Because of the closer interval tuning in the lower basses, the bass drums sound weak and dissonant. But I guess that’s what must be done in order for them to actually be heard in the Lucas Oil? One of the worst locations DCI has made and continues making for a venue. They should cut the lease early and relocate to an outdoor stadium. Part of why Phantom ‘08 sounded so good is because it was the last outdoor champion performance.
Not taking anything away from the performers, but I hate that you guys design a uniform that can't hide the drum carriers. It's such a worse look. Like why spend so much time creating a uniform and then cover it? Call me an old head if you want but it's just a cleaner look when the carrier is under the uniform top.

They used the same colors for their uniforms so probably made more sense just to use the same ones, saves a few ten thousand
They don’t use wraps at crown with the new perc team. I just the natural finish that comes on the drums.

The low tuning is probably to hide a bit of dirt, probably gonna change it in at least the snares and tenors before finals happens
