful. I would never have thought there was any chance in any of the situations yet with a dual threat activated, then a draw or even a win can be achieved. Amazing!
@@chesswebsite wow thank you for replying... i tried the pterodactyl sicilian by the way it worked great but it ran into issues when the opponent played C3 instead of takes or any of the other 3 scenarios you mentioned. thoughts?
could we get more endgame lessons? I struggle with endgame
You got it. I love the endgame so expect more to come.
Yes please! I was literally just thinking how much I needed help with my end game. Thank you!

Endgame videos are definitely one of my favorites. 💯
Mine too! Glad you enjoy it as much as me.
Endgame strategy is equally important in life as well as in chess. Can be just as daunting in both arenas but so worthwhile! Great vid!
I agree completely.
Great video, Kevin! Very interesting concept. Please share more endgame strategies, they are so useful...
100 - thanks for all of your content Kevin. These were some great lessons.
My pleasure!

Nicely done getting the last board. I appreciate the kind words.
This is genius! Really helped me improving my endgames!
Love to hear it.
I just saw the end of the video. More endgames or puzzles in general would be great for future videos. Thanks!!

Glad you enjoyed it. I plan on doing a lot more end game analysis.
Can you make more endgame videos? i am vere intrested in them and your explaining is also vere clear
Yes absolutely. I love endgames so it's great to hear that others enjoy it as well.

I can make that happen.
Beautiful puzzle! I believe Kasparov covered a similar position in this Masterclass series. Thanks!

Nice lesson! Is there a way to identify whether de endgame can be won or draw, just like the square rule?
100!
For King and Pawn yes, the Square rule is a great way to determine a drawn game or not.
I learned so much, thanks!
Love to hear it Marco.
Maybe I am missing something, what if black pushes the pawn right away? 1st scenario
What move order are you referring to after Kg7?
